[Lower Decks review starts at 12:11]
Anthony and Laurie are joined by the Shuttle Pod‘s Matt Wright this week. They kick off with the latest news including a wrestler added to the cast of Starfleet Academy, more details about the Section 31 movie, and the addition of The Wrath of Khan to the National Film Registry.
The trio then digs into their review of the Lower Decks series finale, “The New Next Generation,” and say a sad farewell to the show. Everyone loved the finale , had very few nits to pick, and celebrated all the great moments that tied together the final season and the series as a whole.
They wrap up with a look at TNG’s Tamarian language, the history of the Klingon Bird of Prey, and a special about Christmas movies featuring Star Trek celebs.

Is there a way to *read* a transcript of the podcasts? No time to listen and I read much faster…
Well you could always listen on quadruple speed if you could handle a sounding like chipmunks. We will look into transcripts, but if we did that the most likely solution would be using an AI tool and it would not be 100% accurate. There’s no way we would be able to do a full accurate complete transcript by hand every week. We use an AI transcription service that has learned our voices to help us with interviews, but we always have to do a good amount of tweaking before we put those out.
Thanks.
Big interview with Newsome on Variety’s site. In print not audio.
Hi Laurie and Tony. Thanks yet again for taking us through a season of LDS accompanied by Tony’s excellent written reviews and deep dives. I thought that the finale was a TRIUMPH and personally, the best episode in the shows entire 5 season run. Kudos to cast and crew for doing such an excellent job. My favourite LOL moment was when the doctor stated that “Klingon’s hardly ever change the design of their ships, they always want them to look like big stupid birds”. BRILLIANT!
Hope that they will be back for a streaming movie or additional season in the not too distant future.
Slightly off topic, but what’s happened to the Shuttle Pod? I used to love their podcast’s.
I would love it if you could possibly swing an interview with Andy Robinson and Sid at the same time, to talk about their appearance in episode 9 and about the meaning of their respective characters to each other, and why so many people wanted to see them together is some way. I thought their relationship was brilliantly handled in Fissure Quest.
I love that idea! Not sure if we can pull it off, but we can try.
