Super excited to pick this one up!
STO has always really understood ship design.
That Kitty Hawk variant is stellar.
I don’t play STO – do many people here play? Is it popular in general? I saw someone post some of their “crews” and associated ships in a Facebook group recently, and I gotta say, I actually love all of the variations. Star Trek truly is a universe, a sandbox to play in, and each ship variant and uniform variant and technology variant, all of it, it all works, it all looks great. There’s a realism to it, that there’s history, design lineage, etc. Starships are one of my favorite aspects of the franchise, and I think all these new designs look pretty stellar. More starship p*rn please 🤤
I play occasionally, mostly for the starship battles. It’s really the only game where you can have big photon torpedo-throwing throw downs in space. The game itself… well, it’s a little rickety around the edges. It was developed years ago, and it does feel like a throwback to the old days of World of Warcraft, with ground movement playing especially clunky. But if you just like the idea of kicking around Federation Space, I highly recommend it. The first time my ship approached Deep Space Nine, I nearly had a fanboy squee attack.
And oh yes, there’s no shortage of starship p*rn.
Really like the Shangri-La class! I like the ark royal too, but I’m not really a fan of playing carrier ships.
STO is a ton of fun, but oof! those bundles are pricey.
Movie era ships are the best. Need Starfleet Command 3 with movie era ships and more SFB rules and races, bring on the Andromedan invasion. Trek when Trek was good
Trek security uniforms. We are armed with directed energy weapons. So why are we wearing codpieces?
“We have a slight inferiority complex.” (I stole that line from GOLDFINGER, which I watched for at least the 40th time last night.)
Best James Bond movie, badass soundtrack, I could listen to Shirley Bassey all day and let us never forget… Pussy Galore.
I’m surprised this game has such staying power. It started in 2010 I believe? I didn’t really enjoy it much when I tried but maybe I’ll think about giving it a go again. Just not much into multiplayer and pew pew pew
The graphics of STO have always been fun but I wish the scale between player models and environments was closer to a realistic balance. I get why it is that way for the type of game but it just pulls me out of the game itself when hallways are 2.5 floors tall.
