MOVIE NEWS

Watchmen Director’s Cut Length Revealed
After a screening of "Watchmen" in front of press and a lucky set of 300 fans, director Zack Snyder participated in a Q&A session and revealed some details about the two "Watchmen" director cuts of the film, including the length (via VH1):

“The director’s cut is three hours and 10 minutes and comes out in July,” Snyder revealed, calling his original edit “considerably more violent than this … and sexier” and explaining that if the movie does well, the director’s cut will get a theatrical release in Los Angeles and New York.

Following that, of course, will be the Watchmen DVD in the fall — which will include what he dubbed a “Crazy Ultimate Freaky Edition” boasting such time-omitted extras as Tales of the Black Freighter, Hollis Mason’s death, more Manhattan moments on Mars and dialogue-heavy scenes with the newsstand-bonding Bernies.

Collider reports that the "Crazy Ultimate Freaky Edition" will be 3 hours and 25 minutes in length.  In related news, io9 snagged an interview with Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Comedian).  Check it out here

Transformers 2: "Bigger" "Epic" "Darker"  + more details
While on the red carpet for the "Friday the 13th" premiere "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" — now hitting conventional and IMAX theaters two days earlier on Wednesday, June 24th — director Michael Bay gave an interview with Collider discussing how he got access to filming at the Pyramids in Egypt, shooting 3 scenes in IMAX, the run time (currently at 2 hours and 20 minutes) and more.  Watch the five-minute interview embedded below.

In a little bit of spoiler news, well not really too spoilerish, TFW 2005 reports on an article in Toyfare magazine where producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says that the movie’s villain, The Fallen, is one of 13 "original" Transformers:

Lorenzo said to think of the 13 as “apostles”. The Fallen is the one who turns and is the reason Transformers split into Autobots and Decepticons.

Also, in terms of the movie’s timeline, it takes place about one year after the first movie.  And if it wasn’t clear enough in the full teaser trailer (which you can watch embedded below) Devastator is going to be HUGE, 100-120 ft. tall huge.

By the way, Megatron is in the movie after all, so says writer Roberto Orci: "Megatron returns!", further adding "Keep it quiet!". And finally, MTV has a new featurette that includes new behind-the-scenes footage, which I’ve embedded below.

And here is a sneak-peek footage of the Autobot vehicles from Chevrolet [via Jalopnik]

Linda Hamilton In Talks to Reprise Role in Terminator Salvation

Linda Hamilton has confirmed to MTV that she is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to reprise her role as Sarah Connor in "Terminator Salvation"Last month we reported when McG said they were considering an option to have Hamilton do a voice cameo, and that’s exactly the current plan:

I would probably be very happy to loan my voice depending on what the material is,” Hamilton told MTV. “Wait and see. They’re already writing it. We’ve been negotiating it.

Nolan only Batman 3 + Directing Inception and TDK Reaches $1 Billion
As of right now, Christopher Nolan is the only screenwriter attached to the sequel to "The Dark Knight"IGN reports that neither Jonathan Nolan or David Goyer are officially involved in the script phase currently.  In related news, Batman-on-Film reports that "Nolan’s recent deal with Warner Bros. for the film Inception, at least includes an agreement between the studio and the acclaimed director to helm his second sequel to Batman Begins."  Speaking of "Inception", THR reports the following about the "contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind", which Nolan hopes to shoot in the summer for release during summer 2010:

“Chris Nolan is a visionary filmmaker who continually raises the bar with each movie he makes,” Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov said. “We are thrilled to be collaborating again with him and Emma on this exciting new motion picture.”

And rounding out this week’s Batman-related news, "The Dark Knight" reached a feat only three other films in the history of the box office — non-inflation adjusted — have.  The film’s re-release has pushed it’s worldwide box office tally to over $1 billion joining "Titanic" ($1.84B), "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" ($1.12B) and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest" ($1.07B).  It’s unclear when "The Dark Knight" surpassed the milestone, but it’s current tally (with data as of Thursday, February 19th) sits at $1,001,082,160.  Other notables:

  • Second-highest domestic grosser of all time ($533.1 million), behind only "Titanic" ($600.8 million.
  • Largest 2D digitally re-mastered IMAX release in both domestic ($49.6 million) and overseas ($15.3 million) gross and worldwide ($64.9 million).

