Star Trek: TNG – Second Season Blu-ray Arrives 12/4‏ [UPDATED]

This afternoon CBS provided TrekMovie with the offical details on their upcoming release of the second season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-ray, due out December 4th in the USA. See below for full disc-by-disc details.

Below are selections from the CBS Press Release:

Adding to the exclusivity and collectability of the Blu-ray release is an HD, “Extended Cut” of “The Measure of a Man,” this includes deleted scenes and different angles from the broadcast version. The original version of the episode is included, as well as a “Hybrid Extended Cut,” combining the high-definition on-air version of “The Measure of a Man” with video of the extra material taken from an early VHS rough-cut of the episode that was in the writer’s (Melinda Snodgrass) archives.

The spectacular collection boasts a must-see reunion of the cast, who were brought together earlier this year in Calgary as part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the series. Produced exclusively for the series’ Blu-ray, this never-before-seen reunion roundtable chat features all of the best known cast regulars, joining together for the first time in years to tape a discussion about the legacy of the series.

It also includes over120 minutes of brand-new special features, including a two-part, in-depth documentary on the making of Season 2 entitled “Making It So: Continuing Star Trek: The Next Generation” – Strange New Worlds (Part 1), and New Life and New Civilizations (Part 2), and a gag reel that was created from newly recovered 35mm film elements and transferred for the very first time to high-definition.

As with Season One, the discs contain 1080p video with English 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, English Stereo Surround, French Mono, Italian Mono, Castilian Mono, Japanese Mono and German Mono. The discs also include English SDH, French, German, Castilian, Italian, Japanese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish subtitles.

Yeah, what happened to this site? it used to post actual news on the TREK MOVIES…. oh well

Sorry, but this is old news. Now Trekmovie’s new news is old news because of the long vacations.

http://trekweb.com/articles/2012/09/05/Next-Generation-Season-2-Coming-to-BluRay-December-2012.shtml

@2 – Today is the first time the full disc breakdown has been announced. The release date has been known, but not the rest. So chill, dude!

The Trekweb article also said what was on the discs.

Where did the “Q Who” commentary go?

Sorry, I guess the Trekweb story didn’t have a per disc breakdown. Guess I am still tired of the long vacations this site has and if it will go on another one after this article.

I have to agree with Craiger, when the first movie came out this site was updated nonstop, now its like three weeks then a crappy book review, then nothing again

What happened to the rumored Diana Muldaur interview?

Why doesn’t this site just sell / give itself to http://trekweb.com team? Why let it die a slow cancerous death?

What is the reason for the slow demise of this once great web site, is Anthony not well?

I agree with other comments about the terrible state of affairs this site has sunk to… I have just officially deleted TrekMovie from my bookmarks bar and just replaced it with TrekWeb. This site is finished for me… pointless to keep checking it when only one crap book review is added every 3-4 weeks….

I STRONGLY URGE EVERYONE READING THIS TO DO THE SAME AND FOREVER SHUN THIS DYING SITE NOW AND FOREVER. GO TO TREKWEB.COM WHICH IS UPDATED DAILY…
AS FOR ME, ADIOS AND GOODBYE TREKMOVIE.COM!

It has been reported that JJ is thrilled yet terrified that Disney bought Star Wars. Probably afraid that the synopsis and trailer for Episode 7 will be out before the rumored STDID Movie.

BOO!

Some people could at least acknowledge the poster of this article, who has taken time to work on and put up this content for you, before going on another tirade about how the site is crap. Really. :/

I have no doubt several of the complainers are just the same person signing in under multiple names. If you’re done with this site, JUST LEAVE ALREADY. We don’t need your dramatic exit statements.

#s 13 and 14.

I agree.

Thanks for the article, Matt Wright!

I join Nony, Sean & RDR in thanking Matt Wright for the article.

Hopefully the site will come back to it full operations & provide us with news & related articles like sci-fi news.

AH, TNG season 2… The days when Rick Berman was in weaker role, technobabble was not yet rearing its’ ugly head and the incidental music actually sounded GOOD (“Where silence has lease” is a prime example of a show with great incidental music, as is “Q who?”).

