CBS has also released the video promo for “Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad” on Twitter. (same promo shown on All Access after last weekend’s episode on CBS All Access).

Wilson: Mudd is out for revenge

Actor Rainn Wilson has done a few more pre-episode interviews, here are a few things he has said about “Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad.”

TVGuide:

“He’s pretty ticked off and he’s ready to exact his revenge on Lorca. Sh–‘s gonna hit the fan.”

Rotten Tomatoes:

“Yeah, this is a big episode. Harry Mudd visits the Discovery. He, obviously, was not so happy being left behind in a Klingon prison. So I imagine some sparks are gonna fly.”

Episode 7 will be available on CBS All Access on Sunday, October 29 by 8:30 pm ET. It will air in Canada on the Space Channel at 8:00 pm ET and be available on Netflix outside the USA and Canada on Monday, October 30 at 8 am BST.

Hmm. Looks like some kind of bioship, perhaps from Funguspace? Maybe as a reaction to what they did to the tardigrade? Maybe?

I’m a little curious why Michael doesn’t have a badge yet, being that she is officially part of the bridge crew. Probably not enough time and maybe it’ll have its own moment. Just a thought that came into my head.

I just assumed she’ll never hold a rank again. The position may well be in a non-Starfleet role…?

Yes. Lorca can keep her on the ship in an unofficial capacity if he likes, but not in any position of authority. That’s way above his pay grade, or so I would think. And that’s the way things should stay for the foreseeable future IMO.

Maybe at the end of this season she will get her badge back but with provisions. They could say she has earned it due to her work during the war. As for the episode it looks interesting. I am looking forward to finding out how Mudd got out of prison. Plus all of the different timelines could have something interesting to say. Is it just me or does it look like Tyler shoots Lorca in one of them? The person is wearing a Starfleet uniform.

Look again. It’s Mudd’s blue shirt on the arm that shoots Lorca.

Ahh! I thought I saw someone else shoot him. But it wasn’t in this preview. Who knows maybe a lot of people get to shoot him? ;)

A lot of things about this show makes no sense. We can have a delta on our chest while wearing a yellow prison jumpsuit that could easily be fashioned into a stabbing weapon.

But no delta for you while serving as a crew member.

Hee, not to mention my nitpick about Saru’s threat ganglia. They don’t seem to operate consistently.

And would someone please get that poor man some stabilizers for his feet? I can’t imagine how tired Doug Jones must be at the end of the day.

Yeah, Lady Gaga wears shoes like that, but she’s not six feet tall, and she’s tiny.

I have to admire the dedication of the actors who take on alien or augment roles.

No rank, no badge. Besides, I’d bet that Starfleet Department of Corrections has its ways of keeping tabs on where she is….

She had a badge for prison… in her prison jumpsuit.

That “badge” may be nothing more than rubber or a soft plastic. It definitely doesn’t have the same metallic look of the uniform badges.

Time loop or not, hopefully this doesn’t turn into needing to get Burnham laid as part of her journey of redemption. She’s shaping up as a complex character, a relationship isn’t needed to round her out.

I am assuming that the kiss is just one possibility of what might happen. In the “main timeline” it may not. If they do give her a relationship fine. I actually happen to like Sonequa and Shazad’s chemistry. I just hope she isn’t defined by it. I agree with you in the sense that they can find a way to maintain her complexity. Even work it into a relationship.

During first and second season of TNG Wesley had a Combadge that was all one color and not on a gold background.

That creature, didn’t we see that on the “Delta Vega” ice planetoid in Star Trek (2009) chasing Kirk?

No.

yep, I’m thinking it’s the same one that Prime Spock had to save him from

lol. Arent the dudes involved in Kelvin Trek responsible for this trek? It makes a lot of sense now. Nothing makes sense just like that kirk creature chase scene.

What creature bent on consuming prey would pick up a 2000 lb creature chasing kirk, throw it away for a smaller insignifacant Kirk human snack meal.

I never thought about that but you are right. It seems to be a perfect example of the JJ movies sacrificing intelligence for spectacle.

I thought it ate the 200 lb creature and then continued the chase.

I think there’s a re-watch in my future

What I’m concerned about is that they’ll write themselves into a corner and use a lot of BS to get them out. But then, it’s only Kurtzman and Goldsman from KT, not Orci; maybe he was the one who did that?

Similar look, yeah. Hollywood seems stuck riffing on that creature design for some reason.

It has the same kind of mouth! AGGGHHHH!

Well, that creature technically exists in the prime timeline too. Kirk just never encountered it so there’s no reason it can’t be used here. (Always liked the design, personally)

This show is not getting any better.

Yes it is.

Because you can’t improve on perfection? Was hoping to avoid time travel episodes personally. Overdone on Trek so far.

Yeah, perfection – like when the Shenzou captain and mutineer first officer beam over to the Klingon ship together? Just the two of them…no red shirts…uh huh. God I still think about that one, it’s hard to have a brain and get past it…

I respectfully disagree.
