I want to get the Jellico commic!

While I’m happy to see the Jellico comic, I wonder why they chose that over a a Capt. Garrett feature? I would think the Enterprise C’s final mission fighting the Romulans would alone be enough to create an exciting story for a comic.

I think i could quite like Jellico.
I don’t think he was entirely wrong in chain of command.
He had a mission to do and didn’t have time for a honeymoon period. I believe had got the chance he wouldn;t have been such an ass.
Plus I also think Riker was being a bit pissy himself and didn’t do himself any favours.
I think it will be interesting to see more of the character

#3 Bravo! He got the job done. I think the writers were showing us you could be a completely different type of person (someone Riker or Picard wouldn’t be friends with) and still be a successful Starfleet Officer.

many more interesting captains than Jellico- why did they pick him?

#3

Don’t forget his most important command decision though: to put Troi in a standard uniform. She looked far sexy in a duty uniform than she did in any of those retarded jumpsuits.

#6 Wholeheartedly agree

2nd for CAPT Garrett
and CAPT Garth of Izar please also!

Jellico was clearly a terrific captain who got landed with an insubordinate prima donna of a first officer in the midst of a major diplomatic incident. Riker should have been demoted for his behaviour!

Indeed, given the truth that emerged about Riker’s past activities in relation to a mutiny involving a violation of the Treaty of Algeron, in season 7, the only reason he was likely still a Starfleet officer in the movies was the patronage of Jean-Luc Picard!

#10 – Riker saved Earth in TBOBW, I think Starfleet’s gonna cut him some slack in any situation.

Ooops! I mean #9 (not me!)

#2, 8

IDW was planning to do a “Garrett” issue, but cancelled it for some reason. Which really sucks. Captain Garrett has never gotten the credit she deserved as captain of an Enterprise.

Jellico is an officious jerk!

I find it hard to believe that anyone with such a lack of communication skills or empathy could achieve success as a leader of any kind.

There are so many more deserving Captains to explore; Garrett, Riker, Kern, Decker…why are we wasting time on this jackass?

There’s something about that smiling Cardassian that makes me want to run screaming for a hiding place… o_O

I would like to see IDW do a story about Colonel Green. Talk about a villain. I mean, the guy attacked his enemies during treaty negotiations! How sick is that?

And I too would like to see the Captain Garrett comic get published. She definitely deserved her story to be told moreso than Captain Cameron– uh, Harriman of the Excels– uh, Enterprise-B.

Oh, how about a backstory on Captain J.T. Esteban? We can see his glorious rise through the ranks of Starfleet Accounting until his untimely death at the Genesis Planet with the immortal final words: “Standby for evasive–”

What standby?!!! There’s a frigging Bird of Prey on your butt, and you’ve got a ship the size of bathtub. You go to warp, man! You run for help!

Okay, rant over.

…the size of A bathtub. Jeez, at least Capt. Esteban could type.

Captain Esteban was a moron. Couldn’t do anything without the need to review Star Fleet rules and regulations. And if the Genesis planet was deemed by Star Fleet to be a vital strategic location, why didn’t they send out more ships? Or at least a ship that could defend itself?

#18

Yeah, Captain Bureaucrat was more like it. But maybe the Grissom was “the only ship in the quadrant.” ;)

It always cracks me up at how thinly-stretched Starfleet is. I mean, c’mon, there’s more ships at the local marina.

#19

Yeah, I mean c’mon, how many times when Earth was in danger was there only the Enterprise in the vicinity?

#20

Yeah, that happened way too many times in the TOS movies. I had a few issues with the last movie, but at least the writers gave a good reason for the Enterprise being the only ship out there–the rest of the fleet was either blown to bits by the Narada or dealing with the Klingons or something along those lines (I can’t really remember. I need to watch it again).

@9 Dom

I have to disagree. Riker was defending his captain (Picard) not to mention that that FEMINIST BITCH Adm. Nechaif did not need to transfer Jellico to the Enterprise. They should have let Riker command the Enterprise, I meen HE ONLY SAVED EARTH FROM THE BORG while in command in “Best of both worlds” what more can you ask for?????

#22

Ahem… Data also did have a little something to do with defeating the Borg. But I guess I’m just splitting hairs now. Yes, Riker was indeed in the right to question Jellico’s recklessness. And that scene where Jellico has to swallow his pride and ask Riker to pilot the shuttle is one of the best in all of Trek.

Also, let’s give some credit to Ronny Cox for all that glorious arrogance he brought to the role. And it was nice to see that he did something with his new career in Starfleet, having lost his job at OCP and survived those gunshot wounds and that nasty fall from that Old Detroit highrise. ;)

A comic about Jellico from TNG: “Chain of Command” above the comic about Star Trek 2009. Oh, the irony, the irony!

I want to get the Jelico Comic

Captain Jellico got so tough because he had to work on OCP for too long.

@22

I agree that data had some to do with it but Riker Was in command. What more do you want. He can defeat the Borg, the Cardassians should be simple. I did love jellicos arrogance though, reminded me of Kirk.

I heard that Sir Patrick was not going to reup his contract or was holding out for more money, so they had jellico just incase Sir Steward walked. I dont know if that is true.

#22-
Gee, how socially Star Trekkie aware you are.
#19,#20,#21-
Been saying that for years, one of the horrible cliche’s that Star Trek has engendered about it self. Wonder how many times it’s been used in all those novels that keep flooding the book stores? I’d say that if a real Star Fleet and UFP did exist, it would not survive for long.
Love to see a Captain Rachel Garrett but one about her before the incident with the Romulans. Haven’t read the novel about her so don’t know what it covers. I should do that one day.

Wow… people sure get pissy over funnybooks.

Anyone who says that Riker saving Earth from the Borg is not enough to be Captain of the Enterprise… what the hell is going on with Kirk going from Cadet to Captain because he saved Earth from some lunatic?

#27 – Not a true rumor. Stewart was in it to the end.

Hey IDW… How about getting an app for the Android Market? Please?

who is that cardassian on the cover? gul liberace?

Khan last seen in space seed, don’t you mean the wrath of khan?