I have always had a fondness for season 2. I’m not sure why. Granted, there were A LOT Of clunkers in this season, but when the season worked, it worked well. I also feel that Diana Muldaur never got enough credit. I thought she shook up the cast and made them a lot less “Stiff”. She had some great interactions with Worf and, by the seasons end, her and Data were on much better terms. I was looking forward to seeing her in season 3 because I felt she added a certain dynamic that was lacking in season 1. I just never cared for the “Crusher family” or the Picard/Crusher stuff. I just felt it was dull and it never went anywhere.

Anyway, it will be cool to see “The Measure of a Man” in an extended form. It’s a shame they couldn’t have done the same for “Q Who?”. “Q Who?” is an episode that never gets enough credit. in my opinion, it’s one of the most important episodes in the entire TNG series.

Not that this story doesn’t warrant a post on this site, but why is this posted and yet the announcement of the Into Darkness Prequel comics or the Novelization is taking a backseat? It’s almost as if the people behind the scenes are PURPOSELY avoiding as much obvious “Into Darkness” news as possible. This site has become a FAR CRY from what it was 4 years ago.

Chill out peeps, people cannot always commit the time they want to, to maintain a site and when we do get posts on trekmovie, they are usually of a very high quality. I suspect we will get more and more updates nearer the release date too.

If you like another site, then just check that site too.

It takes virtually no time at all to keep in touch with many sites by simply subscribing to their feeds using Google Reader or something similar. Set that up as one of your app tabs and/or use a smartphone app to keep getting updates.

LL&P

Whoopdie fricking doo….where is some news on the sequel???

Geez…Who pissed in everyone’s cheerios?? I’m sure when there actually is news about the film, The Trekmovie folk will have it.. They certainly owe you nothing, nor do they deserve the bullshit platter on display here.

Chill out.

Jeez. What’s with all the TrekWeb spam? TrekMovie doesn’t control what news comes in, and if you don’t like how long they post., there are plenty of other Star Trek fan sites to go to. Off the top of my head, I can think of TrekCore, TrekWeb, and TrekToday. If you think you can do better, start your own Star Trek fan site, or apply to be an article writer.

The only person I agree with here is Devon. It is odd, on reflection, that Trekmovie would not report on the Countdown comic Star Trek Into Darkness coming in January, but reports on TNG coming on blu-ray.

Frankly, of more significance to me at least, is the news about the STID comic series. Everything to do with this new Star Trek movie still in post-production is truly NEW. With TNG, it is really a variation on a theme – been there, done that.

Hey Craiger, instead of complaining, why don’t you reach out and start writing articles.

It’s hard to imagine that people have lives outside of TrekMovie let alone Star Trek, I know.

In other news; did anyone see Nana Visitor (Major Kira from DS9) got asked about hurricane Sandy yesterday on PBS News?

number6,

You are the kind of guy who goes lollygagging through the world oblivious to knowing what the hell is really going on around you.

And actually that is a complement — I wish I could have that lack of a worldview; I’d be a happier person.

#26 MJ: Patronizing much?

13, 14, 15, 16 — agreed! Thanks for the article.

Craiger, I don’t get it — they post stuff and you complain. If the other sites are better, why come here? You’ve even been trying to convince everyone else to leave. Obviously, you like this site and would like more content here, and fair enough — but I wish you weren’t always so darned negative about it.

Nope, sorry Stunkill.

And again, I envy that guy.

@28. All we get is TNG and fluff stuff, while other sites are covering the big new movie star about the new Countdown comics in advance of the sequel. How can Trekmovie not even cover that huge sequel story, but throw in more of the same old blah blah new media release of a 20-year old series stuff.

Yea, I agree with Craiger — where if the F are the articles on the new movie’s countdown comics story???????

???????

???????

Matt Wright,

Dude, I think this is a great article by you, and my comments are not directed at you in the slightest — thanks for this high quality article!

I just wish AP would get off his ass and put in 10% of the time you have put in here to publish the major article on the Trek 2013 Countdown comics that this site should be covering. I mean we finally have some news here on the sequel, and your editor AP is AWOL still….it is very frustrating and odd.

