[Lower Decks reviews start at 34:05]
Anthony and Laurie have a lot of news to cover this week! They talk about Strange New Worlds, drop a few tidbits about Starfleet Academy, and round up the latest intel on Section 31. They discuss Jeri Ryan’s description of a Captain Seven show she turned down and LeVar Burton’s thoughts on a legacy show, the Prodigy season 2 release on physical media, and the latest on the greenlit Star Trek movie and the one waiting in the wings. They also have updates on season 3 of Gates McFadden’s podcast, share the sad news that Tony Todd has died, and talk about the regional Creation cons happening around the country.
With all that done, they review the latest episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks, “Starbase 80?!,” covering the Enterprise tribute, A+ guest stars, and more. They wrap up the podcast with some tales from their separate event screenings of To The Journey, the documentary about Star Trek: Voyager.

Oooh, Laurie, I can’t help but be intrigued by your comment about Karl Urban and the ‘weird vibe that he USED to hang out with them’. Internal cast drama, or am I reading too much into that statement?
I don’t really have any inside info, but I’m basing it on the interview Jonathan Frakes did with Katee Sackoff, where they talked about how she hung out with the TNG crowd when she was dating Karl and he said something like “You were the best part of hanging out with Karl” or something like that. That’s all I’ve got.
Ah, interesting! I need to check out that episode. I truly had no idea they ever dated! BTW unrelated, but I got your Gilmore Girls book for my partner and she greatly enjoys it!
Omg! That’s so nice! I’m thrilled she likes it and thank you for buying it.
You bet! I’m glad you mentioned it in an All Access episode, otherwise I’d have never known! I’m the Trekkie and she’s the GG diehard, but over the years we each now have a foot in the other’s fandom, so it was fun finding a GG-related birthday present for her in one of my Trek podcasts! :-D
You have no idea how happy this makes me. Also, there are a fair amount of writers who’ve done Gilmore Girls AND a Star Trek or two. (And actors galore, of course.)
I would watch a show about Jeri Ryan making pottery.
Ha! I bet you’re not the only one.
Don’t forget that Rachel Garrett is born around 2300, so the movie cannot take place in the 23rd century!
I seem to recall Mike saying that they got a guest star that was hard to lock down. Involved him writing personal letters etc. That doesn´t sound like Connor Trinneer. I´m both hoping and not hoping for Jolene Blalock. I´d love it but I also really want her to in live action in SNW.
