Recently JJ Abrams kicked off a lot of buzz when he revealed that there was a scene in the new Star Trek movie written for Shatner, but said it didn’t meet with Shatner’s ‘no cameo’ requirements. Today William Shatner launched his new ‘Shatner Project’ video blog and one of the first videos is a direct reply to the latest from Star Trek’s director.
Earlier this week IESB released part of their Eagle Eye interview with Star Trek co-writers Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman (where they talked about Wrath of Khan) and today they have released the full interview where the pair give an update about the current status of Star Trek in post production and also talked about the ‘epic’ scale of the film.

George Takei (TOS: Sulu) wed his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman, today in Los Angeles. The couple married in a ceremony in the Democracy Forum of the Japanese American National Museum,the museum Takei helped create to honor those forced, as he was, to live in WWII internment camp. In attendance were some of his Star Trek co-stars.

In 2007 William Shatner launched ShatnerVision at LiveVideo.com, a vlog (or video log) where he would regularly update fans with what is going on and also give a glimpse into the life that is Shatner, at least until April of this year when ShatnerVision stopped broadcasting. But the wait is over and Shatner is back with a new web vlog called ‘The Shatner Project’ that will launch at YouTube early next week.
Last month TrekMovie reported that the first theatrical trailer for JJ Abrams Star Trek movie was edited, awaiting some effects shots, and should be shown sometime in 2008. Now at AICN has a report from a UK press screening where Paramount showed off portions of a number of their 2009 films.
TrekMovie has been informed that Joan ("Joannie") Winston, one of the founders of the first Star Trek conventions and author of "The Making of the Star Trek Conventions," passed away September 11th at age 77. According to her family, Joan died in her sleep at an assisted living center in New York.
