During Sunday night’s Super Bowl, Fox debuted the first footage from the upcoming Steven Spielberg-produced prehistoric time-travel series "Terra Nova". Watch the TV spot below:

The show is executive produced by Brannon Braga and will preview during a special two-night event Monday, May 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Tuesday, May 24 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, before joining the network’s fall lineup.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome cast additions + Pilot script review + BSG bible and 12 Colonies map

Syfy has cast Luke Pasqualino and Ben Cotton in the 2-hour pilot "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome". Pasqualino will star as a young William Adama, while Cotton will play Adama’s superior Coker:

Pasqualino will star as the young, talented fighter pilot William Adama, a recent Academy graduate who finds himself assigned to the newest Battlestar in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with Coker (Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 45 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.

The two-hour pilot was written by Michael Taylor from a story by David Eick. Read the complete press release here. And for those interested, Moviehole.net has written up a review of the pilot with the site often noting its connections to J.J. Abrams’ "Star Trek":

"And let me say right off the bat, if you like Ron Moore’s “Galactica” reboot, and to an extent J.J Abrams’ “Star Trek”, you’re gonna love “Battlestar Galactica : Blood & Chrome”. It’s Frakkin’ Excellent."

"Obviously inspired by Orci and Kurtzman’s “Trek” reboot script…"

…before closing with this line:

"As I said, it’s very Abrams’ “Star Trek” (there’s even a sequence set on an Ice Planet that Adama and Coker crash on) but mostly, it’s the “Battlestar Galactica” you know and love – what with it’s cool-ass spacely dogfights, twists and turns, treachery… I think this will be a huge hit."

V season finale will end with massive cliffhanger + Interview with Steve Pearlman

Despite the very real possibility of "V" getting canceled due to low ratings, Inside TV | EW reports that the producers of the show have decided to end the second season with a massive cliffhanger. The second season will run only 10 episodes (ABC cut the 13-episode order down by three episodes a few months ago). In other news, The V Files spoke with executive producer Steve Pearlman about the series. Relatedly, here’s what Pearlman had to say about the show’s murky future:

TVF: Fans are fearing that we won’t see a Season Three, and that the Season Two Finale will leave fans with a cliff hanger, due to ratings ( Which are still pretty good ) and ABC’s decisions..

SP: We’re obviously hoping for a Third Season.. We have deals in place for the Cast, and out sets and sound stages are still there waiting for us.. The Studio is actually spending a lot of money protecting for the possibility of a Third Season.. But as with any show, it all comes down to ratings.. Are people watching?? Facebook chatter is great, and DVR recordings is great, but the one thing that makes the biggest impression to a Network is waking up the next morning and seeing that the overnight ratings have gone up..

As for a cliffhanger, out Season Two Finale definitely wraps up several stories that we’ve been telling throughout the Season, but we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we didn’t leave the audience wanting more.. So yes, there are a number of cliffhangers at the end of the Season.. Hopefully enough people will be watching by then that a Third Season is a foregone conclusion..

The CW announces two-hour series finale for Smallville + Vandervoort and Callum set to return

The CW has announced that "Smallville" will go off the air on Friday, May 13 with a two-hour series finale television event (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET):

"Paying homage to 10 seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important to everyone involved in the show,” said executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders. “We’re excited to be able to make the final moments of Smallville a television event, as the character we’ve grown up with makes his legendary transformation."

The two-hour finale will pre-empt the scheduled episode of "Supernatural", which itself will have its own two-hour finale the following week on Friday, May 20 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.). Here’s another excerpt from The CW press release on "Smallville":

The story of a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and his journey to become the Man of Steel has captivated audiences for a decade. This final season, Clark attempts to find a balance between saving the world, which becomes even more difficult as the Vigilante Registration Act separates a nation, and spending time with his new fiancée Lois Lane (Erica Durance). Whether it’s donning glasses as a disguise, changing in a phone booth or learning how to fly, this season has put Clark closer to his destiny than ever before. Taking on Darkseid and battling the darkest of his demons, this two-hour event will send Clark soaring towards his birthright to secure his place in history as the world’s greatest protector.

