More From JJ Abrams WIRED Issue Online – Including Entire 6-Page Star Trek Comic

Last week we previewed the special ‘mystery’ issue of WIRED Magazine guest edited by Star Trek director JJ Abrams. The issue is now on all newsstands and WIRED has put some more content online, including a behind-the-scene video with Abrams, the entire 6-page "When Worlds Collide" comic written by Trek scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, plus some concept art by monster creator Neville Page.

JJ Abrams Guest-Edited WIRED Mag Preview – w/ Star Trek Mini-comic

The nice people at Wired Magazine sent TrekMovie their May issue which has a very special ‘guest editor’…the director of the new Star Trek movie, JJ Abrams. The issue is filled with the stuff JJ loves, especially mysterious puzzles. Abrams also writes an essay about mysteries and spoilers. Plus the issue contains a Star Trek mini-comic written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman and also ‘production notes’ from ST09 the DP . See our Abrams WIRED preview below.


New Interview Excerpts From Main Trek Cast From SciFiNow and more

Yesterday we had excerpts from JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman from the new issue of SciFiNow magazine (#27), going on sale this week in the UK. Today we have excerpts from the cast interviews, including Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Bruce Greenwood and Simon Pegg. SciFiNow Star Trek Issue Excerpts: Abrams On Film’s End + Orci & Kurtzman On Differences w/ Past

The new issue of SciFiNow magazine (#27), going on sale this week in the UK, has an extensive feature all about the new Star Trek movie, complete with interviews from most of the main cast and many of the filmmakers and crew. EXCLUSIVE: Report From Paris Star Trek News Conference w/ Q&A

On Tuesday April 14th,  J.J. Abrams, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoë Saldana and Eric Bana all came to the Hotel Parc Hyatt in one of upscale districts of Paris to talk to the press about Star Trek. Unification France has provided TrekMovie with an exclusive report from the event, with photos and a transcript of the Q&A. Official Star Trek Site Updated With Additional ‘Dossiers’ + more

This morning the official site for the new Star Trek Movie (startrekmovie.com) was updated. The most interesting new thing was the second wave of ‘dossiers’, with three new entries, including Spock and one showing a cool space station and some ships. They have also added the three new clips (which were previously exclusives) and some new photos (which were sent to some international sites last week). More details below.

New Star Trek Viral Campaign [Update: Game Clue Solved?]

Back in January of 2008 Paramount put up a viral site (ncc-1701.com), but since then it has been quiet on the viral marketing front from for Star Trek, but that appears to have changed, and in fact we seem to have missed it as it has been out there for a couple of weeks. It all starts with those Star Trek dance parties we reported on a couple of weeks ago. 



SFX Excerpts From Interviews With Pine, Quinto, Saldana, Cho & Pegg

As reported earlier, SFX Magazine’s May issue, coming out this week, is chock full of stuff about the new Star Trek movie. In addition to an interview with director JJ Abrams, there are also interviews with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, and  John Cho. Plus Simon Pegg has a guest column. We have excerpts from all of those below.


New Star Trek Clips + Abrams & Cast Comments

There are some more clips from the Star Trek movie now online. Firstly MTV have an extended clip of the Iowa bar scene between Kirk and Uhura, and Yahoo has a shot of Kirk and McCoy on a shuttle. In addition the Australian show Today Tonight have interview clips with JJ Abrams and cast members, interspersed with clips from the movie, including some not seen before. [SPOILERS]

Orci & Kurtzman On Getting Personal & Getting Nimoy + New Official ST09 Synopsis Released

The Sunday LA Times has an extensive feature on the writers of the new Star Trek, going a bit into their own origin story and the writing team of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman explain how their back-story parallels that of the movie and also talk about what it took to get Nimoy on board. Happy Birthday Leonard Nimoy

Today, Leonard Nimoy is 78.  His thoughtfulness and dedication to his art is a big reason for the popularity of Spock.  He has entertained Star Trek fans for more than 40 years, creating a cultural icon with a character we are all delighted to see again on the big screen this year.  However, his career is more than Spock, starting nearly 60 years ago.  TrekMovie sends its best wishes to Leonard on his birthday with this collection of some of his performances during his many decades as an entertainer.
