The hardest working man in show business today might well be Star Trek’s original captain, William Shatner. He is back on tour with his screenings of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and he is a guest star this week on The Big Bang Theory and was in Nashville over the weekend singing at the Grand Ole Opry. We have video from Big Bang Theory and Grand Ole Opry to share with you today.

Shatner on Big Bang Theory this week

William Shatner is the latest Star Trek actor to guest star in the long-running nerdy CBS sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. He is one of a number of big-name guest stars the show has lined up for the final episodes of the series, which is in its 12th season. The episode of The Big Bang Theory featuring William Shatner (and Wil Wheaton) airs this Thursday, February 21st on CBS. Here is the synopsis for “The D & D Vortex”:

When the gang finds out Wil Wheaton hosts a celebrity Dungeons and Dragons game involving William Shatner, Joe Manganiello, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kevin Smith, deception and betrayal are the path to make it to the one open seat.

CBS has also released a video preview and some images:

In other Shatner news, Bill made his debut at the famed Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee over the weekend. Bill was a guest host and sang the title song from his 2018 country music album Why Not Me. Shatner was joined on stage by his Why Not Me collaborator Jeff Cook, of the band Alabama.

ET Canada had a chance to talk to Bill backstage at the event and has some footage of him on stage.

The full performance can also be seen in this video from audience member Steve Schuster.

I would so whish I’m this active when I’m over 80!

see he still looks pretty good now even. imagine how good hed have looked a few years ago in Orci’s ST3

@ nasty man –

Or better still, in J.J.’s initial 2009 TOS reboot, if a different storyline had been conceived to involve him and Leonard at some point in the first place!

The man is an inspiration.

Alex Kurtzman should get him back in Trek ASAP. They talk about all the different formats available. Just get a great story and get it done.

I’m not a fan of, well, fan service, but you’d think there would be a Short Trek out there he could do.

Short Trek would work well or some sort of short series

That would be incredible….. especially if it were a Pike Short Trek!

Nice.

Almost 88 years old… incredible!

Denny Crane !!

Short Treks would allow for all sorts of possibilities, you’d think.

He turns 88 on March 22nd, and he still looks THAT good? God, Bill, you’re amazing.

Wow, I wish I look as good and am as active when I reach his age. People might not like some of his opinions but I don’t care, he is definitely an inspiration.

I cannot believe how invigorating and energetic he is, and how well he looks!

My dad is 88 and is in fantastic shape, but WOW, William Shatner looks fantastic, too. Hard to believe either one of them will be 90 in less than 3 years.