Signourney Weaver Thinks Alien Franchise Not Done

Sigourney Weaver has chimed in again on the prospects of there being another "Alien" film, telling MTV that she doesn’t feel the the franchise is "quite finished" yet.  According to MTV, Weaver wasn’t too interested in Joss Whedon’s script treatment for a fifth installment:

“You know, Fox was going to do another one,” Sigourney Weaver said to us recently while accepting Ripley’s honor. “They had it written. Joss Whedon wrote it.”

As Weaver remembered it, however, the script from the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” mastermind just didn’t rock her world. “It took place on earth,” she explained. “Which, I have to say, just really didn’t interest me. And I just felt that every time we went out there, we needed to have a really original piece.”

But the actress is still interested in revisiting her character in the future:

“Even in twenty years, if someone came to me and said, ‘This is the story, and it’s a really interesting story using that world’ [I’d do it]. I think it’s an amazing saga…I don’t sit around thinking, ‘Oh I want to do another Alien,’ but it does feel slightly unfinished to me.

“There have been lots of ‘Alien’ impersonators, but there is something about [that first] one,” she said of Ripley’s original film, as well as the franchise it spawned. “I just don’t feel that it’s quite finished.”

Branagh’s Thor To Be Faithful to Comics + Casting Notice for Lead Role
Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada promises that "Thor" (July 16, 2010) will be very faithful to the comics, recounting to Comic Book Resources a meeting he had with director Kenneth Branagh and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige:

[Branagh] has immersed himself in [the comics]… He was talking about characters and villains that even I was going, like, who was that?, y’know. But if you’re a Thor-head, you’re going to go, oh right… So it was wonderful to hear this stuff. He wasn’t just concerned about Thor, but he also understood going in, from the beginning – because we established very early on… Well, at the end of the Iron Man movie, but very early on [in the process], that there’s going to be other movies that become part of this tapestry. This is essentially our Star Wars, our universe is our Star Wars, and he understands that his Thor movie is one of the legs of this table that will interplay with an Iron Man movie down the road, or the Avengers movie down the road.

In related news, a casting notice for the lead role in the film has been released via Coming Attractions:

Male MUST BE MID-LATE 20′S and SIX FEET OR TALLER. LEAD.

Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild. A natural warrior with a quick charming wit who must be genuinely and severely humbled before becoming the compassionate, mature hero of our film.

New Avatar Plot Synopsis
Here’s a new plot synopsis for James Cameron’s upcoming sci-fi 3D epic "Avatar":

Unfolding in the distant future on an exotic alien planet called Pandora, it’s the story of paraplegic ex-Marine Jake Sully.

After undergoing an experiment to exist in the alien world as an avatar – a blue, 10ft-tall, genetically engineered biological body, controlled by his human mind – Sully finds himself torn in a fight for his own survival and that of Pandora’s indigenous people, the Na’vi.

Cameron’s script sets up an epic war between the native race of an incredible world and the humans who want to exploit it.

Total Film also has an interview with the director, which you can check out here and some promo images, some of which I’ve included below.

Twilight Sequel New Moon Titled + Eclipse Set for 2010 and Synopsis Revealed
Here’s a little Twilight news to digest.  MTV has unveiled the logo and title for "The Twilight Saga’s New Moon" which hits theaters on November 20, 2009.  Check out the logo below:

In related news, Summit Entertainment has announced that the third film in the franchise, "The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse", will be hitting theaters seven months after ‘New Moon’ on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.  Here’s the plot synopsis for that film:

"As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death."

Mickey Rourke: In or Out of Iron Man 2?
Is Mickey Rourke playing a villain in "Iron Man 2"?  I guess it depends on who you ask.  Rourke himself told NYMag that he’s "not doing Iron Man 2".  Clear enough right?  Well, not so much actually.  Entertainment Weekly is now reporting that an "offer still stands, though nothing’s yet being negotiated".  Sounds to me like there’s still some salary issues that need to be worked out between Marvel and Rourke’s agents.  "Iron Man 2" hits theaters on May 7, 2010.

