There certainly are a lot of blue-eyed species in the mid-23rd century.

My thoughts exactly…In regards to all of the blue eyes! Really unnecessary in my opinion as well.

Makes sense, since they’re on the desert planet. Perhaps the ‘new way to fly’ is using spice (from mushrooms) found on that planet :P

The entire production, in regards to the “Federation” side of the story anyway, is fixated on blue for some reason. Please let there be a GOOD reason.

Sarek’s eyebrows look like Leonid Brezhnev’s. Ah well, minor detail….bring on September, I need some fresh Trek in my life!!

Shouldn’t Sarek’s keyhole be an IDIC? He was no fan of Starfleet!

I think the “get shit right” ship sailed quite a while ago. ;)

Pfft. I’m not going to judge the series based on a couple of trailers and a few still shots. Once I watch a few episodes, then I will decide. Much to early to make judgements.

I freely admit to just being a bit of a dick here. :) Hoping for the best, but I can’t deny that my first impressions have not been entirely positive. I am fully willing to be proven otherwise, though!

Meh, no one is perfect ;-)
I just remember years ago, watching the previews for TNG. “A bald captain? And WTF did they do to the Enterprise?!?” were my first thoughts. I thought the series would be a bomb. Thankfully, I was proven wrong and it did get better. I’m really hoping for the same here. I do like that they are trying a few original things rather than the same old formula of “Captain, ship and crew”.

When TNG first started, I didn’t think much of it. It took a good two or three seasons before I actually became a fan of the show. Right now – I cannot stand the idea of Discovery. I don’t like the Uniforms. I don’t like the Klingons. I think the idea of the Enterprise Delta being used for ALL of Starfleet so early in the Starfleet History is ridiculous… I really think CBS is screwing this up – But I’m going to wait on this season to end before I cast judgment. Right now, it’s simply observation and what I’m observing is that I am disappointed.

I think the silhouettes are related to the war between the Klingons and the federation. The Vulcans are not part of the fight, but Sarek does have a stake in the Federation’s success.

Wasn’t there an albino Klingon or Klingon-ish character in DS9 once?

From the episode Blood Oath, I think

That’s the one. Thanks!

Glad I wasn’t the only person who immediately thought “The Albino!”; I wonder, if that is him, might this mean we could be seeing younger versions of Kor, Koloth, and Kang?

Wait… “KKK”? Oh, that ain’t good 😕

It seems the original idea for Star Trek Discovery was, according to Entertainment Weekly:

“Rumors swirled about for many months that Discovery (though at that time still untitled) would be some form of anthology series, bouncing through time and space throughout the Trek universe.”

This sounds like an exciting Star Trek, and sadly, it will now never exist. I always imagined “A Star Trek Historical” as a kind of series that would explain the backstory of different kinds of technology and civilizations. All the fancy marketing, set & costume design and fine acting will not compensate for episodes that do not contain good original stories. The original series had great stories that inspired generations. I don’t expect ground breaking episodes like that but some good stories and morality plays that I can watch more than once is what I am hoping for.

Eyeball photos for marketing do not indicate storytelling talent to me.

You do understand that the marketing folk are completely separate from the episode writers (in practically all cases), right?

Other than listing the names of established writers, when has a poster design ever indicated storytelling talent to you?

The anthology was the idea pitched by Fuller to CBS. They would not commit and understandably so. The expense would be enormous not to mention the logistics of re casting every season. People here complaining about some re designs, an anthology would be a major departure from how Star Trek stories are told.

It could still happen. We dont know. No one has mentioned a second season.

I predict they announce a renewal by the 5th episode.

Sarek’s eyes are blue now?

@Luke — different actor, different eyes.

Actually, neither Green’s, nor Yeoh’s eyes are blue.
So I’m gonna presume it’s just a stylistic choice for that poster.

Everyone’s eyes look blue with enough lens flare :P

Oh, eyes! BOOOOOOOOOOOORING

Sooo… Illuminati participation confirmed? :-P

So that’s were the idea came from! ;)

more like: “Hey, remember those hundreds of movie and TV show character posters where half of the character’s face is obscured? Let’s do the same thing but let’s make sure they don’t think it’s another GoT promo”

Great observation Paul.

So… everyone has blue eyes? But… IDIC ? lol.

There is a Klingon already named K’voq in a novel, and apparently, and in the Klingon language, Voq means to Choke. Hehe.

Based on the pIqaD letters, this Klingon’s name is voq, meaning “trust”. The word for “choke” is voQ, spelled with a capital Q in romanized tlhIngan Hol.

Also revealed are T’Kuvma and L’Rell’s Klingon names: tIquvma and lIr’el

Awesome. Thanks for responding.

Burnham obviously gets reduced in rank which is why they dont include her rank on the poster.

The amount of forehead/eyebrow ridge that covers the Klingon eyes seems like an evolutionary disadvantage. How do you see your enemy coming at you? I guess it would provide some protection from weapons/projectiles, but still… :P

We are Klingon! We do not need to see our enemy coming! Only when he is directly in front of us! :)

(Ahem) Boring!

Due to the tight crop they all look like the same character and there are way too many ..why don’t they release another 20 just for good measure.

Less is more.
