Zoe Saldana signed for ‘The Words’ + photos from Cannes
Star Trek’s Zoe Saldana has been attached to the indie film The Words, which also stars Bradley Cooper, Dennis Quaid and Jeremy Irons. Saldana’s confirmation for the project was made by Twitter by executive producer Cassian Elwes shortly before he left for the Cannes Film Festival to shop the film for buyers. The film will be directed by Tron: Legacy scribes Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal from their script and is about "a man who discovers there’s a price to pay for stealing someone else’s work" and it may have some genre element. The film is being produced by Benaroya Pictures who recently financed Zachary Quinto’s Margin Call. The Words is likely to shoot after the Star Trek sequel.
Speaking of Cannes and Saldana, today Zoe is in France attending the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Here are photos of the actress attending the "The Tree Of Life" premiere.

Chris Pine in talks for ‘Mud’
In other Cannes-related news, the LA Times picked up word at the fest that Star Trek’s Chris Pine is in talks to star in a new film called Mud. Director Jeff Nichols is at Cannes showing off his highly-praised drama Take Shelter and confirmed the project was in the works but wouldn’t comment on Pine’s talks. Nichols did reveal that Mud is about "two 14-year-boys who come across an adult fugitive of the law, the titular Mud (who would be played by Pine) and must help him escape off an island in the Mississippi." As this is in the very early stages, Mud would be something Pine would not likely shoot until next year following the Star Trek sequel and the Jack Ryan reboot.

“Mud” sounds interesting. Does bear more than a slight resemblance to a scene from “Cool Hand Luke” though…
Mud does sound interesting.
Zoe looks as HOT!!!! as ever.
Dallas Comis Con. I will be there.
It has just been confirmed that Mudd is a major player in the next Trek.
Despite my misgivings to Zoe’s take on Uhura at times I have to say she is really hot looking.
Zoe looks great in Cannes… I loved her outfit!
What about Chris Pine and his probable new project… ” Mud “… I ‘m curious… will this film, made before Trek 2? … and “the beard and the Scruffy way”, lately? … has something to do with “Mud”?
:-) :-)
#3.
CP for Mud … but not Harry! …LOL
:-) :-)
Different family – Harry comes from the MudD family whereas Pine’s character comes from the Mud (one ‘d’). If it goes ahead, it gets filmed after Star Trek. Star Trek IS, HAS TO BE, MUST BE first! Having to wait another year (or more possibly?) to see “my captain” is becoming a difficult wait.
Bob Orci?
OT – just watching news footage about the flooding Mississippi River and opening the floodgates in Louisiana to reduce rising levels of the river. You guys are really having it rough at the moment. Prayers and blessings to everyone caught up in this natural disaster, as well as those hurt by all those tornadoes…
# 7 – Ok! … Keachick… but of course we can make a joke about it, is not it? … LOL
… and before or after Trek 2?? … Well, latimes.com says “talks were ongoing”… but after Star Trek will come Jack Ryan presumably … they would be negotiating now to shoot after such feature films? … whatever! … I think more likely that if true with CP, “Mud” will be filmed before Star Trek… my guess! …
… anyway there is no information about the script of Mud …in wich phase is… but if they are already negotiating … I presume that the script is ready, unlike Trek 2!
Oh rumors!!! …LOL
:-) :-)
Zoe looks awesome! Love the dress!! Mud sounds like something I;d go see,..but I’d more than likely have to go see it alone,no body I know likes the kind of moies I do! Oh well,I’ll just have fun with out them! :)
sorry,missed the ‘v’ in ‘movies’!
Yum.
There is an actual “Mud Island” in the Mississippi River. Perhaps that is where the title comes from.
Zoe looks absolutely beautiful!
