While attending an Oscar party on Sunday, Star Trek sequel actor Benedict Cumberbatch took a moment to talk about what it has been like being the new guy on set. He also discussed working with Star Trek stars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. Details and video below [no spoilers].
Last week images from location shooting on the Star Trek sequel emerged showing actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana. Now video from some of that location shooting has emerged showing much of the same, but now in moving pictures. On Saturday Star Trek’s Zachary Quinto picked up a couple of Independent Spirit awards for Margin Call, for his debut film as a producer. Also on hand presenting at the Spirit Awards was his co-stars Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana. And in a small Star Trek world connection, Saldana presented a Spirit award to Christopher Plummer (Chang from STVI). Plummer also won an Oscar on Sunday. Today the first (unofficial) on location photos from the set of JJ Abrams Star Trek sequel have emerged. They feature Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana as well as Benedict Cumberbatch. The movie comes out May 2013 so if you can’t wait then see the pictures below, but be warned that they contain SPOILERS.

The new season of Celebrity Apprentice has premiered, with Star Trek’s George Takei as one of the celebrities. The first task for the men’s team was to name the team. Chris Pine, Star Trek’s new Kirk, has a new movie opening today (This Means War) so last night he took some time off from shooting the sequel set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live. While there Chris talked briefly about shooting Trek, travel, cartoon crushes, and his Kardashian connection. Star Trek’s new Kirk Chris Pine is being sued by his former talent agency. Pine left the agency in late 2011 and now they are alleging he owes them compensation for a number of current and future projects. The suit also reveals Pine’s Star Trek salary. More details below.

A new nerdy short film is going viral around the web this week. Created by Max Landis, writer for the recently released sci-fi film Chronicle (and son of director John Landis), the film features Max retelling the story of the death of Superman from DC comics in the early 90s. It also features a number of celebrity cameos, including Star Trek’s Simon Pegg.
Star Trek Online is celebrating it’s second anniversary.
