Far Beyond the Stars is among the best Trek, ever. Voyager’s Captain Proton segments were silly, but entertaining. If SNW is telling a murder mystery, and it also advances a narrative, it’s all good.

Because I’m that guy….soooo, Spock and Korby hit it off, and Chapel is jealous?

That would be fun, Chapel being jealous of Spock and Korby. In terms of the other stuff… I think the problem I had with “The Elysian Kingdom” is that it had no effect on the characters except for M’Benga’s secret storyline (hiding his daughter) that he barely discussed with anyone ever. And then they had no memories of what they’d done (except M’Benga and Hemmer, and then Hemmer died), so it felt like a very random diversion with fun costumes but no resonance.

Thank you for another great podcast. I, for one, don’t mind when business stuff is discussed, since it has potential existential impact on the future of Trek.

I joke about it, but we absolutely should and will continue to keep covering it! Always!

If this comedy is early in development, why not someplace else then Risa? How about that unnamed planet from the TOS episode Shore Leave? That in the entire Trek galaxy there’s only one resort world is a bit like suggesting that Vegas is the only resort destination on Earth…..BTW, what happened to Vegas in the 24th century?

Another great pod guys. And it was wonderful to hear you share the love with the Inglourious Treksperts. When I saw what they were cooking up, it made me wish I wasn’t gonna be out of the country, because I would’ve went to Vegas.

Lauri, I’m glad you’re gonna get your dream of interviewing the songwriters for Subspace Rhapsody. As a musician, I have to say it was not my favorite episode. Not even close, really. But I’m happy for you.

I think the gold standard for musical episodes is still the one that started at all, Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Once More with Feeling. One of the things that made that so good which they did different genres of music to suit the characters. Everything on SNW seemed, how shall I say, relentlessly midtempo. I would love it , if you could draw them out about their creative process when it came to arranging the songs. Thanks!

I wasn’t a Buffy fan so I missed that one. My daughter watches Grey’s Anatomy and theirs was awful. I loved the Flash/Supergirl crossover musical a LOT though… same director as SNW. If you want to send very specific questions, do it here and we will include what we can!
