One of the Q&A sessions was with Star Trek director JJ Abrams who, in addition to questions about DVD and Blu-ray sets, ended up talking about the Star Trek sequel, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Nick Meyer, and more. More Trek and Fringe Talk From Leonard Nimoy

Tonight Leonard Nimoy returns to Fringe as William Bell in the episode "Momentum Deferred" (FOX: 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Today FOX released a transcript with this week’s conference call with Nimoy, where he talks about the role and also his other JJ Abrams collaboration, Star Trek. Tomorrow morning at 4:31:19 AM (PDT), an empty Atlas rocket stage will make a powerful first contact with the lunar surface in a large plume that will be visible from Earth. So, grab your TV, your telescope, or your best pal and sit back while we all watch NASA shoot the moon — literally. The mission, called LCROSS, will search for water ice in a crater located on the southern polar region of the moon.

Star Trek Finishes Theatrical Run With $385M – Full Box Office Analysis

After a long life of 21 weeks in theaters, JJ Abrams new Star Trek movie has officially ended its run. The film is still in a handful of theaters (including some IMAX), but distributors will no longer be tracking performance. The final tally, as of last Thursday, brings the film a few thousand short of $385 Million world-wide, which is certainly a big success, especially for a franchise that was given up for dead by some just a few years ago. John Cho: Star Trek Cast ‘Hell-Bent’ For Sequel

Last week ABC debuted their new sci-fi show FlashForward (co-created by Trek vet Brannon Braga), with Star Trek’s new Sulu John Cho on board as part of the ensemble cast. Cho is now promoting the show, but of course is also being asked about Star Trek. Cho comments on the status of the sequel and if he (or the other actors) will be able to juggle their busy schedules for the next Trek.



Robert Meyer Burnett Talks Free Enterprise 2 [UPDATED]

In 1998 Robert Meyer Burnett and Mark Altman created a cult classic with Free Enterprise, their comedy about two Star Trek fans (named Robert and Mark) who meet their hero, William Shatner. Their has been a lot of talk about a sequel over the last decade, but it seems the success of the new Star Trek movie could help it become reality. [UPDATE: More from Altman and Burnett]


JJ Abrams Gives A Star Trek Sequel Update + Calls In To Colbert Report [VIDEO]

In an interview promoting his FOX show Fringe, JJ Abrams has given another one of his mini updates on the sequel to Star Trek. Basically nothing new to report, but he is keeping that ‘who will direct?’ question out there. REPORT: Star Trek Designers Talk Trek History At Art Directors Guild Event

Sunday night at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, the Art Director’s Guild held a special event honoring the design of Star Trek. On hand was a panel of distinguished designers, including Scott Chambliss and Herman Zimmerman, sharing their thoughts and memories with the capacity crowd. Video will be made available next month, but we have photos and a report with some interesting comments below.
