William Shatner’s Canadian Walk of Fame Star Fixed + Bill Tries To Recreate TJ Hooker Hood Slide

Earlier this year news of cracks in William Shatner’s star on the Canadian Walk of Fame caused a commotion amongst his fans. But everything is OK now, as today his new star was installed in Toronto. Details, and Bill’s response below, plus a bonus video of Shatner’s latest attempt to replicate his famous TJ Hooker car hood slide.

Shatner’s star fixed

Today in Toronto, William Shatner’s star on the Canadian Walk of Fame was replaced. His original red granite star had become cracked and chipped. Shatner’s star was replaced along with a number of other Canadian luminaries. According to the CTV, word of the damaged stars caused a bit of an uproar with hundreds of complaints to city and Walk of Fame officials.

Bill could not make it to the event, but he did tweet about it today, telling fans:

Bonus Bill: Hood slide 1982 v 2010 + more Shatner hood fun

On his 80s cop show TJ Hooker, William Shatner turned sliding across the hood of a car into an art form. Bill has recently replicated his hood slide on the set of his new sitcom $#*!  My Dad Says. Here is a new video comparing the results.

For more Shatner hood fun, check out this scene from the 2002 film Showtime, where he shows Eddie Murphy and Robert DeNiro how to jump across a hood.

And even more hood sliding fun from Shatner’s 1986 Saturday Night Live TJ Hooker skit at, which you can watch at www.tj-hooker.com.

Awesome! That theme music takes me right back to my jr.high days in my beanbag chair before our 19 inch TV in my parents basement!

TJ hooker.. naah

Shatner and De Niro – that’s a new one for me. Love it.

Long Live William Shatner! :)

HDFunny!!! They are showing reruns of TJ on Universal HD remastered in

They are re-running TJ Hooker on Universal HD.

Be careful Bill…break a hip doing the 80 year old hood slide is a sure fire way to fire up the six month countdown clock…

Nice try Shat. Long live the Shat.

Somebody please tell me how ST is better w/out Shatner.

@7 Really?

how the hell did he do that?!?!?! He’s 80 years old!!!!!!! I was really excited watching that but was anyone else afraid for him when he did that?

MAN!!!! That was WORTH every second!!!!!

He’s still got it.

#9. It is left wanting.

Unbelievable! Look in the dictionary and I do believe the very definition of the word Legend is William Shatner!

That is incredible, they don’t make car springs like they used to.

That’s great…just be careful…

*shock* That was not very wise for 80 yo. Especially he is no skinny chicken, so the pressure on the bones might was surely dangerous.

That Shatner never ceases to amaze me.

hmm… now I am thinking if he can role over the car like that, he can surely give a good performance in the next ST movie.

Boys in the hood? Nah, Shat and the hood!

All hail Governor General William Alan Shatner!

Oops — he was only Governor General in an alternate universe.

Oh well — he’s king of all media in this one!

;-)

They can tell you that, but that won’t make it true. :)

Anyway, his star’s fixed and he still makes this hood sliding thing look like fun – go Bill!

LOL!!! William Shatner can be so funny. I agree – he should take care though.

Showtime is one of those underrated movies, imo. Robert DeNiro and Eddie Murphy were great. That movie is such a lot of fun and William Shatner played himself not only giving hood-jumping but also instruction in how to determine whether a white powdery substance was a narcotic or not etc… Shatner did not have a big part, but what he did say and do was certainly memorable.

I have not seen any TJ Hooker here but I loved the skit…LOL

Just watched TOS Devil in the Dark. I have not watched it in a while. The final scene is really great – one of the best with the three, Kirk, Spock and McCoy making it one of the funniest scenes ever with no one having “to chew the scenery”. We need some of that kind of stuff in the sequel. Is it possible? Could it happen? Please – to the writers, director, Pine, Quinto and Urban – make it so!

At his age, that’s pretty impressive.

That poor car.

The Duke boys do it better.

The Shat is awesome.

The older he gets the better he gets …

#25. I bet the Duke Boys talked to the Shat on how to do it.

That theme music is really awful. Has all of the resonance of a car alarm.
Kudos to Shatner for attempting that, but honestly?
Take it easy!

I’m in my 40s, and just looking at that stunt gave me empathy pains!

Just saw Showtime again recently. Love that scene.

Love the Shat.

DeNiro walked through that film and collected his check, while Shatner gave 110%. Of the three legendary actors in that scene, who is the most active today, hmmm?

31

And who is the one actor out of the three that actually EARNS his paycheck? Yup, that’d be William Shatner……the same guy that gets bashed a lot on this site!

Bring on more seasons of T.J. Hooker to DVD!

You know it’s funny. I’ve been actively watching T.J. Hooker on Universal HD every day. I’ve just about finished the first three seasons and something is stunning to me.

Do you know how many hoods Hooker latched onto in three seasons? One!

I thought that was what T.J. Hooker was all about. Sliding on car hoods. But so far only one.

Other than that. The show looks beautiful in HD (even if cropped)

#33 Amen to that. Although, the Universal HD broadcast is so good looking, I’d buy it on Blu.

I think Mr Shatner looked awful winded after his latest hood slide.
Can’t believe he did that.
Amazing Bill
You’re an inspiration to everyone

TJ Hooker jumped on ONE hood during the entire run of the show. It just made the opening credits and was a big part of that SNL skit.

I’m proud of my fellow Montrealer. William Shatner will always be one of the greatest treasures of Montreal, along with the Montreal Canadiens (nhl).

37. Barney

Wow!

I am a good fan of Mr. Shatner, but don’t ask me to watch every episode of TJ Hooker. I don’t think I ever sat through even one.

Whew!

I hope you’re OK, Barn. ; )

Have to be pretty impressed with Shatner doing the comedic ‘falling over the car hood’ bit. Especially at his age.

Further proof that the man is sort of nuts. And I don’t mean that in a bad way. But I also don’t mean that in a completely balanced way either.

He’s still a little Tubby !

Shatner rules, that was hilarious!

What no “I’m too old for that shit” line from shatner?

They should make a TJ Hooker movie with Chris Pine.

Bring on seasons 3-4 of TJ already! Love The Shat!!!

I’ve always been a Shat fan but the real reason I watched TJ Hooker was for Heather Locklear.

Just sayin.

Somebody please tell me how ST is better w/out Shatner.

There won’t be any Star Trek to begin with!

Think about it – some old timer breaks their hip, and they are dead six months later. Bill’s hurting his chances to front a major motion picture taking chances like that.

48

William Shatner appears to be in far better shape than most others his age. I can’t see him breaking a hip. And even if he does, he’d get the best medical attention in the world because no surgeon in his right mind would want to see Captain Kirk die in front of them. :-)

He already had a hip replacement folks
