Preview The Penultimate ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Episode With New Images From “Fissure Quest”

This week is the beginning of the end for the fifth (and sadly final) season of Star Trek: Lower Decks. We have a couple of intriguing (spoilery) preview images and more details on the ninth episode of the season to get you started.

“Fissure Quest”

The ninth episode of season 5 is titled “Fissure Quest.” In his recent TrekMovie interview, supervising producer Barry J. Kelly said that the final two episodes of the season (and series) “go hand in hand.” Episode 9 was written by Lauren McGuire and directed by Brandon Williams. It arrives on Paramount+ on Thursday, December 12.

Synopsis:

Fissures must be closed before they get inflamed.

Harry Kim(s)!

One of the preview images released today reveals the episode includes the return of a legacy character… technically characters. While the official caption from Paramount doesn’t reveal anything, we can see this episode features the return of Star Trek: Voyager’s Garrett Wang reprising his role as Harry Kim (actually Harry Kims), first shown in the NYCC trailer released in October.

Mariner?

The second image released today features Tawny Newsome as Mariner, however she is wearing an operations/engineering uniform. She appears to be on an unidentified Starfleet ship.

(Alt?) Mariner’s definitely in a Defiant-class engineering room…note the master systems display.

That ship on the status screen behind Mariner looks a lot like a Defiant-class starship outline

No doubt Mariner will be the star and solve everything as usual, whilst Boimler’s storyline will be about how high he can jump.

As usual you have nothing new or interesting to say.

relax, the man has an opinion, he’s allowed to say it.

Except when somebody repeats themselves ad nauseum and sticks to the same “talking points” (and I use that term very loosely here), never has anything constructive to say and is clearly using multiple accounts to complain about the same thing, it crosses over into trolling. And that should be called out.

Harry, is that you?

I’m positive “Harry” has multiple accounts on this site.

I’ve noticed that trend this season. The quality has dipped. Lower Decks is a show that usually has 8 or 9 hits out of 10. This season is more misses. Perhaps it’s time for it to end.

Boimler did NOTHING in the last 3 or 4 episodes of season 4. Unfortunately that trend continues this season. Is it so hard to have him the hero one episode instead of Mariner?

Welp Harry you just proved that you have not actually watched the show. Saying Boimler “did nothing” is so utterly wrong, even watching just the first 5 minutes of one episode disproves that.

But lets get specific, in the final episode of season 4 Boimler was acting Captain of the Cerritos, and he was in command to throw a derelict Orion battleship at Locarno’s Trinar shield. Very much not nothing.

So yeah, you are literally just trolling and you didn’t even bother to get enough information so your trolling was accurate or effective, and you just come off as dumb.

I’d call this season better than S4

This season has been a lot more about Tendi than either Mariner or Boimler, I feel like you’re making this chip on your shoulder about how you think the show is cloud you from engaging with what’s actually on screen.

Hmm a defiant class… Wonder if we are going to see the return of William Boimler? Are section 31 causing the fissures??

Wow that would be an amazing twist and that it’s Section 31 the cause of it. And it would suck if the show ends without some conclusion for Boimler’s clone.

Great call about William!

Ya’ll in here goin on about the Defiant class on the panel behind Alt Mariner and that’s a good spot sure nuf. But ye’ve missed entirely asking. Whose bleedin leg is that in front of her then?

(Note in case it doesn’t come across in text. This is intended to be in the style and accent of Sean Ferrik at trekculture on youtube, cause he’s asking the same question)

HARRY!!!!!

Oh man, so great to see Kim back. This puts a big smile on my face.

Sad it’s the second to last episode but hopefully it will be a lot of fun.

Thos sounds awesome! Can’t wait. 😎🖖
