The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning, and numerous Trek alumni have cause to celebrate. Amongst the nominees were Star Trek 2009’s Damon Lindelof and Michael Giacchino, as well as Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Patrick Stewart. Read below for the complete details.

Last week Star Trek co-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman told us they (and Damon Lindelof) were just starting to break the story for the sequel due June 29th, 2012. At the same event, TrekMovie also spoke to producer Bryan Burk, one of the other members of Star Trek’s five-member "Supreme Court", who gave an update on the plans for the production, and also talked about how the team want the sequel to be even bigger than the first.
We have another update and some rumors to deal with for Free Enterprise 2, the sequel to the 1998 Star Trek-themed cult-comedy starring William Shatner. All indications are that this film is happening and now actress Alicia Witt has let it slip that she is in the film as well. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have in the past spoken about how they see Kirk and Spock as akin to other famous working partnerships, especially John Lennon and Paul McCartney. They have also said that they have seen a parallel with their own working partnership. But on Wednesday Bob Orci revealed that his connection to Spock goes even deeper.
Makeup designer Barney Burman brought glory to Star Trek by winning the franchise’s first Academy Award earlier this year. Last week Burman also won a Saturn award and before the event TrekMovie had a chance to talked to Burman about his Oscar, and what he wants to do in the Star Sequel.
