Watch: Michael Chabon And Patrick Stewart’s Extended Breakdown Of ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Episode “Nepenthe”

The midseason Star Trek: Picard episode “Nepenthe” is a fan favorite, and featured the return of Sir Patrick Stewart’s TNG co-stars Marina Sirtis (Troi) and Jonathan Frakes (Riker). Now, in a brand-new video, Stewart and season one showrunner/executive producer Michael Chabon break down the episode scene by scene, in a 45-minute video. There is also another CBS Picard Emmy campaign video highlighting the work done by the makeup department.

“Nepenthe” breakdown

The video includes a lot of behind-the-scenes information and footage from the making of Picard and “Nepenthe” in particular.

Inside Romulan Makeup

CBS also released a video today all about how they make those Romulan foreheads for Star Trek: Picard.

Message to CBS: Geoblocking sucks!

Get VPN Express. Problem solved.

Not everyone can use VPN on all devices, on all systems, in all browsers and in every country. Don’t blame users for being too lazy, ignorant or stingy. This problem must be solved at its root and not with lame workarounds!

lol what on earth is michael chabon sitting like that for? It’s oddly distracting. Is that what an Arm Chair Pontificator looks like? I’m only kidding, of course. I do love his work on Picard and appreciate the video.

LOL. Totally true. I was thinking the same thing. Woke up my neighborhood laughing about your post last night.

Did anybody else notice that there was Bajoran make-up in the second video? I wonder if that means we will be seeing Bajorans in the near future.

I guess Bajorans were inside the Cube. An xB.

Fan favourite? A huge chunk of the old fandom now run for the hills at the mere sight of any of the Kurtzman era garbage. And that’s even when established characters are clunkily dropped into the middle of new episodes.

I hated this season, for the most part. I did like this particular episode, though.

Chabon’s facial hair made me think he was trick or treating as Anson Mount in HELL ON WHEELS … either that or a demonic Ronald D. Moore. Or parallel Riker: THE BORG ARE EVERYWHERE!

Off topic – I am sure that I’ve seen Michael Chabon drawn as a character by Dave Berg (The Lighter Side of….) in MAD Magazine.

Watched the entire video. I think Nepenthe was probably the most popular episode of the season easily for most fans. It does prove the power of fandom because nothing really happened (at least on the planet) and yet loved every minute of it. It would be crazy not to bring the Troi’s back next season. And hopefully more than one episode.

Riker now has a successful pizza franchise in a dozen solar systems throughout the Federation! It’s called Number One Pizza! Did I just give CBS a Picard spin off idea??? I think I did!

Bunnicorn sausage pizza! (Hold the venom sac)
