Rod Roddenberry Takes Father’s Vision to Next Level, Offers $1,000,000 Prize For a #BoldlyBetter Future

The Roddenberry Foundation recently announced a $1,000,000 cash prize for the best ideas on how to make our future #BoldlyBetter. Winners Announced for ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Writing Contest

CBS have announced the winners of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds writing contest. The 10 Grand Prize winners, chosen from hundreds of submissions, will each receive a $1000 prize, and their stories will be included in the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2016 Edition Anthology, to be published in digital first format this year. The two First Prize winners will each receive a free publishing package from Archway Publishing valued at approximately $5,000 to publish a book on a subject other than Star Trek.

This weekend saw TrekTrax (newly redubbed Treklanta) host the very first Star Trek Independent Fan Film Awards and the results are in. It continues to be a great growth year with more amazing productions coming into the field and the existing group maturing and continuing to set the bar for the rest. Kate Mulgrew Getting Emmy Buzz + Cosmos Picks Up Creative Emmys (But Not Braga)

Star Trek Into Darkness Shut Out At Saturn Awards – TNG Wins For Blu-ray

Thursday night in Burbank was the last stop in awards season, with the 40th Saturn Awards – honoring the best in science fiction and fantasy. Last summer’s Star Trek Into Darkness went into the night with five nominations, but got shut out. There were also more Trek-related winners and losers at the Saturns. Details below.


Star Trek & Shatner Nominated For TCA Awards + Wheaton & Shatner Win Audie Awards

There’s a few bits of Star Trek-related award news today. First up the original Star Trek series was nominated (again) for a Television Critics Association Award, as was William Shatner. And Bill won an award for his latest audio book, as did Wil Wheaton. And new Star Trek movie star Benedict Cumberbatch picked up another award nomination.


Cumberbatch Picks Up UK Theater Acting Award + Quinto’s Margin Call & Plummer Nominated For Oscars

Yesterday brought good awards news for two actors working on the Star Trek sequel. First up Benedict Cumberbatch won an acting award for his work on the UK stage in the play Frankenstein. Plus Zachary Quinto’s first film as a producer picked up an Oscar nomination for writing. Star Trek VI’s Christopher Plummer also picked up an Oscar nomination.