Is WB Prepping Superman Unleashed?
For a short period of time, a password-protected page of Legendary Pictures’ website (a WB partner on "Superman Returns") listed "Superman Unleashed" as one of their upcoming films in development with the following temporary plot synopsis:

“Ramping up the action of its esteemed predecessor, the sequel to ‘Superman Returns’ promises to raise the stakes and take the audience to heights of action that no other superhero movie can achieve.”

The company has since removed (via Alex Litel) the listing from their website.  In other Superman-related news, /Film has debunked AICN’s report last week that the Wachowski brothers had been offered to reboot the franchise.

TV NEWS

Cartoon Network Renews Star Wars: The Clone Wars for Second Season
Cartoon Network has given a second season renewal to its hit animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars".  The show premiered with two back-to-back episodes on October 3rd, drawing an average of 3.96 million viewers over the hour, making it the most-watched premiere in the history of the network.  According to the official press release, the show was the #1 series across the entire basic cable landscape in 2008 and through 2009 with boys 6-11.

Grace Park on Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
Grace Park (Boomer/Athena on "Battlestar Galactica") talked with Galactica.TV and explains what happens in the upcoming TV movie ‘The Plan’:

It’s more about the Cylon perspective, and so we went back and we dealt a little bit more with Boomer and some with Cavil. And that kind of threw me for a huge loop because there are a lot of scenes that aren’t explained, so as actors we fill them in ourselves as best we can. And somewhere along the line, I think it was when I got the script for The Plan, they offered a bunch of new information that really didn’t fit with what I had sort of built everything else on for the last four or five years. So I kind of feel like I’ve built a stick house on a pile of rocks that can all just fall down.

SCI FI Channel Interested in Tin Man Series
Last year’s "Tin Man" miniseries was the most-watched program in the history of SCI FI, and now the network is looking to return to Oz.  According to io9, Neal McDonough (who played Tin Man in the miniseries) told reporters at a roundtable for "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" that SCI FI is planning to bring "Tin Man" back as a regular series:

Last year, I had the great fortune to play Wyatt Cain in Tin Man, that could have been my favorite performance of anything I’ve done. That was a character that was really close to me… I do enjoy playing villains, and I had a great run the last year or so doing it. I certainly would love to go back and visit a guy like Wyatt Cain, whteher its Tin Man the series, which wenve talked about, or just to explore the character [in some way.]

Asked specifically if a "Tin Man" series was a possibility, McDonough replied:

It is, yeah. Sci Fi and [producer] Robert Halmi are talking about it. We were going to start up when I got back from Street Fighter, and then [Desperate] Housewives came along, and we weren’t ready yet. So I said, let’s do some Housewives and let’s see if we can get Tin Man done when I come back. It’s definitely a possibility, they just talked about it a few days ago. They would like to do it.

Terminator and Dollhouse Struggling on Friday Nights
Two week’s ago the highly anticipated — at least among fans — premiere of the Terminator/Dollhouse pairing on Fox took place and the results were far from encouraging.  Opening at 8pm was the return of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles".  The show posted series lows, drawing just 3.71M viewers and a 1.4 rating in the key A18-49 demographic.  That was a decline of more than 25% from its midseason finale episode in December (5.07M, 1.9 A18-49 rating).  Joss Whedon’s new series "Dollhouse" premiered immediately after and while it did better than it’s lead-in, it failed to attract a wide audience managing just 4.76 million viewers.  While overall viewership was low, Fox trumpeted the show’s performance among key demos and its rating in the key A18-49 demo (2.0) was actually not so bad (#2 in the time period).  However, any hope of better days ahead were eliminated when the ratings for this past Friday’s episode came in.  According to preliminary fast affiliate data, "Dollhouse" fell another 15% in the demo to a 1.7 rating and averaged just 4.22 million viewers (-11%).  It still did better, proportionally speaking, in the demo for the hour (#t2), but it’s highly unlikely it’ll stick around with such low numbers unless of course Fox sees fit to give it a little boost elsewhere on its lineup.  Week two of ‘Terminator’ was flat from the week prior, drawing just 3.84 million viewers (+3.5%) and a 1.3 A18-49 rating (-7%)…