In casting news, TV Line reports that Laura Vandervoort will reprise her role as Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) in one of the show’s final five episodes, marking the actress’ second guest stint this season. Meanwhile, TV Guide reports that Callum Blue will reprise his role as Zod — also in one of the show’s final five episodes. In other news, there’s still a question as to whether Clark will put on the suit and take flight as Superman. Executive producer Brian Souders did tell TV Line that they’ve "…talked about a couple [options], but…haven’t solidified anything". But Souders teases that upcoming episodes will deal with Clark concealing his identity…with Lois’ help:

“She’s kind of all over him as far as how he’s dressing, what his hair looks like… but for a very, very good reason,” says Souders. As for the precise why now and how of the makeover, Souders teases: “Stay tuned — but if you’re a hardcore Superman fan, you’ll enjoy the ride. It’s a lot of fun.”

Despite several storylines planned for the final half of the season, Souders says that in the end, "the main arc is Clark eventually turning into Superman." And recent images confirm that. You can catch "Smallville" Friday night’s at 8PM on The CW. Here are a few bites to round out this week’s  "Smallville" coverage, followed by the latest images and videos:

  • Check out an interview with Erica Durance discussing her character Lois Lane and how she’d like for the show to end at Collider
  • …Durance also says that upcoming episodes will deal with Lois and Choloe resolving their friendship: "Lois and Chloe are like sisters, so she knows Chloe had a good reason for leaving…But there’s such a history between Chloe and Clark and the way they left off and why she left, so they have to deal with a lot of things to resolve their friendship." [TV Guide]
  • Episodes 19 will be called "Dominion" and episode 20 will be called "Prophecy"…
  • …Also, the episodes "Kent" and "Booster" have been switched, with "Kent" now episode 10×17 and "Booster" now episode 10×18. A reminder that "Booster" was written by Geoff Johns. [KryptonSite]
  • Rumors continue to persist that Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luther) will return, but there has been no confirmation and time is starting to run out. The latest rumor comes from IMDB which lists the actor has among the cast for episode 20 – "Prophecy". [via SpoilerTV]

Transformers: Prime premieres this Friday + New image and video + Second season already in the works

"Transformers: Prime" returns to The Hub this Friday with the rest of its 26-episode first season (the show premiered as a five-part miniseries last year). "Transformes: Prime" is written and produced by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (the two co-wrote "Transformers" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"). io9 spoke with Orci and executive producer Jeff Kline about the series, and the two told them that the TV show gives them a better opportunity to explore the Transformers universe over season arcs rather than being constrained by limited runtimes in the movies. There will also be more screentime for the Transformers because unlike in the movies — the CG is very expensive for Transformers on screen — there’s really no limit in animation. Kline also confirmed to io9 that a second season has already been commisioned. Check below for an image of the new Decepticon, Skyquake, and a promo for this Friday’s episode. "Transformers: Prime" airs Friday night’s at 6:30 ET on The Hub.

Rumor: McG to direct NBC’s Wonder Woman pilot

McG is reportedly the front runner to direct the pilot for NBC’s "Wonder Woman" remake. The recently greenlit project is produced and written by David E. Kelley. Meanwhile in related news, Bleeding Cool has read a draft of the pilot script and summarizes it as a "slightly goofy comedy-drama about a hotshot business woman who moonlights as a superheroine." More, spoiler-lite, details here.

Previously on TrekMovie.com: Nimoy Planning Return To Fringe

Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek’s Spock Prime, was supposed to be retiring, however that break seems to be delayed. Nimoy has already announced a number of convention appearances, and now the actor says he may be returning to TV to reprise his role on the Fox sci-fi show Fringe.

Yeah! Awesome to see that Torchwood is finally coming back! Wow, it all looks awesome. Can’t wait. 2011 is a good year to be a sci fi / good show watcher!

Smallville finale?

Harry’s En-Durance test is fast coming to a close… :D

They should not cancel “V”. I think it’s trashy (definitely trashy), but I like it. :)

Interesting fact: the aforementioned IMDB also states that CAlum Blue will be reprising his role as ZOd for all 5 of the final episodes of Smallville…

2.

Maybe the series finale of Smallville will be a western, where they finally throw a saddle on that horse-of-a-woman Durance and ride her around the stables! What a hulking slab of beef!

