On Sunday Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy, the headliners for the official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, really brought the house down. VegasCon 08: New Star Trek Movie Posters With Four New Cast Images [Hi Res UPDATE]

Just like they did last year, Paramount has chosen Creation’s official Star Trek convention to give fans a new poster for JJ Abrams’ Star Trek. Actually they are giving fans eight posters; the four that were given out at Comic Con and four new ones in the same style but with the rest of the main crew from the film. VegasCon 08: New Official Star Trek Fan Club Announced

Today at the official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, CBS announced that a new official Star Trek fan club will be launched by the end of the year. Details are sketchy for now, but CBS promised more details to come next month and have launched a new website to gather fan input on this new venture. In related news, Dan Madsen, who ran the previous fan club, is involved in a new fan venture that is partnering with Roddenberry.com

VegasCon 08: deLancie, Curtis, Crosby & More Guest Stars Kick Off The Con

The official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas kicked off Wednesday with a gaggle of guest stars spanning the Trek series, including John deLancie, Robin Curtis and Denise Crosby. VegasCon10: Video Preview Of Sunday’s Star Trek Auction

On Sunday there is going to be a live Star Trek auction at the Star Trek convention (you can also participate online). The original Star Trek memorabilia comes from the collections of a number of Star Trek vets, plus there are a number of pieces from Star Trek: The Experience. PropWorx CEO Alec Peters gave TrekMovie a guided tour of the preview on display in Vegas. Check out the video below.

The Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas came to an end on Sunday, with the biggest stars of the original Kirk and Spock (William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy. plus the new new Spocks (Zachary Quinto and Jacob Kogan). Saturday at the Creation Star Trek Convention was just jammed pack with Star Trek celebrities. The day included a number of guest actors from the Star Trek feature films, including Christopher LLoyd, as well as stars from all eras of Trek, with George Takei, Linda Park and a whole panel of Voyager stars. VegasCon 07 – Shatner Grills Nimoy On Star Trek Movie

As is the custom, when appearing at conventions together Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner each talk to the audience alone (one after the other) and then follow it up with a joint appearance. As Nimoy’s solo portion was winding down William Shatner came onto the stage and they had the following exchange Nimoy: How you been, Billy?Shatner: I’ve been pretty good – not as good as you, of  course!Nimoy: Been working a lot?Shatner: (remorsefully) No, no — I’ve been waiting for the call…I’m hanging by the telephone waiting for the callNimoy: I’ll call youShatner: It’s not the same as J.J. …and it got funnier from there….


Shatner Fawns, Dorn Balks, Roddenberrys & Okudas Approve…more STXI from VegasCon

As expected, there was no real news from the Official Star Trek Convention in Vegas, but our friend ‘davidoflondon tips us off to what some of the Trek luminaries were saying about it. Captain Kirk himself William Shatner continued his fawning over Trek’s new master by saying “JJ Abrams is going to lift us on the wings of fantasy”…We get it Bill, you want to be in the movie. Shatner was joined by Mr. Spock himself on stage and Bill ribbed Nimoy about how the first pilot for Trek (shot with Jeffrey Hunter playing Captain Pike). Shatner referred to it as “the one you were in that didn’t sell”.




Costumed Trekkies to Attempt New World Record at the Official Las Vegas Con this August

Thousands of Star Trek fans will be convening in Las Vegas in August again, to listen to celebrity panels, bid on memorabilia, attend planetary science discussions, stand in lines for autographs and photo ops, and debate the merits of the latest Star Trek motion picture. And again this year, they will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for most people dressed in Star Trek costumes at one location.
