Paramount+ seems to do this with all its Star Trek shows.

The fact that they keep doing it suggests that they have evidence it is successful in getting people to sign up.

I can’t imagine it wouldn’t and i’m frankly surprised that more streaming services don’t do this.

I’ve long had this idea that if I owned a streaming service, i’d make the first episode of every show available to stream right out of the gate as soon as you download the app, without a subscription.

But others do though. All of Apple TV shows first episodes are free to run and a lot of HBOMax and Showtime shows as well. Prime and Netflix doesn’t do it but to be fair, they are the only sites that gives you an entire free month when you sign up. But most sites do try to give you a way to sample stuff for free in the beginning by offering the first week free, so it’s how you see it I guess.

Disney+ seems to be the only real outlier because they don’t offer a free week anymore nor any free episodes.

Never had Apple TV. That’s a cool feature, and just proves what a freakin’ genius I am!

Yeah they been doing this literally since the first episode of season 2 of Discovery. It obviously works or they wouldn’t keep doing it with every show.

I believe they did it with the premiere of Season 1 as well, way back when.

For Free in the US… But the International Fans need to pay. Sad

It depends on the country.

In Canada CTV Sci-fi channel usually offers the first episode free as an ‘ On Demand’ promotion

Other than the poor lighting and really substandard cgi, this was really fantastic. Why weren’t the first two seasons more like this.

Would love to be seeing this in 4K in Canada. Crave just has it in quasi-1080p… quasi because it can blur out depending on how well the streaming is working on any given night.

I just can’t bring myself to watch this horror show… how will Trek ever recover from the Kurtzman Era??? The damage these people have done seems permanent.
