LOST: New interviews with cast and crew + George Lucas letter
As we enter the final week of the series — episode 6×16 – "What They Died For" is this Tuesday followed by the two-part 2 1/2-hour series finale "The End" on Sunday, May 23 — here are some excerpts from some interviews with the cast and crew of "LOST". First up is NY Mag’s Vulture blog interview with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse:

Annetay knows there will be some questions left unanswered. Are there any questions left unanswered that you wish you would have answered?
Lindelof: We answered all the questions that we wanted to answer. And our rule has always been: We answer the questions that were important to answer for the characters on the show. If Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, Locke, and Kate didn’t care about it … It’s not that we didn’t care about it, or that we don’t acknowledge that the fans are curious about it, but we didn’t answer it. That being said: There might, possibly, be some questions that we, as storytellers, will answer in the body of the show that might not be appearing in the finale. And that’s all we’re willing to say …

Here’s an excerpt from NY Post’s interview with Michael Emerson:

A lot of fans have wondered what the actual purpose for the flash-sideways is — will it eventually be explained?
Emerson: Yes, but they’re not going to spoon feed it to you. For me, the ending of the series required some analysis. It’s not given to you on a dish, neatly organized with a fancy bow put on the end of it. What it does have is a great soulfulness and the ending is human scale.

Here’s Mark Pellegrino (Jacob) echoing past cast and crew statements that many of our questions will be answered [TV Guide]:

A lot of fans griped after the episode because they still felt confused about the mythology. Will there be more explanation in the last few episodes?
Pellegrino:
There will be. There will be some ends tied, but I can’t guarantee that for everyone. People have been debating the meaning of the show and the various subplots for years, and I wonder if all of the questions are going to be answered. That’s a tall order, but I think many people will be satisfied.

In other news, George Lucas sent a letter to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. The letter was read aloud at Thursday nights "Lost Live: The Final Celebration". Here’s the text courtesy Zap2It:

Congratulations on pulling off an amazing show. Don’t tell anyone … but when ‘Star Wars’ first came out, I didn’t know where it was going either. The trick is to pretend you’ve planned the whole thing out in advance. Throw in some father issues and references to other stories — let’s call them homages — and you’ve got a series.

In six seasons, you’ve managed to span both time and space, and I don’t think I’m alone in saying that I never saw what was around the corner. Now that it’s all coming to an end, it’s impressive to see how much was planned out in advance and how neatly you’ve wrapped up everything. You’ve created something really special. I’m sad that the series is ending, but I look forward to seeing what you two are going to do next.

After the text was read, co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof responded: "I just want to apologize to Mr. George Lucas for everything I said about the prequels …" A few more bites follow below.

FRINGE: alt-Universe details + Nimoy talks finale
Some of the differences in alt-universe of "Fringe" were clear (with regards to characters and a different $20 bill), but maybe some weren’t so much. During last week’s episode there’s a scene which shows a map of the alt-United States. It’s not completely clear (see below), but SCI FI Wire visited the set in March and got a better look. Here are the changes:

  • California has clearly suffered a major catastrophe; half of it is gone, presumably underwater.
  • The state of Washington is called "Southern British Columbia." (A wink to the crew of Fringe, which is shot in Canada’s British Columbia?)
  • Nevada is called "Independent Nevada."
  • Texas is divided into two states: North Texas and South Texas.
  • Oklahoma and Kansas are combined into a large state called "Midland."
  • North and South Carolina are combined into a single state called simply "Carolina."
  • Louisiana is called "Louisiana Territory."
  • The area around Washington, D.C., is called "District of Virginia" instead
  • The upper peninsula of Michigan doesn’t exist.

And here’s the map:

Meanwhile Jasika Nicole (Astrid) says the season finale — Thursday, May 20 at 9:00 p.m. on FOX — had the "most shocking script" since the pilot:

We finally get to go to the alternate universe and meet everyone in their altered state. But that’s not even what I’m talking about — the very end of it, what’s going to keep audiences on the edge of their seats is in the last minute.

Jasika also revealed that the first "three or four episodes" in season three will take place in the alternate universe. Check out the rest of the interview at the NY Post.