The Future of The Sarah Connor Chronicles

…Speaking of ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’, Thomas Dekker (John Connor) tells The TV Addict that his character "has a plan and had a plan" and hints that John may know there’s something up with Riley.  Also, the second half of the season will clear up the "three dots" mystery and the season ends with some closure on some of the questions, but it introduces some new stuff that fans will have to wait for season three to see what happens. It’s a shame that we may have to bid farewell to the series.  And on the spoiler front, EW reports that one of the show’s female stars (not Summer Glau) will be leaving the show on the March 6th episode.  And finally, Garret Dillahunt, who plays John Henry, tells SCI FI Wire what his character will do when he escapes his room in an upcoming episode:

He’s going to make a friend, yeah. He’s going to learn about fear, emotion, I guess. … They told me today I get in a big fight. I don’t know with whom; I’m anxious to find out. They said it’s a big learning experience for him.

Stargate Universe Begins Production
Principal photography on "Stargate Universe" began this past Wednesday, February 18th, GateWorld.net reports.  The series is shooting at The Bridge Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia.  Producer Joseph Mallozzi tells About that the show will be more arc-based and won’t focus too much on going to Earth-like planets and meeting English-speaking aliens.  Mallozzi instead promises that it’ll be more in the style of "Lost" and "BSG":

“I want to liken it to something on TV,” Mallozzi said, “but I can’t really — I guess you can liken it to Battlestar Galactica, in that it’s science fiction and it’s more arc-driven. But in terms of tone, in terms of situation, in fact in terms of the story it is very unlike Battlestar. I’d say it’s more Lost than Battlestar, but even then I’m reluctant to make that comparison.”

Final Unaired Episodes of Pushing Daisies Will Be Shown This Spring
The final unseen episodes of Bryan Fuller’s "Pushing Daisies" will finally be seen this spring, but unfortunately, you’ll have to get yourself to the Paley Television Festival in Los Angeles in April to watch them.  According to TV Guide, the canceled series’ three remaining episodes will be presented during a screening set for Sunday, April 19th at Hollywood’s ArcLight Cinema.  Series creator/executive producer Bryan Fuller will be on hand to introduce the event. The festival will also feature panels for "Battlestar Galactica", "Dollhouse" and "Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog".  Check out the full scheduled here.  In a separate article, TV Guide reports that ABC may broadcast the final episodes sometime this summer in an effort to spur DVD sales.

Doctor Who Planet of the Dead Rewritten|
As we reported in a previous edition of SFS, a double-decker bus that was to be used for filming of "Doctor Who" special "Planet of the Dead" got damaged en route to a set in Dubai.  Now comes news, via 7 Days, of how they worked around the problem.  7 Days reports that the episode was rewritten [SPOILERS] "so that Dr Who’s bus collides with another craft while travelling through space and then crash-lands on an uninhabited planet – in real life, the desert around Dubai."

Terminator’s Summer Glau Guest-Starring on The Big Bang Theory
Summer Glau (Cameron on "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") will be making a cameo on the March 9th episode of CBS’s "The Big Bang Theory".  Michael Ausiello of EW describes the episode like this:

"A train trip to San Francisco takes a major detour when Leonard, Sheldon, Wolowitz, and Raj discover that their favorite scifi actress in all the land is on board. But the fanboy frenzy quickly gives way to a heated mass debate when they realize one of them will have to approach her – but who?"

"The Big Bang Theory" — always chock-full of references to sci-fi shows and movies including "Star Trek" — airs Monday night’s at 8:00 pm.  It’s currently on hiatus until March 2nd.

As always, great work Rosario!

Looking forward to that new X-men movie. Hurry and get here May!

