Just a quick update related to an earlier post. An errant line from the LA Times interview with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman has inspired some to jump the gun with articles saying JJ Abrams has confirmed he will direct the Star Trek sequel, however after checking around, nothing yet has changed on the Abrams directing status.
A new Star Trek collectible has been revealed today, and it is yet another cool item for your kitchen or dinner table: an Enterprise & Shuttle Salt and Pepper Shaker. More details below.

As we have been reporting, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman are currently working on the script for the Star Trek sequel. The pair of writer/producers has just given an interview talking Trek. They of course are not talking plot, but they do reveal parts of their approach to their second Trek.
Today is the official release date of Michael A. Martin’s "Star Trek: Typhon Pact: Seize the Fire". “Seize the Fire” focuses on the crew of the USS Titan under the command of Capt. Riker. You can read the first chapter below.
In addition to playing Star Trek: Voyager’s Tuvok, Tim Russ has always been a big fan of Star Trek. In a new interview the actor outlined what he saw as the future of Star Trek on film, and also alluded to possible pitches for a new Star Trek TV series.
In 1965 Gene Roddenberry had submitted his Star Trek pilot “The Cage” to NBC, but the network was having some issues with it. This prompted Roddenberry to write a lengthy defense of Star Trek to his agent to make his position clear as they negotiated to get Star Trek on the air. The holiday season is once again upon us, and again the Commedia Beauregard Theater Company is again staging productions of Charles Dickens’ classic "A Christmas Carol"…performed in the “original Klingon.” You can see these Star Trek-themed productions for the next few weeks in Chicago and the Twin Cities. Today brings another brief comment about the Star Trek sequel from Chris Pine, Star Trek’s new James T. Kirk. In an interview promoting the opening of Unstoppable in the UK, Pine discussed talking about the Star Trek sequel with producer (and possible director) JJ Abrams, who is apparently quite giddy about the movie.
The future history of Star Trek introduced us to many new holidays, like the Federation’s First Contact Day, the Klingon Day of Honor and the Bajoran Gratitude Festival. However, some current holidays persisted into the future, including the American holiday of Thanksgiving, with its traditional meal.

As previously reported, actress Rosario Dawson is a big time Trekkie who is interested in being in the Star Trek sequel. However, apparently she is going about it in a very subtle way, admitting she didn’t even lobby for the role when she met J.J. Abrams, but she is hoping to get the word out that she would make a "sexy Vulcan".
