A couple of Star Trek 2009 stars have been on talk shows this week. Zoe Saldana was on Jimmy Kimmel Live (and appearing on yet another cover!), while John Cho appeared on the Bonnie Hunt Show. You can watch the videos below (mostly talked about current projects, so no Trek sequel talk).
Later this month Pocket Books will delve into Captain Pike’s time on the USS Enterprise, with the novel "Star Trek: The Children of Kings", by David Stern. Sir Patrick Stewart’s latest play Bingo: Scenes of Money and Death, opens this week at the Chichester Festival in the UK. And in a new interview promoting the play, Stewart reflected back on his time as Jean Luc Picard and how he has faced typecasting in Hollywood. We also have photos of rehearsals from the new play.
Nominations for Canada’s fourth annual Constellation Awards, which honor "excellence in science fiction film and television" have been announced and the 2009 Star Trek movie dominates the film categories with five nominations. Details below.
The members of the Star Trek ‘Supreme Court’ continue to show their Hollywood power. Today it was revealed that Trek scribes Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are producing a new airport thrill (and they also just cast Harrison Ford in another film they are producing). Plus Time Magazine is preparing their Top 100 issue, and JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof are climbing up the online poll.
Saturday the Star Trek: The Experience warehouse sale took place in Las Vegas Nevada. According to Propworx, it was a big success with huge crowds and everything being sold. There are some nice videos from the event available to view, check them out below.
And now yet another Trek/Tech story. Seagate, the largest maker of hard drives, has teamed up with Paramount Pictures to offer new portable hard drives with the 2009 Star Trek movie preloaded as a bonus.

Star Trek movies have taken another step into the world of online streaming. In February Star Trek Generations was made available on Hulu . And now four more Star Trek movies have been made available via Netflix streaming.
As reported earlier, there will be a warehouse sale on Saturday in Las Vegas, selling off many of the assets from Star Trek The Experience, which closed at the Las Vegas Hilton in 2008. We now have more photos and video from the warehouse so you can see what is left and what you might want to pick up.

Before co-creating the revamped Battlestar Galactica (and the spin-off, Caprica), Ron Moore began his writing and producing career working on Star Trek (TNG & DS9). And in a new interview, Moore said that if given a chance, he would love to Trek again.
Anton Yelchin, Star Trek’s new Chekov, is having a big week. Yesterday it was announced he was providing voice work for the new 3D Smurfs movie. And today it has been announced the actor is in talks to star in a remake of the 80s vampire movie Fright Night.
Much has been reported about the special mentoring relationship between the the Spocks of the 2009 Star Trek movie, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy. So far it looks like Leonard Nimoy is serious about handing things off to Quinto for the sequel, and going (back) into retirement. But a new comment from Quinto suggests the young actor may not be ready to let go.
JJ Abrams 2009 Star Trek movie has picked up another award nomination, this time for a Hugo Award from the World Science Fiction Society. In addition Star Trek vet Brannon Braga picked up a nomination for his work on FlashForward. More details below.

Today in Star Trek future history is "First Contact Day". Regardless of your timeline, on April 5th, 2063 Dr. Zefram Cochrane is to became the first man to break the warp barrier (with a little help from the crew of the NCC-1701E), which will catch the notice of some passing Vulcans who initiate the ‘first contact’ between humans and aliens…and the beginnings of the United Federation of Planets and all that came with it.
Apples new iPad (or if you prefer iPADD) is the hot thing in tech right now. And IDW, the publisher of Star Trek comics, has just announced they will be taking advantage of the device Steve Jobs calls ‘magical’. It appears that some people are having some fun with their new US Census forms, including thousands of Trekkies telling the government they not exactly human. However, the government doesn’t think it is very funny and you could end up getting fined (unless you can prove your non-terrestrial ancestry). More details below.
Leonard Nimoy has recently spoke about his retirement from acting, but it appears he did find time to fit in some voice work for a Transformers video game. Nimoy, who also recently provided voice work for Star Trek Online, will be featured in the upcoming Activision game "Transformers: War for Cybertron". UPDATE: Apparently this is a rumor and has been denied by Activision.

Recently Star Trek and Heroe’s star Zachary Quinto has said that he wants to expand out of the sci-fi genre and it looks like one way he might do that is a supporting role in an R-Rated romantic comedy. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Quinto has been offered a role in the Anna Faris comedy What’s Your Number. Details below.
George Takei seems to be having a big week. Not only is he all over TV these days with a new Sharp TV commercial, but he has been cast in a new Tom Hanks comedy. Hanks revealed the cast of his upcoming film Larry Crowne using a mysterious Twitter picture showing the headshots of his cast. Plus we have more Takei news with a new video about the Census.
Star Trek’s Zoe Saldana was nominated for two awards (for her work in Avatar) at the 23rd Annual Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, held tonight in Los Angeles. In the end Zoe came away without any awards, but she was on hand to present. Saldana also talked about racial discrimination it a new cover story interview. Details, photos and video below.