Lost is getting better and better this season!

ultra cool

theres also the Larson BSG movie news…

id prefer an Alien 5 over another AvP…i think A and P fans have been badly let down…They HAD to make AvP as the fans wanted it badly but it should’ve been set post Alien 3 or 4 in space on the alien planet seen in the first run of the comic books….instead of taking place earth present day in the arctic…

it was all there on the page all storyboarded out!…yeah i know fans will have read it but they used story elements of it in Andersons AvP anyway…plus they film novel and graphic novels all the time (Watchmen etc etc) and people still wanna see them

Much of the eerieness of the 1st Alien film is that the creature was totally alien…but it turns out there was an aliens dancing about on earth all along and one is now living at the bottom of the sea..kinda undermines Alien 1 dosnt it…

plus they shouldve just left it as a one off – not done the atrocious AvP 2…they couldve gone ahead with Scott and Camerons Alien 5 and done a Predator 3

I love this site. You guys report on just about everything. It’s nice that I can go onto a site about Star Trek and find out info about other tings I like too. Keep it ip

Yeah…I wouldn’t get too excited about a Dragonball Evolution sequel.

sDarko will rule them all. Didn’t even know this was coming out! I have to say, it’s now my #2 movie to see this year… now which gets bumped to number 3? Star Trek or Watchmen…hmmm

SDarko’s trailer is actually really good! Hopefully it’ll be a straight-to-DVD film that’ll be good for a change!

Sorry to hear about Sarah Connor’s woes. I really like it. Thing is, like Galactica, it’s a show I only usually watch on DVD, not on broadcast TV!

As for Glen A Larson bringing back his Galactica . . . Please God no! It’ll be a desperate attempt to cash in on the success of Star Trek and will represent a huge backwards step after Ron Moore’s show!

#5-What news is that, about the Larson BSG? Apparently I missed that. You now have me curious!

These Lost episodes feel like the writers are pushing names around a map. Sawyer goes here. Jack and Kate drive here. Hurley shows up here. Instead of the first two seasons where we had stories about interesting characters who happen to be involved with this crazy island business and how they deal with that.

Just my two cents.

Where’s Arcee?

One thing that the Carla Gugino clip suggests is that there will be no “best performance” nominations coming out of “Watchmen.” Although the flatfooted lighting and direction of the scene doesn’t give her much help – human sentiment may not be Snyder’s strong suite. LOL

I’m just thinking about Dr. Horrible, that might be worth thinking about going to see the panel for… That was a good production.

Also, glad to know SGU is finally underway

#9:

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Going back to the 70s Larson concept for BG would be an insult to the Ron Moore epic which has enthralled me for years!!
Don’t. Go. There!!!

Giacchino just had his orchestra play a bit of the Star Trek theme at the Oscars!

#16…Yeah, if you weren’t paying attention you’d miss it. I had to rewind just to make sure!

Man , I forgot about the Oscars. I hope they have this on here or youtube soon so we that missed it get to hear it.

LOL @ that dude even trying to compare a StarGate show to LOST & Battlestar Galactica!!

We know what your shows are about dude, very minimal story and a sh!tliad of special effects.

and that’s exactly what StarGate: Universe will be.

that’s all.

#16 … He sure did. :-) Giachinno is choosing some fun musical cues. He also played a bit of the (original) Day The Earth Stood Still theme … and just now, Mr. Blue Sky by E.L.O. :-)

If he does as good of a job w/ the score for XI as I think he will do, it will be the first Trek soundtrack I’ve purchased in over 10 years.

Geez, first I don’t know the nes about the Larson Galactica and now I miss a snipet of Star Trek music on the Oscars? Aggghhhh! “Bad dream….bad….dream!”

“Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Joe Quesada promises that “Thor” (July 16, 2010) will be very faithful to the comics, recounting to Comic Book Resources a meeting he had with director Kenneth Branagh and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige:”

I am very hopeful about everything I hear out of the Thor camp. I’m very encouraged by what I hear Kenneth Branagh is doing. You go Kenneth. I mean it.

Brett Ratner is still attached to Conan? I thought he was off it. Where’s the guy who is his cousin here on this site? Tell him to get some class, some smarts, or get off this project. To important in my opinion to mess up.

