Star Trek fans looking for an experience uniquely geared for them need look no further than what’s beaming in to Ticonderoga, New York, from September 4th – 6th. The new convention, Trekonderoga, will be celebrating all things Trek. In attendance will be an array of guests who were part of Star Trek both in front and behind the cameras. In addition to the more traditional celebrity aspect of a convention, they will also be hosting tours of actual sets, conducting make-up workshops, and special episode screenings with creators adding commentary along the way.
New photos and video from Star Trek Beyond have (finally!) made their way to the Internet.
Lydia Wilson has just been announced as the latest addition to the growing call sheet for Star Trek Beyond, currently filming in Vancouver. As usual, no one has any clue as to what her role might be (although there is plenty of speculation abound). I am excited about the addition of another female presence on the screen, but I remain cautiously optimistic after our “strong female role model” Carol Marcus turned into a one-trick pony designed to catch Kirk’s (and the audience’s) romantic interest.
Zachary Quinto, currently filming his role as Spock in Star Trek Beyond recently spoke about how filming the third incarnation of the rebooted franchise has been different without JJ Abrams, currently busy filming Star Wars, directing them on set.
One of the highlights of the Convention was the costume contest held on Saturday, August 8. Every year convention goers share their creativity and enthusiasm with their costume creations. This year Creation invited participants to compete in three categories: ensign (beginner), lieutenant (intermediate), and captain (expert). Contestants had to submit photos of their costumes ahead of time as well as participate in pre-judging. There were six judges that came from a variety of backgrounds such as actors from Star Trek, costuming professionals, and science fields.
In what is proving to be a very sad year for Trek fans, yet another star has passed: Yvonne Craig, who guest starred in the episode Whom Gods Destroy as the green Orion slave girl Marta. While we love her for the spunk and energy she brought to the episode, Craig much more widely known for her role as Batgirl in the Adam West Batman TV series.
There was much to see this past weekend at the Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, but I was excited for one thing in particular taking place in the merchandise hall and on stage Sunday afternoon. Disruptor Beam brought their brand new mobile game, Star Trek Timelines, to the show floor and I got a little hands-on time with it.
While doing a promotional interview with Metro.co.uk for the upcoming comedy Absolutely Anything, Simon Pegg spoke of the challenges he’s facing writing Star Trek Beyond, and the possibility of reducing Scotty’s role in the new film.
In a recent interview with the Huffington Post to promote his upcoming series “Blunt Talk”, Sir Patrick Stewart was asked to name a part that he’s played that would be a good role model for today’s youth.
The final day of the 2015 Las Vegas Star Trek Convention had some great guests on stage, including Sir Patrick Stewart, George Takei, and DS9 and TNG cast panels. All that plus a tribute to the recently departed Grace Lee Whitney, a new look at the upcoming mobile game Star Trek Timelines, great cosplay of the day, and more!
To uproarious applause, the entire cast of Voyager took the stage of the Las Vegas Rio on Saturday to talk to fans, tell jokes, and reminisce on the show’s 20th anniversary.
Today was by far the busiest day of the convention both in terms of guests and stars on the stage. Bill Shatner headlined the day in the way only the Shat can do. Karl Urban, who was supposed to make an appearance today, had a last minute cancellation leaving no one from JJ Trek at this year’s con. Today was also the day to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Star Trek Voyager, with lots of VOY panels.
We’ve wrapped up the second full day of the annual Las Vegas Star Trek Convention here at the Rio Hotel! With so many great things to see today, we could barely contain it all into one article. Learn about how the Smithsonian is restoring the 11-foot TOS Enterprise, be touched by a tribute to Leonard Nimoy, hear from your favorite DS9ers (some in costume!), Walter Koenig, and some of the TNG cast. Plus see today’s best cosplay including Star Trek minions!
And, we’re off! It’s officially Day One of the Official Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas! This year’s con started strong with two big panels: Enterprise (feat. Connor Trineer, Dominic Keating, John Billinglsey, Linda Park, and Anthony Montgomery) and Deep Space Nine (feat. Armin Shimerman, James Darren, and Nicole de Boer — plus a surprise cameo by our favorite “mute”). Plus, get a look around the con floor and see today’s best cosplay.
Propworx will be holding the next installment of their Star Trek Auction series this weekend as part of Creation Entertainment’s Star Trek Las Vegas convention. With interest in Star Trek as keen as ever by both serious collectors as well as first time buyers, and happening in the midst of Creation’s flagship annual event, bidding is expected to be fast and furious this weekend.
