The first part of the season one finale of Star Trek: Picard gave us our closest look at the secret synth enclave Coppelius. CBS has released a video that goes inside Coppelius and gives more back story. We also have more from the director and Jeri Ryan talking about the episode and Seven of Nine.
Welcome to Coppelius
Star Trek: Picard executive producer Akiva Goldsman (who directed the two-part finale) gives insights into the synth homeworld, the show’s latest bit of technobabble, and Brent Spiner’s latest Soong — Dr. Altan Inigo Soong
Classic prop returns
One other bit of fun from the latest episode; Jorg Hillebrand spotted a prop that has been seen five times in the past in Star Trek. As the series is shot in Southern California, it gives the production access to rental companies that also supplied the past Star Trek series shot on the Paramount lot.
It was only a matter of time until one of those oft re-used consoles (rented from now defunct Modern Props) would make an appearance on Picard, produced in California, like all of previous Trek, unlike Toronto-based Discovery. This console was seen at least 5 times on ST before: pic.twitter.com/FRRk5S6UoP

Thad Riker only died 3 years before the Picard show? That’s really recent. And even if the Fed banned synths, couldn’t Riker and Troi have takne Thad outside the Federation to be cured?
Or maybe the Ba’ku homeworld.
The Federation seems to have been way ahead of any of the other major powers in terms of Synth technology before the ban. Unless they went to the planet Mudd or something, I’m not sure if they could have found a positronic brain outside of the Federation.
Brent Spiner always has that sinister presence, except when he’s all out Data.
I think I want a copy of that map of Ardani for my collection of Star Trek stuff
