Orci & Kurtzman Exploring Possibilities For New Animated Star Trek + Say Sequel Delay Time Not Wasted

In a new interview Star Trek co-writer/producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have given an update on a possible new animated Star Trek series, saying they would love to do it if they could. They also talked about how all the time waiting for JJ Abrams to finish Super 8 wasn’t wasted. Details below.


Star Trek Loves Lucy

Today, Saturday August 6th, marks what would have been Lucille Ball’s 100th birthday. While best known as the star of the groundbreaking sitcom I Love Lucy, Lucile Ball was also instrumental in getting Star Trek off the ground. If Gene Roddenberry is the father of Star Trek, then Ball is sort of Trek’s godmother.


Streaming Deals (& Star Trek) Help Boost CBS Profits

As previously reported, during 2011, CBS has been cutting new streaming video deals with Netflix and Amazon, which include Star Trek content. Not only has this been a boon for Trek fans, but it appears to be a big money maker for CBS. This week the company reported their second quarter profits, which were up significantly and much of the gains were attributed to their new streaming video deals.








Orci & Kurtzman: Star Trek Sequel Schedule Still Not Set – Already Working As Fast As They Can

Last week Paramount finally acknowledged that the sequel to the 2009 Star Trek movie has been delayed. Paramount did not set a new release date and now co-writer/producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman say the schedule is still up in the air, but they are already working as fast as they can.



Exclusive Video: William Shatner On His (Unseen) ‘Star Trek’ Scene & Appearing In Sequel

Last week at the Epix outdoor screening of The Captains in Los Angeles I had a chance to talk briefly to William Shatner about that Star Trek 2009 scene written for (but never shown to) him. Bill wondered why they never showed him the scene and said that he would consider returning to the role of Kirk, even for a short scene as a recording. Watch the video interview below.

As reported before, Syfy’s Monday nights are now full of Star Trek guest star appearances. Last week Star Trek: DS9’s Rene Auberjonois joined Warehouse 13 and this week it is Star Trek Voyager’s Plus Star Trek: TNG’s Wil Wheaton is back on Eureka tonight.
