Creation Announces Regional Conventions With Star Trek Celebs For 2021, Headlined By William Shatner

In October when Creation Entertainment canceled 2020 Star Trek Las Vegas Convention they also announced a new “55 Year Mission Tour” Star Trek celebrity-filled convention in Las Vegas for August 2021. That con will be the new Star Trek Las Vegas in all but name. Now they are adding some regional conventions for the “tour” as well.

Sci-Fi Summits 2021

In 2021 Creation Entertainment is bringing back in-person conventions, and celebrating the 55th anniversary of Star Trek with the “The 55-Year Mission Tour.” In addition to the big five-day Las Vegas event in August, there are now three more “Sci-Fi Summit” events in the USA and Canada planned for 2021. All of the Sci-Fi Summit events will be three days long and primarily feature celebrities from the Star Trek franchise, with Star Trek’s William Shatner healding each. There will also be stars from other sci-fi franchises appearing at these events, including The Orville, The Boys, The Mandalorian, Umbrella Academy, and others.

Super glad that Creation has decided to get back into the regional cons again, even if none are booked for near me for now.

All of these look to be fairly large multi-day events though. I’m be happy even to have something in the line of the old one-day regional CreationCons with one or two actors featured and an EP and production type.

Gee, they are optimistic it will be safe to run conventions in mid-2021.

Yeah, I’d not be buying anything that isn’t fully refundable.

Good advice

COVID vaccine is coming soon. The FDA will approve a vaccine next week or so.

Joe Biden as our president will bring leadership back for once. Things might turn around before summer 2021 hopefully.

The Vancouver date seems premature.

The prime minister has said that September is when the majority of Canadians can expect to be vaccinated.

Great Idea. I wish them luck.

July seems a little soon for Vancouver – it’s not clear yet when we’ll get vaccines.

But, it’s nice to have something to look forward to these days. I’ve never been to a convention, so I’ll definitely try this one.

I might see you there Jack. I haven’t been to a convention since the 90s when I was a kid but I’d like to check this out.

Vancouver I wish I lived there. I want to go to Canada right now but the borders are closed.

I live in Minnesota so I can’t go to any of these conventions. Sad!

So two of the cons are the same weekend, with some of the same guests? Sounds busy.

Sooooo overdue! The regional 1-day and 2-day conventions all over the country each year is what made Star Trek fan gatherings flourish so much during previous decades. Even an event where there were just one or two “headliners” plus a handful of additional guests signing in a vendors room were both fun -and- affordable. Those things seemed to be more genuinely fan-friendly, as opposed so the far more focused money-grabs that eventually priced local conventions out of anyone’s economic feasibility (both for the fans … and for the promoters).

In 2021, it would make tons of sense for TV/movie guests to pull down on their “guarantee” fee in order to accommodate all those “regular people” fans who have been without a job or anywhere close to their normal level of income for all these months. Everyone would win through a better return from more volume.
