After the success of the "Star Trek Countdown" comic, IDW is planning a follow-up with more Spock backstory leading up to the Star Trek movie with "Spock Reflections" coming in July. George Takei Speaks Out Against CA Supreme Court Ruling on Prop 8 [UPDATED]

Last September the original Sulu, George Takei wed his long-time partner Brad Altman (see TM story), but in November California voters amended the state’s constitution to ban same-sex marriage. Today the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, but also declared marriages completed before Prop 8 (like Takei’s) to be valid. However, Takei is still not happy about the ruling and has made a statement. [UPDATED: more Takei statements on video]


William Shatner Wants To Be In Star Trek Sequel + New Shat/Trek Skit + Urban Talks To ShatnerVision

The new Star Trek movie is a success and so people are already thinking of sequels, and of course the subject of William Shatner is already being talked about in the media. Last week Paramount released a number of new Star Trek DVD and Blu-ray titles with the biggest being the Original Motion Picture Collection on Blu-Ray. Nokia Star Trek Site Offers Tour of Romulan Narada

It turns out that phone maker Nokia, one of Paramount’s Star Trek marketing partners who are already part of the Verizon Trek site, has their own Star Trek site (nokia.com/startrek) , which is themed around the Romulan Narada ship from the movie. Nothing really new at the site, but it does give you a good view of the interior of the Narada, details below. .



Reviews of ‘Star Trek’ Novel Adaptation & Audio Book + Limited Signed Hardcover Announced

Today The Library Computer brings you two special (and somewhat opposing) reviews of Alan Dean Foster’s adaptation of the new Star Trek feature film. Firstly Robert Lyons reviews the novel itself, and then John Tenuto reviews the audiobook version (read by Zachary Quinto). Star Trek Cast Interview Excerpts From Official Movie Magazine + Exclusive Cover Image

This week Titan will release the official Star Trek movie souvenir issue of Star Trek Magazine. Star Trek DAC Game Trailer – With Footage From Star Trek Movie

The new Star Trek movie is not getting a traditional adaptation video game, however Paramount has put together a fun $10 downloadable arcade space-shooter ‘inspired by Star Trek’ called Star Trek D-A-C. They have just released the game trailer which you can see below. The trailer includes some cool ship-on-ship action footage from the Star Trek movie.



New Star Trek Ice Planet Clip (Officially) Online + Paramount LA Premiere Video

Last week viewers of Lost (co-created by Trek producers JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof) were treated to an exclusive NEW clip from the Star Trek movie. Live Coverage Of Star Trek Hollywood Premiere

This evening the big USA gala premiere is happening at the Chinese theater in Hollywood, California. After a month of international premieres, this is is going to the the biggest with Star Trek director JJ Abrams joined by almost the entire cast and crew. Also on hand will be past Trek luminaries and many of LA’s top celebrities. TrekMovie is there and will be liveblogging (with photos), plus there are live webcams and a local TV station is broadcasting live from the red carpet. Details below.



Cover and Details For Star Trek Magazine Official Movie Guide

The upcoming issue of Star Trek magazine will be the ‘Official Movie Guide’ for the Star Trek movie. This issue of the official Star Trek magazine will be like previous ‘souvenir movie magazines’ and should be a must for any collector. Titan Publishing has sent us details on what is in the magazine along with the first look at the cover.


Full List Of IMAX Theaters Carrying Star Trek + IMAX Trailer

One of more exciting things about the new Star Trek movie is that it is also coming out in IMAX (a franchise first). However, the IMAX Experience will be a limited engagement of just two weeks, so you better hurry up. More From JJ Abrams WIRED Issue Online – Including Entire 6-Page Star Trek Comic

Last week we previewed the special ‘mystery’ issue of WIRED Magazine guest edited by Star Trek director JJ Abrams. The issue is now on all newsstands and WIRED has put some more content online, including a behind-the-scene video with Abrams, the entire 6-page "When Worlds Collide" comic written by Trek scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, plus some concept art by monster creator Neville Page.

The nice people at Wired Magazine sent TrekMovie their May issue which has a very special ‘guest editor’…the director of the new Star Trek movie, JJ Abrams.