Watching the Oscars as I write this. Hope Mickey Rourke wins. And hope Marvel and he decide something good on Iron Man.

for thor do you think that it will be the clasic costume or the ultimate costume

Would the editors of this site please edit or remove the Michael Bay interview… He dropped the “F” bomb and my kids were in the room. I thought this site was family oriented?

Thank you for understanding.

Why doesn’t Marvel just offer these actors the pittance that’s been reported ($250,000) up front, and a half-percent of the gross box office? Why are they nickel and diming the salaries on what will no doubt be one of the most anticipated and profitable films of 2010 (Iron Man II)? Crazy Marvel.

Scott B. out.

P.S. Heartened to hear the casting notice for “Thor.” I hope they find a physically impressive actor to fill the role.

22 – You’re looking for me. I wish I had a direct channel to Brett but I don’t. As someone who loves Conan I’m appalled that he’s directing it, because he has no vision.

Jonny Quest as a live action film?

This franchise has been bandied around for years. I hope it takes this time… and does its roots proud.

I have the fondest memories of the original 1964 cartoon series, so this production better get it right!

and…

I haven’t mentioned this in quite some time, but Mr. Spielberg, where is the fimlming going to begin on “When Worlds Collide,” the film you promised in 2005?

ruh roh…

#27: that should have read “when is the filming…”

damn it (grin)

“Soundwave superior, Constructicons inferior.”

Devastator looks wicked. Ugly. But wicked.

Wait. I got a question. Whatever happened to that Mountain Dew and Escalade Transformers from the first flick?

On a totally WAY-OFF tangent, does anyone know if a person can purchase DVDs of Gerry Anderson’s update of Captain Scarlett in the US?

It looks pretty awesome!

The DVDs I’ve seen for sale thus far are in PAL format, which means incompatible with most US DVD players (which use the NTSC format).

Well, Doug, you found Captain Scarlet DVDs on some bazaar in Kuwait?
You can always rip the PAL disks with handbrake and reburn them or watch them on any medium you like.

#31: Actually, no I didn’t find them at our weekly bazaars. I only know about it because of perusing of the fanderson website. I’ve also seen them listed for sale on amazon.com.uk

As to the bazaar, I refused to buy any of the DVDs or CDs while in Afghanistan.

For those of you who don’t know this, copyright law means nothing in many, if not most, Middle East nations. This means that DVDs of new movies are out opening day; for example, the new James Bond film “Quantum of Solace” was available to us on opening day on DVD in Kabul (I have yet to see the film).

I cannot (on moral grounds) buy these products knowing the makers are robbing the writers, actors and the production crew of their rightful profits.

As to the technology to transfer the medium to a compatible format… I am unfamiliar with this software– and maybe need to investigate that– although I am no great technophile and might have a huge problem attempting it.

Thorsten? You’ve been to the bazaars? I’m intrigued by your comment. How do you know of the bazaars, if I may ask?

Doug, handbrake is really easy, available for Windows and Mac, and allows you to convert DVDs by a long list of availavle presets. It is really just one click, and your PAL problem is solved…

about the bazaars, well, I get around, every week another planet!
Have a good flight!

#33: thanks, I’ll look into that (Handbrake) once stateside.

I canNOT wait to get home!!!

#33: I am intrigued that we could have crossed paths… that is a delightful idea.

“…but it’s highly unlikely it’ll stick around with such low numbers unless of course Fox sees fit to give it a little boost elsewhere on its lineup.”

Ha! Fox isn’t one to give shows a chance. If it’s not an immediate success, they get rid of it. If there was anyone intelligent working at Fox, they wouldn’t have placed Terminator and Dollhouse in the “death slot” that is Friday night.

Anyways, great work, Rosario, as always. All the hard work you put into these columns is very much appreciated. :)

episode 2 of Dollhouse was much much better than the pilot so there is some hope. But I doubt Fox will let it run with poor ratings.

Joss Whedon writing Alien 5 on earth. Could be fun but only if they don’t kill his script like they did the last one. That was Fox too wasn’t it? I sense a pattern.