V’s Laura Vandervoort talks season finale
"V" star Laura Vandervoort, who plays Anna’s daughter Lisa, told TV Guide that the season finale features a "huge cliff-hanger":

"It’s Earth-shattering and detrimental to the human race and really shakes up everyone’s state of being. A lot of the characters that haven’t interacted before will for the first time and Erica does get to visit the ship."

In a separate interview with io9, Vandervoort expands a little on the culture of the Visitors, specifically the hierarchy:

"And that’s Anna, and she’s given birth to every single V, even the ones on the other ships hovering [out in space]. And only one queen is born every generation… There are soldier Vs, there are worker Vs, and then one is royalty."

"V" airs Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m. The season finale airs this Tuesday, May 18.

Heroes, FlashForward & Better Off Ted canceled; V, Human Target & Chuck renewed
After much back and forth, NBC has decided to cancel "Heroes". There were rumors that the network was considering bringing the show back for a shortened season to wrap it up. However, THR reports that NBC could still close it out with a 2 or even 4-hour TV movie. NBC also confirmed that "Chuck" will be renewed for a fourth season (picked up for a 13-episode season with the possibility of a back-nine order). Over on ABC, the network has announced that the low-rated comedy "Better Off Ted" will end after two seasons while the once-promising freshman drama "FlashForward" won’t make it to another season. On the plus side, "V" has been renewed for a second season thanks to a leveling off in viewers in recent weeks. "V" will also receive a 13-episode order. And lastly, Fox has ordered a 13-episode second season for the comic to TV adaptation "Human Target". Fox also announced that former "Chuck" producer Matt Miller has been hired as co-show runner.

2010/2011 genre TV outlook
On the new genre TV front, we have ABC announcement that they’ve picked up "No Ordinary Family". Here’s the official description:

The Powells are about to go from ordinary to extraordinary. After 16 years of marriage, Jim and Stephanie’s relationship lacked the spark it once had, and their family life now consists of balancing work and their two children; leaving little time for family bonding. During a family vacation set up by Jim in an attempt to reconnect, their plane crashes into the Amazon River. But this is where the fun starts for the Powells as they soon discover that something’s not quite right. Each of them now possesses unique and distinct super powers. But saving and savoring their family life will be equally important as they try to find purpose for their new power and embark on a journey to find out what defines and unifies them. The Powells are a totally relatable family that happens to be a little bit amazing.

Moving over to NBC, we have two genre projects lined up for the new season. They include J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi spy drama "Undercovers" and superhero drama "The Cape":

‘THE CAPE’ – “The Cape” is a one-hour drama series starring David Lyons (“ER”) as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin, “Life on Mars”) and son, Trip (Ryan Wynott, “Flash Forward”). Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City, Faraday becomes “The Cape” his son’s favorite comic book superhero — and takes the law into his own hands. Rounding out the cast are James Frain (“The Tudors”) as billionaire Peter Fleming — The Cape’s nemesis — who moonlights as the twisted killer: Chess; Keith David (“Death at a Funeral”) as Max Malini, the ringleader of a circus gang of bank robbers who mentors Vince Faraday and trains him to be The Cape, Summer Glau (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) as Orwell, an investigative blogger who wages war on crime and corruption in Palm City; and Dorian Missick (“Six Degrees”) as Marty Voyt, a former police detective and friend to Faraday. http://www.nbc.com/the-cape/

‘UNDERCOVERS’ – Acclaimed writer/producer/director J.J. Abrams (“Star Trek,” “Fringe,” “Lost,” “Alias”) serves as co-writer, executive producer – and also directs – his first direction of a TV series pilot since “Lost” in “Undercovers” with executive producer/writer Josh Reims (“Brothers and Sisters”). “Undercovers” is a sexy, fun, action-packed spy drama that proves once and for all that marriage is still the world’s most dangerous partnership. Outwardly, Steven Bloom (Boris Kodjoe, “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Reunion,” “Soul Food,” “Resident Evil: Afterlife”) and his wife, Samantha (Gugu Mbatha-Raw, “Doctor Who,” “Bonekickers”), are a typical married couple who own a small catering company in Los Angeles and are helped by Samantha’s easily frazzled younger sister, Lizzy (Jessica Parker Kennedy, “Smallville”). Secretly, the duo were two of the CIA’s best spies until they fell in love on the job five years ago and retired. When fellow spy and friend Nash (Carter MacIntyre, “American Heiress”) goes missing while on the trail of a Russian arms dealer, the Blooms are reinstated by boss Carlton Shaw (Gerald McRaney, “Deadwood”) to locate and rescue Nash. The pair is thrust back into the world of espionage as they follow leads that span the globe — and Steven and Samantha realize that this supercharged, undercover lifestyle provides the excitement and romance that their marriage has been missing. Also starring is Ben Schwartz (NBC’s “Parks and Recreation”). http://www.nbc.com/undercovers/

Watch clips from "The Cape" and "Undercovers" below [THR].

