Watch: Star Trek In The Park On ‘Portlandia’ + Ron Moore Guest Stars In BSG Skit

For the last couple of summers TrekMovie has reported the fun Trek in the Park plays from the Atomic Arts theater company in Portland, OR. Now the group has gained new famed, being featured in the latest episode of IFC’s comedy Portlandia. Check out a clip of that below, plus a clip of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica’s Ron Moore guest starring in a BSG-themed segment.

Trek in the Park

The second season of IFC’s comedy Portlandia, co-created and starring SNL’s Fred Armisen, aired its fifth episode ("Cops Redesign") on Friday. The episode opened with an incident during a performance of "Trek in the Park," featuring the Atomic Arts theater group. Check it out.

And speaking of Trek/sci-fi connections, the 2nd episode of the season (“One Moore Episode) had a major Battlestar Galatica theme with Fred and Carrie becoming so obsessed with BSG that they solicit "Ron Moore" to write another episode, but they just picked a random Ron Moore out of the phone book. BSG stars James Callis and Edward James Olmos guest starred as themselves, with the real Ronald D. Moore appearing as a guy from a local theater group. Watch the clip.

Omg the BSG stuff is classic.

“I’ve never been in space… ever!” Ha ha! Yes, classic indeed!

That was awesome.

Looking forward to “Journey to Babel” this year. :D

This would make a great “spin off” TV show

:oD

“Flying the frake all over the place”.

I love Portlandia. Such a funny show (especially if you’ve ever visited or lived in Portland).

Too funny. EJO looks to be having fun smashing his star persona, something Shat has taken as a full-time career.

Oh my Gods that is frakkin hilarious !!

Mongo think BSG skit funny!

Mongo love BSG. Ending not so good but not take away from enjoy of show. Maybe Ron Moore mans think about make more BSG show and just say that ending was dream.

Like in TV show Dallas.

Portlandia is the funniest show on tv!!!

That BSG skit is the only reason I gave Portlandia a shot and now I’m hooked. Great stuff.

Guess I’ll go down as the only one who thought the entire thing was boring and unfunny.

Yawn…………

Portlandia funny. Network sitcoms not funny.

Mongo been busy I see…

Portlandia is terrible. It’s like the last half of SNL, where they bury the shitty skits that go on…and on…and on….

Fun clips. At least I could actually watch these. Thank you.

I think that (as mentioned above) you really have to live there (or have visited) to get the vibe of the show. I mean, they had a full on parade of Allergy sufferers. That Todd Margaret show that follows it… hoo boy- that one suffered some Arrested development.

Good to see Ron D. Moore and EJO again.

Yup. Spent a week there last year…and the show really nails it. lol I love Portlandia, but probably wouldn’t have appreciated it quite as much had I not spent some time there exploring. It’s a fun place.

Battlestar One Moore Episode was perfect!

VERY Entertaining!

*shaking head* sooo bad, soooo funny…. LOL… i might check this show out…

Just so you know, Portland Mayor Sam Adams is featured in the first video!

I really NEED to start watching this; that BSG clip was frakking (freaking?
;-P) awesome!! They even had similar Bear McCreary-sounding music cues. And yes, I had a brief nerdgasm moment just hearing Edward James Olmos speaking “Adama” again, if only for a second. Love the other “Ron Moore” too. They were such good sports to do that scene.

And of course, the Doctor Who ending with Olmos, fast asleep on the couch…
;-D

This show looks like it could really give “Big Bang Theory” a run for it’s money, especially since BBT’s been kind of off it’s game a bit lately.
I’ve got IFC; I need to catch this….

I want more BSG. (sigh)

Me to, TrekofTreat. Me too.

Mongo too, Trek or Treat persons. Mongo too.

Yeah, I really miss BSG. What an awesome show.

Sure would be good to have “One Last Roundup” with the BSG crew… how about it the Real Ron Moore… Something like… ten years after finding Earth, the colony gathers. Kind of a “Very Brady Christmas” concept, but with something drawing them together. Adama’s death? No, that would rule out EJO having a major role. Then again… maybe that would work. His personal Valkyrie, Starbuck, could be escorting him to the happy hunting ground in the sky… or something.

The Mayor is so great! Trek in the park was the reason I moved to Bridgetown

In real life at Trek in the Park, the entire field behind the actors is also filled with audience overflow.
So many nerds in Portland!!!

BSG skit, funny!!!

I watched Trek in the mark front and center when they did Space Seed a few years back. It was amazing. Love living in Portland (sometimes…)
