In May, Pop Culture Coffee launched a collection of limited-edition Star Trek-branded coffees, starting off with two blends. The line has now been expanded, including a new blend for the captain most associated with coffee. Today, Pop Culture Coffee added “Coffee, Black!” and “Borg Blend” to their “flavorful array of carefully curated coffee blends” inspired by Star Trek characters, cultures, and starships.
There’s more coffee in that nebula
Like the first wave, the new Star Trek coffees blends are made from 100% organic Arabica beans and are small-batch craft roasted. Star Trek: Voyager’s Captain Janeway was known for her love of the caffeinated brew and “Coffee, Black!” is is a dark roast designed for her style, described as a “no-nonsense brew that fuels your day with the same strength and determination she brings to the Delta Quadrant. Pure, unflavored, and unapologetically strong, it’s the coffee of choice for explorers who need to stay sharp on their journey.” You can buy a 12-oz bag (whole bean or ground) now at popculturecoffee.com for $16.99.
Also out today is “Borg Blend,” inspired by the Borg Collective introduced in Star Trek: The Next Generation. This new coffee is a toffee crunch that “fuses the creamy sweetness of caramelized toffee with a bold, intergalactic coffee experience.” You can assimilate a 12-oz bag (whole bean or ground) now at popculturecoffee.com for $16.99.
Since the launch in May, Star Trek Coffees has also added Raktajino, a Klingon-inspired blend “infused with butterscotch to compliment the rich, robust, dark roast embodying the Klingons’ fierce, bold nature and warrior spirit” and Federation Roast, described as the “go-to choice for those seeking a light, macadamia-nut flavored roast for a balanced cup of coffee.”
New Mugs
Pop Culture Coffees has also revealed a series of five coffee mugs, each uniquely designed for the different Star Trek blends. The “extremely limited edition” handspun, hand-glazed artisanal-style mugs are priced at $42.99 each. You can also buy gift sets of mugs paired with their coffee blend for $55.99. The mugs and gift sets will be released in mid-December, just in time for Christmas. You can pre-order them now at popculturecoffee.com.
There is more to come from Star Trek Coffees. In October they will be releasing cold brews for both Raktajino and Federation Roast.

These mugs would be so lovely if they didn’t have that giant goofy “pop culture” logo on them. :-/
I said the same thing. Kinda throws it off.
Agreed! Basically paying to advertise for them.
I agree 100%, that Pop Culture logo ruins the aesthetic.
I would 100% buy one or two of those mugs for myself and also for my dad (who loves Star Trek but not coffee) but for that prominent logo. Make it a Star Trek mug, not your company branded mug, thanks.
I might have to try the Janeway and the Raktajino. The other two, no thanks.
This is such a ridiculous marketing ploy.
I bought 4.
lol
Resistance is futile, although I’m not having any trouble resisting the Borg flavor.
there’s coffee in that merchandising…
Anybody else think of AXANAR COFFEE when they saw this story?
Talk about ANOTHER guy seriously overdue for a major legal decision/action against him …
Ok. We’re starting to get into territory where Star Trek is just trying to make money off the brand name and not provide us with anything of substance. The only thing that makes this coffee anything associated with Star Trek is the packaging.
This is why I even struggle to purchase Star Trek Wines, minus Chateau Picard. However, even with Chateau Picard, I still pay a premium for the Star Trek brand.
At least with the alcohols you could keep a nice screen accurate bottle afterwards. That’s really quite special when it comes to the Chateau Picard, kanar and Romulan Ale. I assume Saurian Brandy is coming.
Trek merch has been garbage for years now. You get mostly mediocre products that are vastly overcharged. This is sadly nothing new.
Okay, has anyone actually tried these?
Federation Roast – 100% Bland…..
Sweet jesus, ten bucks for shipping??
Must be getting expressed in from omicron ceti…
John Eaves actually did joke ad-art of Cochrane’s ‘sweet jesus’ expression in FC as an ad for a new ale. I looked for it online but didn’t find it, though the ale-free gif is still up. (the ad is in the SKETCHBOOK for GEN/FC, for those determined few who still read analog.)
“Federation Roast” sounds like the 23rd century of those Dean Martin specials where he would have Don Rickles and Foster Brooks and other celebs ‘roast’ some person of honor. I suppose a Federation Roast of Spock could have McCoy as toastmaster.
The mugs look truly awful. Any of these products would be so much better if they just left the “Star Trek” and licensee branding off the main faces of the product. Like, just put them underneath! Otherwise, what am I having the product for, it becomes all about “pop culture” brand and not the emblems or other IP slapped on it.
Nothing says, “Today; is a good day to die” quite like a butterscotch candy.
Right? The assignment should have been to make the flavor even more bitter and robust somehow. With notes of prunes.