"Chuck" will stay on Monday nights at 8:00 p.m., while "Undercovers" will open Wednesday nights at 8:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Fox is expected to pick up Steven Spielberg’s prehistoric time travel drama "Terra Nova" for midseason. The show is executive produced by "Star Trek" alum Brannon Braga. As previously reported, "Terra Nova" is about a family 100 years in the future that travels back to the prehistoric era. In related news, EW has obtained the script for the pilot. Here’s what they write about the opening scene which takes place in the year 2149 A.D.:

The scene: a large group of settlers are preparing to leave the apocalyptic world they live in to time travel back millions of years via a massive, high-tech contraption. Their goal is to see trees, enjoy a blue sky, eat real food – basically, to start over in this so-called Eden. But what they find is unlike anything they were expecting.

SCI-FI RATINGS (Based on final national numbers unless otherwise noted) [@TravisYanan]

After a nice increase the week prior, last week’s (5/7/2010) episode of "Stargate Universe" drew 1.39 million viewers and a 0.6 A18-49 rating. That was down -13% in viewers but even in A18-49 rating from the week prior (1.59M / 0.6 rating). Meanwhile, lead-out "Merlin" managed to post a gain of 13% from its previous episode (even in A18-49 rating), drawing a season-high 1.44 million viewers and a 0.4 A18-49 rating. That’s right, "Merlin" managed to climb past "Stargate Universe" in total viewers. Even though ‘SGU’ has already been renewed for a second season there’s no way to spin this as anything other than a major disappointment. Here are the current season averages for the two shows (where ratings are available) [@TravisYanan]

  • "Stargate Universe" (15 episodes) – 1.76 million viewers / 0.7 A18-49 rating
  • "Merlin" (6 episodes) – 1.26 million viewers / 0.4 A18-49 rating

"Legend of the Seeker" dropped to a season low of 1.96 million. That was off a steep 19% from the episode prior (2.41M viewers). The show has averaged 2.36 million viewers through 19 original episodes. [TV by the Numbers]

The final viewing figure for "Flesh and Stone", episode 5×05 of "Doctor Who", was 8.50 million viewers (8.02M on BBC One and 0.48M on BBC HD). That was down slightly from the week prior (8.59M — 8.13M on BBC One and 0.46M on BBC HD). Also, the initial overnight figures show that "Amy’s Choice" (5×07) was watched by 6.2 million viewers (5.85M on BBC One and 0.34M on BBC HD). [The Doctor Who News Page, (2)]

Aahh!! I can’t believe the season finale for Fringe is four days away!!!

…I’m excited to see Nimoy with a gun. Don’t ask why, I just am. And I want to see the scene with William Bell and Walter Bishop. And I want to see Waltnernate again.

………SO excited!!!

As for everything else.. eh. Whatever.

FRINGE.

Wow, a lot of typos in this one!

“Wealso say goodbey” ?

And I’m not sure who Leonard Nimooy is…

“Don’t tell anyone … but when ‘Star Wars’ first came out, I didn’t know where it was going either.”

Yeah, no kidding, Mr. Lucas.

I think we can all give him a free pass on the original trilogy, but the prequels–c’mon, the ending was already written for him! Then again, maybe that was the problem. He had way too much room to make things more interesting ( Jar-Jar, “Yippee” and so on) from the first opening crawl to Vader’s first breathe.

2

He plays Spoock.

sorry about the typo, that was my fault not Russ’

Again a great roundup from Russ on all that is coming

And Bob, looking forward to what is coming with Fringe.

But how do you deal with no Nimoy (or Nimoooooy) for S3 and beyond?

Anthony,

Season 3 is not my problem. Hey, wait, yes it is!

Unless it’s up to the Boborcternate!

