As promised, Friday night’s broadcast of Entertainment Tonight included an exclusive sneak peek at the new Star Trek. The segment had about two minutes of footage, including interviews, some behind-the-scenes shots and some new footage from the film. Check it out below. [SPOILERS]
Last week we previewed the special ‘mystery’ issue of WIRED Magazine guest edited by Star Trek director JJ Abrams. The issue is now on all newsstands and WIRED has put some more content online, including a behind-the-scene video with Abrams, the entire 6-page "When Worlds Collide" comic written by Trek scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, plus some concept art by monster creator Neville Page.
On Tuesday night (UK time) JJ Abrams and his cast came to the London gala premiere of Star Trek, the final stop on their global tour before coming back to the states. TrekMovie was there every step of the day and has a full report from the premiere and the press conference. Plus we have a summary of the first reviews coming from the UK.

On Friday the Star Trek world promotional tour stopped in Madrid, Spain to hold a press screening and press conference. On hand were JJ Abrams and many of his Star Trek stars. With the help of our Spanish partners, TrekMovie has compiled a report from the event and how Star Trek is playing with the Spanish media.
The nice people at Wired Magazine sent TrekMovie their May issue which has a very special ‘guest editor’…the director of the new Star Trek movie, JJ Abrams. The issue is filled with the stuff JJ loves, especially mysterious puzzles. Abrams also writes an essay about mysteries and spoilers. Today we have excerpts from the cast interviews, including Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Bruce Greenwood and Simon Pegg. We also have some excerpts and links to a couple of other interviews with John Cho and Zachary Quinto.
The new issue of SciFiNow magazine (#27), going on sale this week in the UK, has an extensive feature all about the new Star Trek movie, complete with interviews from most of the main cast and many of the filmmakers and crew. The mag also comes with a few DVD and more Star Trek promo offers. We have details below, plus SFN have provided TrekMovie with some excerpts from the interviews with Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman.
On Tuesday April 14th, J.J. Abrams, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoë Saldana and Eric Bana all came to the Hotel Parc Hyatt in one of upscale districts of Paris to talk to the press about Star Trek. Unification France has provided TrekMovie with an exclusive report from the event, with photos and a transcript of the Q&A. We also have a report from the French screening of the film for the press (no spoilers).
This morning the official site for the new Star Trek Movie (startrekmovie.com) was updated. The most interesting new thing was the second wave of ‘dossiers’, with three new entries, including Spock and one showing a cool space station and some ships. They have also added the three new clips (which were previously exclusives) and some new photos (which were sent to some international sites last week). More details below.

Back in January of 2008 Paramount put up a viral site (ncc-1701.com), but since then it has been quiet on the viral marketing front from for Star Trek, but that appears to have changed, and in fact we seem to have missed it as it has been out there for a couple of weeks. It all starts with those Star Trek dance parties we reported on a couple of weeks ago.
On Tuesday evening (Tuesday morning for the rest of us), the Star Trek world tour hit New Zealand, home of the new Dr. McCoy, Karl Urban. He, along with Chris Pine, Zach Quinto and John Cho were all on hand for the gala premiere in Auckland. We have some of the first pics and vid interviews from this event below.

There are some more clips from the Star Trek movie now online. Firstly MTV have an extended clip of the Iowa bar scene between Kirk and Uhura, and Yahoo has a shot of Kirk and McCoy on a shuttle. This week the May issue (#182) of the venerable UK sci-fi magazine SFX comes out and it is all about Star Trek. The magazine features a number of articles and exclusive interviews related to the new movie, including a cover story with comments from director JJ Abrams. SFX provided TrekMovie with some excerpts from the new magazine, read them below.
On Monday Scott Bakula, Star Trek Enterprise’s Captain Jonathan Archer, begins a three-episode arc on the NBC show Chuck. We have video and image previews plus some interview excerpts from Bakula talking about Chuck and about Star Trek, including how maybe the new Star Trek movie could prove that Enterprise should never have been cancelled.

Do you like to Rock? If so, then we have news for you. Today Paramount and MTV Games announced a promotional partnership for the new Star Trek movie and the popular rockin’ videogame Rock Band. The promotion kicks off today and will include music track giveaways, an in-game Star Trek themed battle of the bands and a futuristic avatar contest. You can even win your own personal screening of Star Trek. [and no this is not a April fool’s joke]
After a long dry spell, fans of Star Trek games have a lot to look forward to in the next year. In May Paramount is releasing the Star Trek movie themed game Star Trek DAC, and hopefully less than a year later Cryptic comes out with their Star Trek Online MMORPG. The movie industry’s big trade show ‘ShoWest’ kicked off this week in Las Vegas and Paramount is showing off some new Star Trek ‘character’ posters. Plus TrekMovie has got a hold of the final Italian Star Trek poster.
The Sunday LA Times has an extensive feature on the writers of the new Star Trek, going a bit into their own origin story and the writing team of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman explain how their back-story parallels that of the movie and also talk about what it took to get Nimoy on board. Today, Leonard Nimoy is 78. His thoughtfulness and dedication to his art is a big reason for the popularity of Spock. He has entertained Star Trek fans for more than 40 years, creating a cultural icon with a character we are all delighted to see again on the big screen this year. However, his career is more than Spock, starting nearly 60 years ago. TrekMovie sends its best wishes to Leonard on his birthday with this collection of some of his performances during his many decades as an entertainer.
