The GLAAD Media Awards ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on March 27, 2025, promising to deliver a “sparkly mix of red carpet arrivals, iconic main stage moments, and an impactful message that demonstrates the value of representation and inclusion of LGBTQ people within all forms of media.”
I’m on the fence as to whether I miss Discovery or not, but I definitely miss Culber. I hope he shows up on Starfleet Academy.
He was a decent character. Very likable.
Even when I disliked the series — which was for its first three seasons! — I was invested in Culber. Never did warm up to Stammets much, but Culber I liked immediately.
On balance, I suppose someone has to like it.
Plenty of people liked it. It wouldn’t have gotten five series if it hadn’t. Getting that many in the streaming era is very impressive.
And yet, Enterprise got 4 seasons, with far more episodes.. and was cancelled.
Your logic fails there.
I like Discovery a lot. Just saw the first episode of the season 5.
I like the serialized stories, the production and the action.
I’m just not totally enamored with the cast of characters and I guess that won’t change.
I’ve seen Picard seasons 1 and 2 and, with some quibbles I really enjoyed both of them (I guess a lot of folks didn’t, especially season 2). I thought the cast of characters there was great.
To me it’s still TOS, TNG, and DS9 as the top of the pyramid. I think I even like Voyager more than Discovery because of Janeway, Seven, the Doctor, Tuvok, Paris, and B’lanna (Chakotay, Kim, Kes, and the irritating Neelix I don’t care for at all).
Haven’t seen enough of ENT to judge and haven’t seen Strange New Worlds yet.
Show often did not do justice to its diverse characters, but I appreciated the strives to ensure that representation.
I appreciate a lot about it. Discovery was a breath of fresh air after the successive iterations of TNG with VOY and ENT. It took risks. A lot of it I liked, but I never ever ended up loving the characters like I did for TOS, TNG, DS9, and half of VOY. I just do not like Michael Burnham as Captain, I find Tilly kind of irritating, Book is ok, Saru is interesting, Culber and Stamets were just ok, and I didn’t care at all for Alora.
Congratulations. This show is far my favorite but I always thought its diversity was a strong positive. I don’t think I seen any of those other shows its up against, but I hope it wins.
As I recall you didn’t like Discovery. Presumably…”this show is far FROM my favourite”.
I always loved the representation level on ST: Discovery. They absolutely deserve this nomination.