Looking forward to the final episodes of “Lost”. Good time to end it when it is still great. Hopefully, the finale will be as great for “Lost” as “All Good Things…” was for TNG. At least I hope it will be better than the atrocious “X-Files” finale. Ugh.

Also looking forward to the season finale of “Fringe”. The alt-universe episodes are some of my favorites. The geography of alt-USA is neat as well. Though I was hoping the alt-USA would be called the “Independent States of America” so that an episode set in the alt-universe could have featured an aircraft carrier called the I.S.S Enterprise, which would have been a brilliant nod to the classic TOS episode, “Mirror, Mirror” as well as the “Enterprise” episode “In A Mirror Darkly, Pt. 1”.

#5,6

Now that “Heroes” is cancelled, I hear Zachary Quinto is available…. ;-)

Fringe is amazing. What an absolute joy “Over There, Pt. 1” was. If you aren’t watching, don’t start now. Catch up on DVD this summer. The show is an all-time classic.

Love alternate realities. Love Harry Turtledove’s novels. I really geek-out over details like alternate maps. One of my favorites is The Two Georges with Richard Dreyfuss, not the greatest of the books, but the concept was titillating. Too bad they missed the opportunity to annex Baja California, as the US had the opportunity to buy when they picked up the Gadsen Purchase. I’ve always imagined how great it would be to have a Florida of the West.

Curious about the time travel episode. Since Fringe works with the latest theoretical “fringe” science, the time travel episode seems to have presented traditional time travel within the same universe, thereby introducing grandfather paradoxes. But isn’t this an old-school idea? Or every time the time traveler jumped back in time, did the universe splinter, essentially introducing us to a similar but different group of main characters? Too bad my boyfriend deleted that episode from the TIVO, as there might be all kinds of interesting clues to reflect subtle changes if that’s what happened. Otherwise, it would seem that the traditional time travel theory is getting elevated to the same academic level as MWI. Curious.

Am I the only one who thinks Lindelof and Cruse made up the “George Lucas” letter?

@ 12.

your not the only one.

Just as they made up the letter, they made up the Lost story as they went. They never really knew where they were going in the first place. But i guess thats the point of the show ??… LOST.

I agree loving fringe and the great acting n stories in it–the alternate olivia was rea very jokey n smiling not at all like her more careful restrained portrayal–keep up the great work on this series mr orci n all involved–cant believe its not more popular–while these mindless reality idol n dance shows continue

Doctor Who rocks! Amy’s Choice is an excellant episode! Had my heart beating fast!

Glad to read that Human Target is coming back.

The Silurians look really good — they could stand toe-to-toe with the Voth and make it work! :)

#10 – Arrgh on “Fringe” bad science. California CANNOT slide into the ocean. The plates are at the same depth and are moving past each other. CA is sliding north a couple inches a year. When the plates lock into place and then spring foward several feet is when you get the large earthquakes like 1906 San Francisco. This map lower’s “Fringe” geology knowledge on par with popcorn like “2012”.

BTW: the 1994 Northridge quake RAISED the local mountains a few inches. Quite the opposite of falling into the Pacific!

Stuff like this irks me because it perpetuates the urban-legend-like thought that could happen to CA. IT CANNOT!

@9: That’s it! Perfect timing! Zach Quinto can play a young William Bell!

#3 | You are so right. He totally had the prequels mapped out but then muffed it all up with Tarzan-swinging wookies, etc… Like you said.

#15. PropperTrekkieUk
“Doctor Who rocks!” – Agreed but so far this season he / it needs to get into gear

“Amy’s Choice is an excellant episode!” – It was the best so far but the backdrop of poor episodes helps it to stand out

“Had my heart beating fast!” – don’t mean to be insulting but really? Old people moving at snails pace – story pace even slower? You need to get out more!

Hey Bob Orci. Season 3 is not realy your problem. It’s your Alternates problem in the Alternate Universe. Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with next. Sad about Flash Forward. Was realy into that show. Kool about V being picked up for another season. Was not much of a Heroes fan after season 1.

Hey Bob Orci. Just havt to ask. How is the Script coming for the next Star Trek Movie.

Calton Cruse, and Damon Lindeloff along with Abrams and the other members of the Supreme Court should start bashing ideas out about a…. Star Trek TV series after the 2nd movie is out….