There’s a possibility we won’t see Clark in the classis Superman outfit? After 10 years of waiting….I’ve been expecting at least a big reveal in the final scene. Better yet, the last two hour episode is in effect a Superman movie.

If he doesn’t throw on the tights at all…major disappointment!

#5 THAT WAS TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR! DURANCE MIGHT NOT BE YOUR CUP OF TEA BUT CALLING HER A HORSE IS JUST CRUEL! Sure you’re not infected by Darkseid?;)

Sounds like BAD news for Wonder Woman… :(

The US version of Being Human really pales in comparison to the original. Aidan is a pretty sad imitation of Mitchell. The depth just isn’t there, though maybe it eventually will be.

8.

Okay, fair point. Let me put it this way….I love the show Smallville, but I’ll be happy when it goes off the air because Durance will then be relegated to doing dinner theatre in Arizona…..and, thankfully, I never get to Arizona!

Clark had better be Superman in the Cape. They owe us at least an hour of Clark as Superman. Oh and Harry is not Infected with Dark side. He is just being himself. Right Harry. Liking the Transformers series. BSG Blood and Chrome looks to be Fracking Great. Cant wait to see it. Rosario. Great Scifi T.V Article.

Right, Commodore Mike! :>)

11

Dinner theatre? Good idea! No one goes to them anymore anyways, so sending Erica Durance there will do no one any harm!

I fraking hope Blood & Chrome isn’t another Caprica. If it even is half as good as Galactica was I’ll be happy.

Smallville cast should do the next Superman movie.

11.

Harry, if you ever get to Arizona, you’ll get a free ticket to Mexico!

Ay Carumba!!

thundercats!!!

“‘Transformers: Prime’ returns to Cartoon Network this Friday with the rest of its 26-episode first season (the show premiered as a five-part miniseries last year). ”

I think you meant the Hub. You got my hopes up about seeing it on Cartoon Network, but from what I can tell by googling it, it will only be on CN internationally. =\

If we don’t see Clark become Superman in the final Smallville episode and get some real “super” stuff going on for at least 30 minutes, I believe a lot of Superman and Smallville fans are going to feel very ripped off.

Quite rightly so too. It will be a real low note to go out on.

But whatever happens, at least Harry will be happier…..

Just watched the first couple of episodes of Outcasts. Now I am a big Sci-Fi fan, but for some reason I just don’t find this engaging. The effects, sparse though they are are okay. Even the storyline has some intrigue.
There is a good cast, with a couple of outstanding actors. Hermione Norris to name just one.

But it just is not hooking me and bringing me in. It just seems a bit slow and ordinary at the moment.

V is getting batter and better lately.

BTW Chris Pine got tangled by V star Laura Vandervoort

http://perezhilton.com/2011-02-08-laura-vandercoort-dating-chris-pin

I Love Erica Durance.

Supernatural.
Probably the 1st series I will ever buy on DVD (or Blueray, if I get around to it)..

thunder….Thunder… THUNDERCATS HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Ah to be a kid again! :)

He aint wearin the suit.

#11- Hey Harry! Look!!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41480994/ns/us_news-weird_news/?gt1=43001

US Being Human- MAKE IT STOP!!!

The new Thundercats looks pants!

Mother says that the original looks ways better…

As for the Smallville finale, me and mother are not going to hold our breaths…

#15 Agreed. I just could not get into Caprica much as I enjoy a good character driven drama.

Here’s hoping the new Galactica has good characters, a bit more action, and a little less of the randomness that typically is inherent in an RDM directed series…

I don’t understand what Harry has against Durance. I think she’s hot. Her acting is not bad either. At least its better than that wooden Welling. He’s the worst.

I love Being Human. I prefer the British version, but the American one is better than I thought. My favortite current show.

Young Justice is awesome as well. Best incarnations of DC heroes in animation yet.

Transformers Prime is OK, my son loves it. But for me, it’s frustrating. The dialogue is so…I dont know…forced and seems clipped, like there are whole lines missing.

Too bad they struck the Galactica sets from BSG. Sounds like, logically, the ship should look exactly the same, just newer. What are they going to do, digital sets from photographs?

