Simon Pegg Confirmed To Voice ‘Reepicheep’ in new Narnia Film

Simon Pegg is going from man to mouse. Rumors that Pegg will be replacing actor Bill Nighy to voice the character Reepicheep for the upcoming film The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyager of the Dawn Treader  have been confirmed. Details below.

Pegg replaces Nighy For Next Narnia

In the 2008 film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (the second in Narnia the series), British comedian Eddie Izzard voiced the character of rapier-wielding mouse Reepicheep. For the third film Voyager of the Dawn Treader, currently in production, Izzard had been recast with British actor Bill Nighy. However Narnia Web reported earlier today that Nighy has been replaced by Star Trek’s new Scotty Simon Pegg. And earlier this afternoon Pegg confirmed the report via his Twitter saying "Yes Narnians, the rumours are true. I have gone through the picture in the bedroom."

This will not be Pegg’s first time doing voice work. He voiced Kieron the cast on the UK animated comedy I am not an Animal and has provided voices to a couple of episodes of Robot Chicken, but his biggest voice role has been as the weasel Buck in the 2009 hit movie Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Voyager of the Dawn Treader will be released on December 10th, 2010. Here is a trailer (Reepicheep appears in the trailer, but it doesn’t appear to be Pegg’s voice).

I think Pegg is a good replacement!

Nighy is awesome, really friggin’ awesome, but he’d be a complete change of pace from Izzard. Pegg suits the established character better, methinks.

I loved these books but i wish they had made The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe second or even third. I know that is not chronological but it fels like they are getting their rythm with the movies now and TLWW was the best story.

Saw the preview Dawn Treader weekend in front of Toy Story 3. I’m thinking they used Eddie Izzard from one of the earlier films in the preview.

What happened with Izzard? Did he bow out on his own or was he just not invited back?

“Voyager of the Dawn Treader” ?

I am a huge fan of the “Narnia” books and I am so thrilled Simon will be voicing the part of Reepicheep. He was fantastic as Buck the Weasel in the last Ice Age film. I think he will do an awsome job.