#16 – You and me both, Dunsel. Each week is like an action feature film, done-in-one … but it also has that serialized mystery through-line that all shows seem to require these days. It and “Eureka” are the only shows in the above round-up that I watch [though a friend has pushed and pushed until I finally put the Fringe first season on my Netflix queue. :-)].

Scott B. out.

Flash Forward is a good show, sorry to see it get the axe, especially when the inferior V is renewed.

Glad to see Human Target renewed.

Bob Orci made me LOL in this thread-post #6. Fringe is terrific, looking forward to the season finale this week.

@21 – All the episodes have been great so far, the worst being the giant space Whale, but that was still good in examining the mind of the Doctor. They have all been brilliant thus far.

And the fast beating was over who the Dream Lord was, as I had guessed but wasn’t sure, and Toby’s excellant acting, not the ‘villian’ as you suggest…

And no, I don’t need to get out more, thanks

On the Fringe map, also note that North Dakota and South Dakota appear to be merged. Only a North Dakotan would notice that.

I am so LOST on Lost. I can’t wait for it to be over. “Across the Sea” again posed more questions than it answered. I never missed a single episode in 6 yrs, but you almost need to go back and watch every episode to get a handle on what is going on here, but, really, I have a job…thanks Darlton!

Glad to see Human Target is returning, although they banished it to the dreaded Friday @ 8 timeslot that claimed Dollhouse and TSCC, Firefly…the list goes on and on…

@28 Kansas and Oklahoma look merged, and Texas is split.

#18 – Perhaps the rifts in their universe that ‘our’ Walter created when he opened the first doorway have something to do with why Cali is underwater. Possibly a massive “Quarantine” gone wrong??

Spielberg’s new Fox series sounds an awful lot like his ‘Earth 2’ series from 20 years ago. That one was pretty good, although it didn’t last.

Wait, “Fringe” is all about two universes? I was going to start watching, but now you’ve spoiled it. THANKS.

Psyched that “Lost” is ending. It’s had some loooooooong dull parts, but it’s going out strong. Good v. Evil? Yeah, why not. At least we didn’t drag any Nazi’s into it.

When is (or are they) SyFy gonna play catch up with Doctor Who? I’ve seen a few of the last Tenant eps, but I don’t think they’ve been on the network yet.

George Lucas can be a classy guy. Sure, the prequels were a disappointment, but he’s been known to take jokes about him fairly well.

Doctor Who feels different this season but in a good way. I like Smith’s Doctor better than Tennant’s. He is more of a “classic” Doctor than Tennant and Ecclestone (liked them both by the way). I can truly believe he’s an old man with a young man’s body. Amy is fantastic as well. A more than adequate companion. Very interested in seeing where this whole mystery about her leads too.

V renewed is not a plus. FF was much better.

RE: FRINGE

Hope the US-Alt map included Minnebraska. It always sounded right.

Reminder to #18: This IS science FICTION.

#37 – Thank you. Wasn’t quite sure how to respond to that particular quibble. If that is the sole reason for not liking a show, well, I guess that means there is not much out there for him to enjoy.

Is that really Bob Orci? Or just some dude trying to be? I honestly am not sure what to think.

Seriously wondering.

@18, my guess is the map is of US territory and Mexico or some other country has the lower part of what is in our world California. Notice the map doesn’t show Mexico or Canada.

#39

That is Bob Orci. Anthony would know since he would find out from the IP whether it is him or not. And Anthony has stated before that imposters would be “permabanned”.

#37, or another way to look at it: This is SCIENCE fiction.

#38, this is the same problem I have with with the Star Trek discussions.

First, it is not your responsibility to respond to his “quibble”, so not sure why it was a quandary for you.

Second: please do point out where in #18’s post that he stated he did not like the show, much less only enjoy entertainment that adheres to hard-science accuracy? Please.

And why is it around here when someone has a legitimate criticism or question, that they are automatically branded “haters” or some-such nonsense?

The creators have established the premise of this show being one of dealing with cutting edge “fringe” science, unlike X-files from which it intentionally takes is inspiration, the “unexplained” is never questioned to be supernatural, but rather the result of a valid explanation taken from present day theoretical physics. Therefore, one has an expectation that the same level of detail is given to all of the science in the series.

Now, when I read Simon’s post, I wondered if there was some theoretical explanation for the loss of CA, since on the surface of it, it defies my current understanding of the geology as well, and I would have simply replied as much.