V is a decsent show, give it some time. All that’s left is American Idiot, I mean idol, 5 CSI’s. Once people hear a show “could” be cancelled, it’s done. If we are lucky, maybe another season of Fringe. How about a reboot of “space above and beyond”? Look at ST TOS, canceled after 3 years, now how many variations have there been?Movies? They cancelled the other show in luie f V, now V is on it’s way out. I don’t want to start watching any new shows of interest, because they get cancelled. Stupid !!!

28.

Thanks for showing us that! Hmmpphh!! I see nothing wrong with his name!

I enjoyed the old Superboy series (both actors) more than anything I’ve ever seen on Smallville. I don’t think a final scene of him in the suit (maybe) will change that.

#24

“I love Erica Durance.”

It seems that you enjoy torturing yourself then!

I saw one of the actors that played “Superboy” in that crappy 90’s, rabbit ear channel, show, at a comic book convention about 15 years ago. He was at a table and was offering autographs only no one was asking for them. Finally I walked up and he seemed appreciative that someone was going to talk to him. I said “so……you’re Superboy?” He replied “Yes I am. Do you want an autograph?” I replied after a lengthy pause “…………………….nope.” Then I just walked away.

37

OUCH!

Thanks for linking the Bible of BSG :)
It interesting to note that “on BSG the pressure must never let up, the cylons could appear at anytime”
Maybe that is why a lot of us had problems with Caprica, there just was not that same sense of urgency but a hell of a lot of angst, ANYWAY

GOOD LUCK to Blood and Chrome

#23 So it must be true. Perez Hilton has said it…”according to inside sources…” LOL HAHAHA.

Of course, Harry Ballz has already got CP and LV entered into the 2011 Hetero-Bangathon event! LOL

Nothing’s simple anymore. Two people, who worked together a few weeks before in a professional capacity on a movie, can’t just catch up for a few minutes sharing a coffee and sandwich…

I am beginning to see why Dee puts so many LOLs and HAHAHAHAs in her posts. What else can you do? LOL HHAHAHAHA!

#11

Harry, Arizona has enough problems! Let Florida take Durance.

#30

I’m not sure you could get more character-driven than Caprica.

Hey let LA take Durance.

LA usually gets attacked and obliterated by aliens.

@39
It was Dallas except on Caprica at times.

41.

sean

Yeah, Florida DOES have a lot of crappy dinner theatre! Perfect for a non-talent!

Hmm… V is struggling in the ratings? Let’s see….they trickle a few episodes at a time with huge gaps between the trickles. I just can’t figure out why this show hasn’t caught on. (that’s sarcasm folks)

@31: “I don’t understand what Harry has against Durance….”

It’s a matter of taste. My friends all tell me Entourage is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I can’t watch more than 5 minutes of anything Jeremy Piven-related without wanting to feed him to Reavers….. >:-)

47.

Thank you, Carl. Your Piven example illustrates exactly how I feel about Durance.

Screw the stupid networks!!!! They bring about their own downfalls with ratings and eventual cancellations by not giving shows the care they deserve… lengthy hiatuses, shorter & shorter seasons, cropped episodes, poor advertising, time shifting… they end up killing off their own TV offspring instead of birthing programs & nurturing them through developmental stages… It really angers & annoys the Hell out of me that good shows don’t stand a chance to evolve into something before they are annihilated! What a waste of money to develop a new series and then not invest in it properly, why even bother at all? If “V” is cancelled that would be the worst crime of the year as it is a great show with massive potential, and has only gotten better since the introduction of Diana (jane Badler). To end on a cliffhanger is exciting, but is also reminiscent of the old “V” TV series, and would be aggravating if not picked up for a third season. Also, as excited as I am about a New Wonder Woman series, and as much as I like David E. Kelly’s works, I am worried that his take on it will be too silly to handle! I hope he doesn’t destroy my Iconic childhood heroine by making her completely unrecognizable.I want her to be WW with tiara, bracelets, lasso, Greek Amazonian Heritage or it just won’t be Wonder Woman. Once again, why bother… if you want something else, create it & name it accordingly, not pretend it’s something it’s not!!

another great article!