Wait a minute, wasn’t Firefly on Fox, too?

WAIT! Knight Rider’s Nielsens are better than Sarah Connor Chronicles???????????????????????? WHAT???!!!???!!!
Oh the humanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Glau and Eliza Dushku should join the cast next season…it’d be KnightHouse: The Cameron Chronicles!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh,
Forgot to thank the author (Rosario) for another outstanding edition!!!!!! This is what gets me outta bed on the weekend…

Wow. “Terminator” and “Dollhouse” are in “Enterprise” territory with those numbers.

Tough one for FOX: Keep Terminator alive to get the boost from the new film this summer? Shelve it temporarily?

As for “Dollhouse,” I haven’t seen it. I loved “Buffy” and “Angel” until it lost steam in season 4. Firefly/Serenity bombed commercially. Joss needs a hit.

Nobody’s commented on this yet –

So, is this the episode when “Smallville” officially jumps the shark?

There’s gonna be one helluva reset button at the end, methinks…

#39 Knight Rider has been pretty solid in terms of consistency and quality since it returned in the New Year. I watch the show weekly, and like most first season shows, it found its path after several inconsistent, and a few bad episodes. The first season of Terminator wasn’t exactly amazing. But, if Knight Rider, is indeed, cancelled, it went out at the top of its game.

Wow, a lot of stuff here! Doogie Hauser as Flash=Fail.

23

I hope it’s the classic. I know…I’m old school. I want nothing to do with the so called “Ultimates” in any form or fashion.

25

And you know…hey! I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, second chances… whatever. I just don’t see your kin as the person to do Conan after what became of the heap that was X3. Talk about no vision. The one thing that does encourage me is that he was a fan of it as a kid. That’s little consolation though.

And Rosario….you do a great job with this.

I’d like to encourage everyone to go see Supercapers. Back in the day, I worked with writer-director Ray Griggs when we were both making TV commercials in Missouri.

My kudos to Rosario, as well!

“Last Wednesday’s episode of “Lost” (which I think had one of the better WTF moments of its run)…”

Tell me about it! Love, love, love that show.

“John Williams will be doing the score for “The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn”. ”

Great. More diabetes-inducing sentimental treacle spewed from his butterchurn of over-ripe summer-blockbuster musical noise. I can’t forgive the guy for that awful Jurassic Park score and although he has done some beautiful work with Spielberg in the past (Schindler’s List, especially) when two of them get together on some “heartfelt” project (E.T. — choke!) Williams really smears on the schmaltz. I’m know remembering his cue for Anakin-says-bye-bye-to-his-mommy from Phantom Menace. >shudder<

S. Darko looks, predictably, forgettable. Too bad.

“The People vs. George Lucas”

1. OK, we get it. Let it go. Lord in Heaven, let it go. If you don’t like something, just stop buying. Stop going. Stop seeing the sequels. It’s not hard.
2. “How much people profess they hate them shows how much they love them.” — that’s infinitely profound.

Watchmen – gonna rock. Like LotR, the source material is so strong, that unless they put everyone in bunny ears and made Rorschach a loveable tyke who redeems himself in the end, they can’t miss.

TF2 – I’m sorry, I really didn’t like the first one all that much, I don’t plan to see the second. I’ve learned my lesson with Michael Bay films – I don’t like them.

Terminator: Salvation. Originally very skeptical, the more I see/hear from this production, the more optimistic I get.

And as a final thought: please let it go, Ms. Weaver. The Alien series was not only killed, it was then exhumed, urinated upon, set on fire and then re-buried. The only hopes from here on out are a reboot, which is inevitable and sad, because the first two films are brilliant.

As for SDarko … rarely does a sequel that has no support from it’s original writer/ director does very well. If you want good sci-fi try Richard Kelly’s latest film The Box starring Cameron Diaz.

“How much people profess they hate them shows how much they love them.”

Lazy rhetoric. Oftentimes the simplest answer is the truth. People fight about the Prequels because they aren’t as good as the originals. Oh, and people like to fight and have opinions. Crazy revelations, I know!
