IDW has announced they are launching a second comic book mini-series tied into Star Trek: Discovery in April. Like with the first series, this new one – titled Star Trek: Discovery: Succession – will be written by regular comics writer Mike Johnson and Discovery staff writer Kirsten Beyer. Art is being done by Angel Hernandez.
Here is the official blurb:
In this, the second Discovery miniseries from IDW Publishing, your favorite characters from the hit CBS All Access series dive into an adventure tied directly into the second half of the first season!
IDW editor Sarah Gaydos has confirmed the series will be set in the Mirror Universe.
Each issue of the four-issue series will come with a regular “A” cover, a photo cover, a “ships of the line” cover by Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire, and a variant cover. The A cover for issue #1 will be by Angel Hernandez with the variant cover by George Caltsoudas. The first issue will be 32 pages and be priced at $3.99 and is due in April.
No cover previews for Star Trek: Discovery: Succession #1 are available at this time.
“Succession” follows the currently running Star Trek: Discovery: Light of Kahless series (see our new review of issue 2) and the one-off Annual about Stamets due in March.
Also due in April: Another Byrne photocomic
IDW also announced their 21st entry in John Byrne’s series of TOS-inspired comics.
Star Trek: New Visions: The Enemy of My Enemy • 48 pages • $7.99
Words and photo manipulation by John Byrne
The enemy of my enemy… is not my friend. But Kirk and Kor find themselves forced to work together against a common foe. Alliance, or a chance for deadly betrayal?

Hmmm…well we can speculate then, that Mirror Lorca succeeds in over-throwing Phillipa.
or that they all stay there. Strange announcement
There can easily be a time skip in between upcoming episodes where they can fit more stories
Or a prequel about Captain Killy.
I see Kirk and Kor vs the daleks
I thought the exact, same thing! LOL
EXTERMINAAAAAAAAAATE!
There is a serious lack of Trek comics coming from IDW. There’s so much material that they could be exploring!
IDW is in some serious financial trouble. Their revenues had a huge drop in 2017.
Looking forward — as always — to each one of these installments from John Byrne. He truly understands Star Trek and Star Trek comic book making. (Only way these things could be improved would be to lighten up the too-dark reproduction of the photography in those pages.) For that matter, Byrne’s also been the only person during the past two dozen or so years who truly understood how to do the “Doom Patrol” comics right.
