The second half of the first season of Star Trek: Prodigy is currently streaming on Paramount+ but the first half is being packaged together for a new home video release coming in January.

Prodigy season 1, volume 1

The first season of Star Trek: Prodigy has a total of 20 episodes, with the first ten streaming from last October to early February of this year. Today Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment officially announced the release of the first ten episodes as “Volume 1” of the first season for release on Blu-ray and DVD, arriving on January 3, 2023.

The 3D animated series aimed at younger audiences has drawn high praise here at TrekMovie and among many fans and in the entertainment media for its high production values and smart stories that respect Star Trek lore. The show begins in the Delta Quadrant with a group of alien kids who find an abandoned Starfleet ship (the experimental USS Protostar) and set off on adventures, with a little help from the onboard Janeway Emergency Training Hologram, voiced by Star Trek: Voyager’s Kate Mulgrew.

From episode 6: Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Brett Gray as Dal, Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Kate Mulgrew as Janeway, and Angus Imrie as Zero

The Blu-ray and DVD set includes never-before-seen bonus content along with exclusive cards featuring key art from the series.

You can pre-order Prodigy season 1, volume 1 now, discounted at Amazon to $22.99 for Blu-ray and 14.99 for DVD.

Any indication when it will be available for purchase via digital download? (ITunes etc)

You can already buy the episodes digitally on most platforms like Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, etc.

In saying “first ten episodes”, I presume they mean the first half of the season, and are counting “Lost and Found” as two episodes. Does that mean they’ll actually have the two-parter version, with the premiere split into two regular-length (23-minutes-ish) episodes, or will it be the way it was initially presented on Paramount+ in the US, as a single double-length episode?

I’m guessing it’ll be just one or the other (i.e., that it won’t have the option to watch it either way)…

I’m getting this.

I was on the fence about buying half a season but the exclusive cards closed the deal.

I’m on the fence too because I hate the idea of buying half of S1. But, I may do it anyways because its trek.

definitevely getting this!!
