Brian Volk-Weiss from the Nacelle Company joins Tony and Laurie this week to talk about the new, deep cut Star Trek action figures his company has up for pre-order, as well their other Trek-related projects like Gates McFadden’s podcast and documentaries. He also gives us a preview of what’s next for the toy line and hints at some upcoming Star Trek docs too. Before the interview portion of the pod, Brian joins the talk about the latest news, including Strange New Worlds going back into production, an actor update from Starfleet Academy, high Nielsen ratings for Section 31, and the surprise announcement about the Star Trek: Khan audio drama. We also talk about the possible return of William Shatner to the Star Trek franchise. The pod wraps up with Brian taking a shortened version of our Star Trek Questionnaire.

I really hope they can fill the gaps left by Diamond Select’s loss of interest and abandonment of the Trek license because so far these figures look AMAZINGLY detailed.
Does their license covers anything more than figures? Maybe they can be the heroes who fill the void left when Diamond Select full stopped Star Trek products and expand a little past just figures.
Wow I don’t care about these figures at all, but that was fun. A really insightful interview about fandom and business.
OK, and Kirk? What about on Trondy Newman’s pleasure planet… comedy seems like a good place for “Kirk revived.”
I was thinking it might be Tawny’s show, which might really appeal to him. But who knows?
I do not collect toys, but the Weyoun one looks great.
Ah, my Emmy comment got in! Thanks.
Did I completely miss where the ST V poster (Mad Magazine answer from back then: “To keep people from leaving the theater!”) was mentioned? Can someone point me to it?
Found it!
James Doohan was missing one finger. But in closeups in TOS he had a double, so he had all of them. You only sometimes see the missing one.
The interview has got me feeling good about the 60th anniversary next year. Hopefully we have some great surprises to look forward to.
I felt the same way! I was so happy to hear that Paramount has plans for it (and is already working on it).
I hope so because the 50th anniversary was so badly messed up by everyone esp Paramount.
What did happen for the 50th anniversary? It was in that gap between the cancellation of Enterprise and the inception of the first Kelvinverse film, so no shows or movies were happening. I think that was the year that the updated TOS episodes with the digital effects premiered…that’s all I remember.
You’re probably thinking of the 40th. The 50th anniversary was in 2016, the year Star Trek Beyond premiered.
Yipes. I lost a decade. Thanks, Elim.
Great episode, the energy was awesome. Love to have Brian back in some form, and you guys are great interviewers. Thanks!
Thanks so much! I’d love to have him back too, that was really fun.
Thanks for doing this interview! It was great! I also hope that Paramount is doing something special for the 60th next year, maybe something on the level of the 30th!
It is very interesting that Brian loves GI Joe Classified, as do I. But he stated he will not do weapon or other accessory storage on his Star Trek figures, even though the Classified figures have a lot of storage. That is a bummer, since I like my figures with phasers in holsters-look as well as holding them. That said, the accessories are fantastic! Oh, and he does answer emails as he said! I can vouch for that.
I hope that y’all can Brian in future episodes. Great fun.
Thank the universe for juxtapositioning a very joyful Brian Volk-Weiss conversation with the very sad news of Roberto (Bob) Orci.
Keep up the great work TrekMovie!
Interesting that all the figures are from ‘legacy’ shows. I guess that is what sells.
They don’t have the license for the more recent shows, Master Replicas does.
A fun note for all of you who listened: I took Brian’s advice and went looking for that transporter. Bought it for about $6 plus $12 shipping. Woot!

That’s fantastic!