What I would not have done is assumed he hated the show and was unfairly criticizing it as some kind of Fringe troll. But welcome to Trekmovie.com

Frankly, I had the exact same kind of question in my post at #11. Everything Bob Orci has been telling us in Star Trek is that traditional paradoxical time travel is old-school physics, at least hardly cutting edge. Nevertheless, it appears side by side with the Many Worlds alternate parallel universe theory.

Because I criticize what is happening with my understanding of the show, does that mean I don’t like the show too? Ridiculous.

#33 :: Hide thy eyes from the evil of SPOILERS!
Yeah, there’s a reason I watch this show every Thursday without fail. I know if I don’t, I’ll find a spoiler and be disappointed out of my mind. Kind of like how I didn’t touch the internet for 48 hours when ST09 came out, LOL.
Don’t worry, there’s a lot more to Fringe than just that.

Now.. GO WATCH! -shoos you off-

#40, and thank you MikeTen, for offering a rational explanation to Simon’s question rather than reflexively grabbing for the torches and pitchforks.

Indeed the map does not depict more than the actual United States. And I can totally see an alternate universe where Mexico kept part of CA, particularly the gold-rich parts. This would also quash my hopes for a US owned Baja “Florida of the West” (though I ‘m not entirely sure why the Gadsen purchase was needed if the US had no San Diego or Los Angeles to service).

Clearly it is the “journalist” who jumped to and reported the wrong conclusion to which Simon was merely responding:

“California has clearly suffered a major catastrophe; half of it is gone, presumably underwater.”

#42 – Indeed I enjoy “Fringe” quite a bit. Looking forward to JJ’s new show “Undercovers” as well.

I just hope they don’t explain it as an earthquake related event. It’s possible it was just the result of an overzealous art department. If you want to get really technical the San Andreas Fault goes offshore north of San Fran (and is to the west of the city) so the Bay Area and most of North CA would be unaffected if the Pacific Plate portion of CA “disappeared”.

Obviously plate techtonics and continental drift have the same laws of physics as “our” universe…or else there wouldn’t be any kind of New York or recognizable USA!

I just hate the staple of “CA could/already did slide into the ocean” of a lot of Sci-Fi. Even Gene Roddenberry refrenced “Los Angeles Island” in his novelization of ST:TMP.

#45 and others about the California thing :: I’m not sure the comment was meant as an Earthquake-related event. It may have had something to do with the havoc created in the physical world of that universe by the back-and-forth movement between universes.
I personally didn’t give the line much thought, but hey, anything could have happened. I seriously doubt it was anything quite like 2012 (which was just weird).

The Silurians look really cool! Sleestack on Doctor Who?

#42 and others who are criticizing the “scientific accuracy” of “Fringe”

“Fringe” is a science FICTION show. Just like the Star Trek series were science FICTION shows. I think you miss the point of it all. Which is entertainment FIRST and science second. I think most rational people want to be entertained above all else. Its all good and well to base a show on scientific theories, but if scientific accuracy is what you want, then you will have to give up the entertainment value. Because real science is a lot different from what we have seen in “Star Trek”, “Fringe” and other sci-fi shows and movies. The “science” in most sci-fi properties are only loosely based on real science because if staying true to real science was the goal, than “Fringe” would be a very boring show.
The idea of “Fringe” is the idea of science being taken to the extreme in terms of believability. Hence the title “Fringe”. And Red Skirt, it is clear to the rest of us that you don’t care for “Fringe” or “Star Trek” because you keep getting hung up over small details. Part of the reason “Fringe” is so good is its relative “absurdity” when it comes to the science it presents. That is the point of the show. If you can’t see that, than it is your problem.
People like you miss the big picture because you are fixated on the pixels.

#48 :: How can you know if Red Skirt likes Fringe or not? I don’t recall her expressly saying she doesn’t enjoy it. For all we know, she could think it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread and TOS.

I don’t think people are necessarily criticizing the “science”. We’re simply speculating because it’s enjoyable to pick apart scifi.

Rosario – You should really look into a pilot that NBC is very high on called The Event. It just got picked up, features some Trek vets, & the background has been so well hidden, no one yet knows it’s a genre show that you’ll soon be reporting on right alongside Fringe & Lost. Dig a little deeper – it’s Sci-fi
