FOR THE LOVE OF SPOCK Coming To Theaters and On Demand September 9

Adam Nimoy’s highly anticipated documentary, For The Love of Spock, officially has a release date. You’ll be able to catch it in select theaters in the US and on demand this September 9th, exactly 50 years + 1 day after the premiere of the first episode of the original series.

The all encompassing documentary about Leonard Nimoy as told by his son, Adam Nimoy, will serve not only as a way to honor the film’s titular character but also as an homage to his dedicated fans.

The film was Kickstarted last June by 9500 backers and raised $662,640.00 which, at the time, broke the record for the most funded Kickstarter documentary.

The trailer dropped in April, and, as you might expect, it’s a real tear jerker.

“I’m very excited about the world wide release of this film which celebrates the life of my father Leonard Nimoy and his most iconic role,” Adam Nimoy said in a press release.

For the Love of Spock was directed by Adam Nimoy with David Zappone as Executive Producer. Zappone, Kevin Layne and Joseph Kornbrodt of 455 Films at Paramount Studios are the producers, having all also produced the Star Trek-themed documentaries The Captains, Get a Life!, and Chaos on the Bridge. The film’s distribution is being handled by Gravitas Ventures, who have just secured worldwide rights.

“It’s no secret that ‘Star Trek’ is internationally beloved and has shown the world both on screen and off what it truly means to be a global community,” said Nolan Gallagher, Founder & CEO of Gravitas Ventures. “We are honored to be collaborating with Adam Nimoy and look forward to bringing this film to audiences everywhere during a monumental year in the Star Trek timeline.”

No word yet on which theaters or which on demand service will offer the film. TrekMovie will bring you that news as soon as we have it.

The day after the 50th anniversary.
You can’t get much better than that.

Sure you can — the day of!

” it’s a real tear jerker.”

not really.

have you seen it?

I’m going to the backers’ screening in Boston on June 27th. Can’t wait!

Me too!

Looking forward to this.

Would be amazing to see Adam don the “rig” as Leonard used to say regarding the make-up process of the ears and eyebrows.
