Sneak Peek Of Syfy’s “Alphas” – Produced By Star Trek: DS9’s Ira Steven Behr

In July Syfy are launching a new series – Alphas. This new show about ordinary people with extraordinary abilities is executive produced by Ira Steven Behr – known to Trek fans as the writer/exec. producer and show-runner for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. We have pictures, a sneak peek preview and more details on Alphas below.

First look at "Alphas" – produced by DS9’s Behr

Alphas, premiering on Syfy July 11 at 10/9c, was created by comic book movie writer Zak Penn (X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers) and Michael Karnow, directed by Jack Bender (Lost). The show is executively produced by Ira Steven Behr (The 4400, Deep Space Nine, Dark Angel). The series is a procedural thriller about ordinary people with extraordinary mental and physical abilities that operate within a special branch of the Department of Defense and are tasked to investigate cases committed by others with Alpha abilities.

Emmy® winner and Academy Award nominee David Strathairn (Temple Grandin/Good Night, and Good Luck) headlines a cast of both familiar and new faces including Warren Christie (October Road), Malik Yoba (New York Undercover), Laura Mennell (Watchmen), Ryan Cartwright (Bones) and Azita Ghanizada (Castle). Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica/24) guest stars in the pilot.

Here is a sneak peek trailer showcasing how the team of Alphas came together and how each of them stretch the capabilities of the human mind. They don’t know they’re being brought in to be a part of what looks like a SWAT team to solve crimes, but their skills are harnessed and perfected by Dr. Rosen (Strathairn).

And here are some images from the show:

Alphas premieres on Syfy Monday July 11 at 10PM.

Good for Ira ! I will check the pilot out !

I thought this show’s previews looked good and I didn’t know Mr. Behr was involved in this show. Now that I know I will definitely check this show out.

Cool…another show with Warehouse and Eureka for my wife and I to enjoy…

Callum Keith Rennie was all I needed to read.

Heros part Duex, No Ordinary Familiy revisited. Come on, enough with the superheros.

hopefully this will stay longer than no ordinary famliy and the cape

worth a look i am sure steven ira behr would not work on rubbish

David Strathairn will be in the Star Trek sequel.

Yes, I just made that up.But, it was out of love.

The man can act.

Sort of a merger of a serious Jake 2.0, plus the 4400, plus Heroes, plus etc. Not exactly a new concept… but done seriously, with a well-built backstory as Ira can do best…. could be fascinating.

That younger boy looks really cute. Sold!

5th picture down, boy Jack was really serious about getting everyone to go back to the island….

I wasn’t looking forward to Alphas much before, but I’m pretty excited now, after seeing the trailer!

Behr’s great. Strathairn’s great. Hm…

Ah, hell. I swore I wouldn’t watch the Wrestling Channel anymore (except for ST, of course,) but now they got Behr, and it’s got Strathairn in it… What to do?

6th pic, “something” tries to escape;)

Who wants to bet that SYFY will cancel this show halfway through second season and fire the crew through twitter, so SYFY can add more wrestling to the channel or reruns of that poor poor mess known as wh13?

A “Heros” reboot?

If you go back far enough, it sounds similar to an old British series called the ‘Champions’, where after crashing in the himilayas three people were mysteriously saved and had their senses retuned to the optimum and became operatives, using their heightened powers to their advantage.
