The Gates McFadden: InvestiGates Who Do You Think You Are? podcast is returning for a third season in November. TrekMovie has exclusive details, including what Star Trek guests will be joining Star Trek: The Next Generation vet Gates McFadden on the mic.
InvestiGates is back for season 3
Gates McFadden launched her podcasting career in 2021 and on InvestiGates the TNG star (and Picard guest star) engages in candid, intimate discussions, usually with well-known Star Trek stars. The upcoming third season features one-on-one conversations with Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, David Ajala, and Doug Jones, Strange New Worlds stars Ethan Peck and Jess Bush, Picard stars Michelle Hurd and Todd Stashwick, and Enterprise star Connor Trinneer. According to Nacelle Company, who produce the pod, the third season will feature in-depth conversations with each star “about their life, careers, inspirations and dreams.”
“Intelligence, imagination, empathy, love of science, pretty darn funny, and a belief that the future may be better than we thought. Those are the qualities of my podcast guests this season. Lucky me!” said Gates McFadden in a statement shared with TrekMovie.

The first two seasons of InvstiGates feature 25 episodes of conversations with many famous Star Trek stars, including William Shatner, LeVar Burton, Kate Mulgrew, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Wil Wheaton, Tawny Newsome, Denise Crosby, Jack Quaid, John De Lanice, Nana Visitor, Michael Dorn, Anson Mount and more. Past episodes have taken deep dives with these Star Trek stars, getting into untold stories of their upbringings and family and more. Of course, they also explore the intertwined experiences shared by all Star Trek actors.
InvstiGates is produced by Brian Volk-Weiss, Gates McFadden and Bryan W. Adams for Nacelle’s podcast network, NacelleCast Studios. Gates McFadden began working with Volk-Weiss’ Nacelle Company after she was brought on to be an executive producer and narrator of their 2021 documentary series The Center Seat, about the history of Star Trek.
“The bar was set high in the two prior seasons, but season three is by far the best of the bunch and we’re excited to get these new episodes out to the world,” said Brian Volk-Weiss.
The first batch of four new episodes for season 3 of InvestiGates premieres November 12th. The second batch of four episodes will premiere on December 3rd. All eight episodes will be available wherever you get your podcasts including Apple and Spotify, where the show boasts a 4.9 rating on both.

I was wondering, having never listened to her podcast, what are some of her best epusodes?
I enjoyed them all, but the most engaging ones for me were probably John Billingsley, Terry Matalas, Tawny Newsome, Kate Mulgrew, Rosalind Chao, William Shatner, Marina Sirtis, and Michael Dorn. The one with Nana Visitor is extraordinary but you have to be able to handle it as Nana describes a horrific assault. Wil Wheaton also great, Jonathan Frakes also great, Brent Spiner… Gates just has really great conversations with everyone.
