San Diego Comic-Con kicks off in two weeks on Wednesday, July 24, and Star Trek will be there. We now have details on what Paramount+ is planning.
Star Trek Hall H panel
Today Paramount+ announced plans for SDCC for several of their properties with Star Trek taking a prominent position. Once again there will be a big Star Trek Universe panel set for Hall H (the biggest venue at SDCC). Paramount+ is bringing cast and creatives for 4 different Star Trek TV productions. They are also promising “reveals and surprises you won’t want to miss!” The panel is set for for Saturday, July 27, running 90 minutes from 1:45 pm to 3:15 pm, moderated by Justin Simien.
Here is the planned lineup:
- Strange New Worlds – cast members scheduled to appear include Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck, alongside executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers. Season 3 production has been completed and is set for 2025 release, with season 4 already ordered.
- Lower Decks – will feature voice cast members Jack Quaid, Tawny Newsome, Noël Wells and Jerry O’Connell, along with creator and executive producer Mike McMahan and executive producer Alex Kurtzman. The fifth and final season is set to arrive later this year.
- Starfleet Academy – will feature executive producers and co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau. The first season is set to go into production later this summer.
- Section 31 – cast members Omari Hardwick, Sam Richardson and Kacey Rohl, along with executive producer Alex Kurtzman and director Olatunde Osunsanmi. Production on the streaming movie starring Michelle Yeoh was completed earlier this year.

Glad we’ll be getting more info about these. I’m especially looking forward to the unreleased to Starfleet Academy and Section 31, just so we can get a better idea of what to expect from those. But both Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds should be fun panels as well.
I mean, they could probably show a first trailer or a scene from Section 31 if they want to.
I’m hoping that’s one of the surprises they have in store.
Same here. For some reason I was thinking it might be too early to have one, but that’s only true for Starfleet Academy. I’d forgotten that it already filmed.
Hoping against hope that they’ll announce they’re reversing Lower Decks’ cancelation.
Why would they do that?
Like I said…hoping against hope
Don’t get your hopes up.
It would be nice at the very least they continued it in movies or specials. I don’t think this is truly the end of the show and McMahan has said it may not be completely over.
It may just be wish fulfilment on his part as well but as we have been seeing the last few years now, none of these characters ever completely goes away either.
I think you’re right, Tiger2. I have a good feeling that we’ll get more Lower Decks eventually. Likely to a limited degree, but hey, so long as they get to do the spoof poster for my favorite Star Trek movie, I’ll take it…
I still think there is a huge possibility of getting LD characters back as at least cameos in live action. I bet they can’t resist lol
Great news. Just happy they are still even doing it given everything.
I suspect we will get LDS season 5 trailer (haven’t most of the trailers been launched there?) and maybe even a S 31 trailer. If not maybe a peak of a scene or something. Hopefully they will announce the date for it and it will be this year, but not holding my breath either.
