Star Trek The Experience To Re-open in May? (Maybe)

Star Trek The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton closed its gates for final time last September, but soon after TrekMovie and the Las Vegas press reported that talks were under way to find a new home in downtown Las Vegas at the Neonopolis center. Now the manager of Neonopolis is talking about opening up in time for the new Star Trek movie in May, TrekMovie has done some double checking to see how doable that is.




Make Your Own Star Trek Animations At GoAnimate.com – TrekMovie Takes A First Look

Today Star Trek is getting (re)animated, and this time you are the one calling the shots. CBS has hooked up with GoAnimate.com, a site with the motto ‘anyone can animate,’ to give fans the ability to create their own Star Trek animated stories, based on the classic Original Series. TrekMovie.com got an early look at the GoAnimate Trek site which went live this morning, see what we came up with below

We are now officially in the final three months, awaiting the release of the new Star Trek movie. Esurance, Paramount’s new Star Trek promotional partner has a new cool website (esurance.com/startrek) with behind the scenes video, movie assets, and a ‘Biggest Trekkie’ video contest, with the winner going to the Hollywood premiere. Star Trek VOIP/Skype USB Communicator Coming Soon + Bluetooth Communicator Later in 2009

Last year CBS announced that one of their new Star Trek licensees was Dream Cheeky, the maker fun computer accessories. Dream Cheeky revealed their first Trek Device, a USB TOS communicator, at the recent CES show in Vegas. Tyler Perry On His Role In Star Trek & Being Directed By JJ Abrams

One of the more surprising castings in the new Star Trek movie is Tyler Perry, who has a couple of scenes in the film. Perry is best known as the producer, writer, director and star of his own films and TV shows, and Star Trek is actually the first film he has appeared in that he didn’t direct. Star Trek Commercial 2nd Most Memorable Super Bowl Movie Spot

Last weekend Paramount dropped some big cash on a number of Super Bowl commercials, including one for JJ Abrams Star Trek (each 30 second spot estimated by Variety to cost around $2 Million). On Monday we reported that media analysts were mostly positive about the spot and now there are three new online polls showing that the Trek ad  is rating as the penultimate movie commercial of the 2009 Super Bowl.


Man Wielding Bat’leth Robs 2 Colorado 7-11s [UPDATE: Surveillance Cam Image]

Apparently the economy is so bad, that a Trekkie has turned to crime. According to multiple reports from the Colorado press, a man wielding a Klingon Bat’leth sword robbed two different 7-11 stores in Colorado Springs, CO this morning. So far no one was injured, but the crook has not yet been caught. More details and a video TV report below. [UPDATE: Image of Bat’leth Bandit released]


ShatWatch: Raw Nerve Renewed & Bill talks Takei Appearance + Gonzo Ballet Premiere Date + more

February begins with good news for William Shatner (although TrekMovie sees all Shatner news as good news). First Bill’s Bio Channel chat show has been renewed for more episodes (and we have video of Shatner talking about Takei coming to the show). Plus the Gonzo Ballet has a film festival premiere date, the 2009 Horse Show has set a date, and we have a classic Shat vid from 1967 to round out this new ShatWatch.
