Nerf ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ Phasers Revealed, Pre-Order Available Now

Toymaker Hasbro is getting back into the Star Trek business with the announcement they are going to make some NERF products tied into the Star Trek: The Next Generation era. These Nerf phasers are the first Hasbro Star Trek product since the KRE-O tie-ins to Star Trek: Into Darkness in 2013.

TNG gets Nerfed

Today the Nerf team at Hasbro revealed an new collaboration with Star Trek for the NERF LMTD collection. There’s a Type 3 Phaser Rifle and Starfleet Type 2 Phaser, as seen in Star Trek: First Contact.

Here is the official description:

These capture the look of the phasers used by Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The Type 3 motorized dart blaster has light-up effects that simulate the look of being assimilated by the Borg in homage to the film, Star Trek: First Contact, light-up phaser effects, phaser sounds, authentic First Contact movie sounds, an internal 5-dart clip, and fires 1 dart at a time.

The Starfleet Type 2 Phaser fires 1 dart and has a pull-back priming handle.

According to Hasbro the Nerf blasters have premium design details honoring Star Trek, and they come in premium packaging “that’s perfect for display.” Each set includes 7 foam Nerf Elite darts.

The phasers are sold together and priced at $119.99. They are available for pre-order starting today at Amazon, Entertainment Earth, and Hasbro Pulse. They are expected to ship next year.

It should fire silly string, not darts

Maybe not the best time to start making toy rifles… Even Star Trek Nerf ones.

The hand phaser felt like a fun idea. The rifle made me cringe

Why? Most Trek fans I know have wanted a phaser rifles forever! This thing looks a little goofy, but it’s

While many adult fans want replicas, nerf is largely marketed to children. I’m not a huge fan of advertising/marketing replica rifles (that appear a bit too real world IMO) to children. It’s partially why I appreciate phaser designs that do not resemble real world weapons.

why ? Fans have been asking for a phaser rifle toy replica for years..there’s other toy rifles on the market now…

Star Trek: The Nerf Generation

The bar for Star Trek merchandise just keeps lowering.

wow what a horrible design…… I have nothing against making star trek nerf products but who thought this weird mish mash looked good?

what… a bargain… of … a …. price

By grabthar’s hammer

Close:
Nerf exec: “By Cash Grabthar’s Hammer, there’s a Trekkie sucker born every minute…we hope.”

Looks cool, but I’m not spending over a hundred bucks on a nerf gun.

Looks ok. I’d repaint it, but there is no way in h**l I’d dver pay $100.00 for a Nerf gun.

Me. Big nerf fan, and this is hella cool and limited edition. I’m in for a set. Cool to see trek getting big companies like Nerf/Hasbro onboard. Would love to see a legit Lego set one day.

agree

Shame they are only sold together. No real interest in the rifle but the Type 2 would have been neat to have.

Same. I just want the hand phaser as well. They should do Nerf version of the SNW phaser as well.

Just hit up the Amazon page. Anybody else notice that the shipping estimate is listed as DECEMBER 1, 2023??? Wow…. Maybe they’ll be cheaper by then.

They all have that shipping date. It’s more than likely a placeholder date. The product isn’t being released until next year, but I don’t believe Hasbro has released a specific date as of yet.

Phaser would be neat, but I’d only pay 20 bucks for that.

So good to have the current owner of the “Power Rangers Universe” returning to the “Star Trek Universe.”

Cute idea, but $120??? I’ll wait til they get slapped with a clearance sticker at Target.

It will be interesting to see if they are at Target. They mentioned on Star Trek Day these are exclusive products, but didn’t say where.

can only order from Hasbro Pulse.. this toy rifle will not be sold @ Target… only available via Hasbro Pulse and resellers like amazon

Was it just me or did the lady from corporate who announced these on Star Trek Day look scared out of her mind?

She was acting. Not sure why they felt the need to make a bit out of that, but virtually the entire day’s festivities went to 11 on the cringe scale for me.

There were a number of moments during the show where it felt to me like the hosts didn’t even want to be there.

Sadly it appeared to work. Many retailers are saying, at least the Playmates stuff, is pre-soldout.

This is embarrassing.

As soon as I saw it, I thought, “Is that rifle being…*assimilated*?”

Guess so.

OMG! So Nerk makes excellent Star Wars replicas Nerf guns, while Star Trek gets Nerf guns that look like something out of the reject bin? I guess Nerf isn’t planning on selling these to Star Trek fans, RIGHT? Because if there is one thing about a Star Trek when buying a prop or toy, they/we want accuracy. Neither of these two guns has it in spades. Who thought turning a phase rifle into a Borg was a good idea? “Resistance is futile.” These two remind me of the inaccurate AMT models of the 70s. Only back then we didn’t know any better. Back then we were happy to have anything that said Star Trek. Hey Nerf! Next time make the TOS rifle. That’s perfect for a Nerf gun, and it would sell like hot cake!
