Kurtzman, Orci & Lindelof Talk Abrams & Star Trek Collaboration

They have been referred to here as the current ‘Supreme Court’ of Star Trek, but the collaboration between JJ Abrams, Damon Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman goes far beyond the final frontier. Today’s Variety has a lengthy feature on Abrams team and how they have come together to create projects that are at the top of the Hollywood buzz list, including some insights into the process of creating the new Star Trek movie. Watch Big Bang Theory Wheaton Episode Promo + Wil’s TNG Memoir Released

The nerdy hit CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory is always good for a Star Trek reference, but next Monday they will be stepping up a notch as Wil Wheaton guest stars, playing himself. Takei Suggests Ending Shatner Feud On Howard Stern Show [UPDATED]

Over the last couple of years the feud between Original Series stars William Shatner and George Takei has really heated up, spilling into mainstream media. Recently there was some talk of George appearing on Bill’s Raw Nerve TV show for a hatchet burying episode, however Takei says he wants to do it on neutral ground, namely the Howard Stern Show. Ron Moore Decries Star Trek Technobabble

The Star Trek franchise, especially in the TNG era, is well known for its scientific and engineering dialiog, often referred to as ‘technobabble’. Recently when speaking at the New York Television Festival, veteran Star Trek writer/producer and Battlestar Galactica co-creator, Ron Moore spoke about how he became “frustrated” with this aspect of Trek. Video of JJ Abrams From Last Week’s Star Trek Home Video Press Event

Last week Star Trek director JJ Abrams conducted a Q&A at a press event promoting the upcoming Star Trek DVD and Blu-ray releases. Happy Birthday, Scott Bakula (& Belated Happy Birthday To Avery Brooks)

Today is the birthday of Star Trek Enterprise’s Captain Archer, Scott Bakula. The actor is 55 years young. Since leaving the 22nd century in 2005 the actor has kept busy, including working on the stage, TV, and film and he even has a new TV show coming in December (Men of a Certain Age). We also are extending a belated birthday greeting to Avery Brooks, Captain Sisko of Deep Space Nine.

Tonight Leonard Nimoy returns to Fringe as William Bell in the episode "Momentum Deferred" (FOX: 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Today FOX released a transcript with this week’s conference call with Nimoy, where he talks about the role and also his other JJ Abrams collaboration, Star Trek. Spike Wants Star Trek Fans For Scream Awards – Offering Free Tickets For Costumed Trekkies

A few weeks ago we reported that the new Star Trek movie lead the nominations for this year’s Spike Scream Awards with a total of 17. The award show is taped on October 17th in Los Angeles and Spike is inviting TrekMovie readers to attend the event for free. Scott Bakula On Fandom, Quantum Leap Future, & Enterprise Reference In Star Trek Movie

Scott Bakula, Captain Jonathan Archer on Star Trek: Enterprise, is out promoting his role in the new movie The Informant!, and in a new extensive interview he gets into what effect being part of Star Trek and Quantum Leap has had on his life, excerpts below. Bakula also says that he expects that he would not be involved in any future version of Quantum Leap. And in a separate video interview, Bakula talks about Quantum Leap, Chuck and more, including the Enterprise reference in the new Star Trek movie.



Star Trek Season 3 Blu-Ray Coming December 15th

Today CBS and Paramount Home Video announced the last of their expected Blu-ray releases for the near future, the digitally remastered third season of Star Trek The Original Series. Leonard Nimoy Does Not Expect To Be In Star Trek Sequel

In a new radio interview with NPR, the original Mr. Spock, Leonard Nimoy, says that he feels that he done the job he was required to do for this year’s Star Trek movie, and he doesn’t expect to return for the sequel. Brad & Kate: A Star Trek Love Story – Couple Wed On USS Enterprise [VIDEO]

Last weekend two lucky Star Trek fans got to have their wedding in the Final Frontier. Brad Siegel and Kate Erwin, winners of a contest held by the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, got married on Sunday on a replica of the USS Enterprise D bridge at Star Trek The Exhibition. The couple has sent TrekMovie a special video telling their story from a proposal at a convention to the wedding itself. 


Star Trek Movie ‘Rising From Titan’ Images Available Online

One of the more dramatic moments from the Star Trek movie was when the USS Enterprise rises from the clouds of Saturn’s moon Titan. This scene was actually suggested by the science advisor Carolyn Porco, who also leads the imaging science team for NASA’s Cassini mission to Saturn. Now Paramount has given Porco a couple of beautiful high res images of that scene for her website.

This morning DragonCon kicked off in Altanta, and the first event in the impressive Star Trek schedule was an appearance by the original Kirk and Spock, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. Reports are coming in apparently the new Star Trek movie was the focus for the pair speaking to a crowd of over 2000. We have a summary and some video below.
