In April Universal Studios Hollywood hosts its first “Universal Fan Fest Nights,” a month-long after-hours fandom event featuring several brand-new branded experiences including the just revealed “Star Trek: Red Alert.” TrekMovie has the first details on the Trek experience and more.
“Red Alert” at Universal Hollywood
Universal has described their new Fan Fest Nights as a mashup of their popular “Halloween Horror Nights” with Comic-Con, promising to “take fandom to a whole new level.” The first event kicks off on Friday, April 15 and continues with select nights through Sunday, May 18, 2025. The first Fan Fest Nights features new “uniquely curated experiences” from Star Trek as well as Back to the Future, Dungeons & Dragons, One Piece, and Jujutsu Kaisen. Tickets went on sale this morning.
Here is the official description of the Star Trek experience:
Star Trek: Red Alert—Inspired by the Star Trek universe that has entertained millions of fans, this daring walk-through experience will boldly take guests on an immersive adventure aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D on a mission to prevent an interstellar threat. Guests will find themselves transported to the year 2403, just as an otherworldly entity wreaks havoc on the ship. As the chaos ensues, guests will venture further into the Enterprise, navigating familiar Star Trek environments, from the ship’s engineering room to transporter pads, to the soul of the Starship Enterprise, the bridge—an original set piece featured in the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard—in a desperate quest to stop the perceived danger and restore peace aboard the ship. Laden with special effects, audio-visual effects, multi-sensory activations and themed performers, this all-original experience will create an unforgettable, awe-inspiring moment that will elevate Star Trek fandom to new levels.

The actual bridge set piece from the U.S.S. Enterprise-D from season 3 of Star Trek: Picard will be a major component of the experience (Universal)
According to Universal, Fan Fest Nights guests “can tap into their inner fandom to join forces with their favorite characters while sharing their enthusiasm with like-minded fans as they engage in cosplay with such renowned favorites as Star Trek.” This includes interactive activations throughout the theme park, including live entertainment, cosplay and photo opportunities. Together it’s all being touted as an “energetic block party,” built for fans.
The other themed experiences include “Back to the Future: Destination Hill Valley,” which brings guests to the actual backlot set where the film was shot to “travel back to 1955 Hill Valley” with a visit to Courthouse Square, including a recreation of the famed Clock Tower lightning strike. The “Dungeons & Dragons: Secrets of Waterdeep” allows guests to have an adventure exploring the lair of the legendary beholder Xanathar, populated with animatronic monsters built by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Fans of anime will be able to enjoy the “One Piece: Grand Pirate Gathering” and “Jujutsu Kaisen: Hunger of the Cursed” experiences.
There are also special enhancements being made for the park’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Super Nintendo World. Guests will be able to experience select theme park attractions open during the event, including “Mario Kart™: Bowser’s Challenge,” “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™,” “Flight of the Hippogriff™,” “Jurassic World—The Ride,” “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem,” “Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride” and “The Simpsons Ride™”.
Tickets are on sale now with a variety of ticket offerings available. Click here to purchase tickets.
Eat like a Trekkie
Themed food and beverages accompany each of the themed experiences, created just for the event by Universal Studios Hollywood Executive Chef Julia Thrash. TrekMovie was invited to an early preview for Fan Fest and was able to sample “Vulcan Fritters” (falafel) and “Klingon Targ Legs” (pork).
For desert, you can try the “Tribble Truffle Trio” (coconut balls).
And to drink, they also have developed three Trek cocktails: Romulan Ale (with vodka), Andorian Ale (with gin), and Ceti Eel Margaritas (non-alcoholic, with little eel gummies).
We also got a first look at some the new merchandise that will be available for each fandom exclusively at Fan Fest.
More to come
We will post updates with more details on “Star Trek: Red Alert” and Universal Fan Fest ahead of the event as well as a detailed review of the experience in April.

I live in Indiana and am seriously considering hauling myself all the way out there for this. A TNG bridge experience would be a fever dream come true. I’m so bummed I wasn’t old enough for the Vegas attraction.
I am so glad I got to go in 1998. It was an amazing experience. This Universal one sounds very similar to it. You should go!
Im right with you on that Indy to Cali!
Looks pretty awesome, but it’s kind of across the country, bummer.
Fortunately for me it’s 30 minutes away. And I was just at Universal studios last weekend with a friend. I don’t go there very often but will definitely try and do this.
It’s too bad they couldn’t do it as a traveling museum and take it to other parts of the country.
That bridge. Iconic.
Those fritters better be vegetarian, haha.
Exactly.
We shall see how it will compare to the ST:TE in Las Vegas at the Hilton. Universal Studios in CA, used to have a semi- imersive Star Trek show about 30 years ago but it closed down.
So you can tour Kirk’s Enterprise (no bloody A, B, etc.) in upstate New York.
You can now tour the D in Hollywood.
It’s about time we got one of these immersive set experiences in the middle of the U.S. How about a full-scale Defiant or the DS9 Promenade?
its a shame it’s only tempoary
I was second guessing trying to attend since i live in New England, but this sounds too awesome to miss. Now just have to find a travel buddy…
I’ll go! I’m in the NYC Area!
This sounds like an INCREDIBLE adventure! Too far away from me to get there but man, I would TOTALLY geek out being there!
Hoping the Romulan Ale is vintage 2283 — I only use if for medical purposes.
Being on board the Enterprise-D is one of my biggest dreams ever!
If this doesn’t prove that Star Trek is best in the 24th/25th Century and big studios like Universal want this era Trek in their park, I don’t know what will! So much for the Discoverse (be it, Discovery or even Strange New Worlds).
THIS is the Star Trek that sells. Well done, Universal Hollywood! I will be there.
Definitely doing this! Being on the Enterprise D is a childhood dream come true.
I can imagine this will be very popular to do. TNG is still super popular all these decades later. I still miss it very much.
The description sounds a bit like the Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas. Except they also had the DS9 Promenade.
And the “History of the Future”… And “Borg 4D”… And the massive ship models… And an amazing cast of cosplayers… And it was in the Hilton! I understand why it came to an end (nothing lasts forever), but ST: The Experience is (in my opinion) still the best theme park/experience I ever had the pleasure of visiting. And I’ve been to Disney and Universal….
