The future history of Star Trek introduced us to many new holidays, like the Federation’s First Contact Day, the Klingon Day of Honor and the Bajoran Gratitude Festival. However, some current holidays persisted into the future, including the American holiday of Thanksgiving, with its traditional meal.
JJ Abrams Star Trek movie is now out on DVD and Blu-ray. One of the better special features is on Casting, which goes over how each of the iconic Star Trek crew members were recast. In yet another mainstream accolade, the December issue of GQ magazine celebrates the return of Star Trek by naming Chris Pine and the Star Trek team as men of the year (in two categories). We have photos below, plus some excerpts and an additional MTV interview with Pine and Abrams.
As promised the Star Trek Phase II team is making up for the long wait for "Blood and Fire, Part 2" by releasing the first six minutes of their next episode "Enemy: Starfleet", which gives you the teaser, opening credits and some of Act 1. The preview lets you get a look at Phase II’s new Spock, Brandon Stacy, who was Zachary Quinto’s double for JJ Abrams Star Trek.

Paramount has released a couple more clips from the upcoming home video release of JJ Abrams Star Trek movie. The first shows part of the Simon Pegg portion of the "Casting" featurette, and the second is a montage of various behind the scene clips from home video release. 2009 has been the one of the best years ever for Star Trek on home video, with the next release being the the 2009 Star Trek movie on Blu-ray and DVD next week. However, the final release of the year will be Star Trek The Original Series on Blu-ray, coming December 15th. Today we have more details on the unaired version of the "Where No Man Has Gone Before" pilot, which is a key special feature of the set.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences never saw fit to award Gene Roddenberry with an Emmy (even though he was nominated twice), but in January they will make up for it by inducting the creator of Star Trek into the TV Hall of Fame.

Although it has been hinted at, not until today has Cryptic official set a release date for their upcoming MMORPG, Star Trek Online. Today the announcement was made on the official site that STO will be released February 2nd, 2010 in North America and Feb 5th in Europe. Pre-order information below

Star Trek director/producer JJ Abrams continues to build his portfolio of projects in development. Today its being reported that Abrams is producing a movie based on the Micronauts toy line. Arriving in November is the next Star Trek novel from Pocket Books, "Star Trek: Vanguard: Precipice", which is the second Vanguard book for 2009.