I would love it if you and Kayla would jointly take over this site. Somebody needs to do something soon here, or even the habitual apologizes like Jack are eventually going to get upset.

Perhaps you and Kayla should pay a surprise visit to Anthony’s house to do an emergency “Trek Intervention” to wake the guy out of his malaise? :-))

Thanks for the article Matt!

In before more freak outs over lack of movie update…

Gosh, even Rose is complaining?;). It’s news. And this site has always covered the remastered stuff.

BTW, I just downloaded and read the latest Trek comic (#14). It’s short but sweet.

Oh, and this new universe Scotty is really kind of a dick.

Is the prequel comic story that bloody huge? It was a press release. And was covered everywhere. Maybe these guys are planning another comic round up, with some actual info on the prequel stuff.

Just read the comments there….those people complaining should be ashamed and take a long look at themselves..

THIS IS A BLOODY WEBSITE.

If you can get news in other place, here’s a tip…GO THERE. As someone rightly said, why would anyone want to contribute to this site when all they get is sniping? Ye are a complete disgrace and give Star Trek fans a bad name.

Boo hoo, i have to go to the address bar and type into another website to get news…waaaaa waaaaaa waaaaaa.

I dont blame ay contributors for not wanting to put anything up on this site anymore with the lot of ye commenting.

Hang yer heads in shame. Im disgusted to be associated with a lot of ye.

Hey Remington Steele, READ THE HEADER THAT THIS SITE HAS AT THE TOP OF EVERY PAGE:

“THE source for everything new in Trek”

It doesn’t say its just a blog. It doesn’t say it’s just a fan web site. Again, it boldly proclaims:

“THE source for everything new in Trek”

Can you read, dude?

And by the way, your rant is at a level worse than mine.

#36

Ha ha, are you serious, thats your argument:

“THE source for everything new in star trek”

Ha ha, did they patent it?? My rant is worse yeah? You’re going ape at people who run a website that doesnt cost us anything to read…did you pay a subscription MJ??

I bet you look at the page each day and cry when it doesnt update and decide to vent your spleen at faceless individuals (like myself) on the interweb

Ha ha, pathetic doesnt cover it. To be fair, thanks for putting a smile on my face today.

Ha ha, “THE source…”

Magic.

Hi all – please note this press release OMITS a couple of special features that are included.

I’ve posted the corrected full version at TrekCore here:
http://tng.trekcore.com/bluray/31102012_s2pressrelease.html

@8: The new Diana Muldaur interview IS included! It will form part of the documentaries!

Dude, it I am a prince at ranting, then you are KING in ranting. Just “listen” to yourself:

“Ye are a complete disgrace and give Star Trek fans a bad name”

“Boo hoo, i have to go to the address bar and type into another website to get news…waaaaa waaaaaa waaaaaa.”

“Ha ha, pathetic doesnt cover it.”

You sound like a petulant 10-year old girl who doesn’t like her birthday present.

But your rants have brought a smile to my face as well — so thanks!

No

Yes

Thanks Matt Wright but this site is Tragic.

Regarding JJ & the star wars sale to Disney…

If JJ hadn’t waisted 4 years bewteen films he could have keept the momentum going & had his trilogy out before the first star wars sell out sequel, now he will be trying to reboot trek again after a 4 year void in the shadow of the star wars reboot

i love this site and if you don’t like that there is a slowdown in content then just be bummed about it but don’t hate on people like they have some moral obligation to entertain your every need. spoiled. entitled. there are real issues in the world to save that anger for. as the Shat said, “Get a life”

Guys, what exactly is Anthony missing? Its not like there’s that much news about the new movie at the moment. I’m sure once they start really gearing up for the release, this site’ll be hopping! I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re going easy now because they know there’s a lot coming up.

Jeese.. You people just LOVE to complain. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.. WHERE ARE THE UPDATES???? Get a life, the fine folks who volunteer their time to run this website obviously do.

It sucks they aren’t doing the special features with the pop up trivia, etc. that was on the original series discs. I thought for sure they would have done it for Measure and Q Who.
