Creation Entertainment got their Star Trek Summer convention season going with their East Coast Star Trek convention in Parsippany, NJ over this past weekend. On hand were many big Trek celebs, including Jeffrey Combs, Kate Mulgrew, Conner Trinneer, John Billingsley and the headliner, Leonard Nimoy. Last night Star Trek The Next Generation’s Geordi La Forge was involved in a five car accident in Los Angeles. According to reports the actor was treated at a local hospital and released and no tickets were issue for the accident. Last week we reported that TJ Hooker, William Shatner’s cop show from the 80s, was being made into a feature film, as an ‘action comedy’. Now the producer of “TJ Hooker: The Movie” says he wants to get the original cast into the movie, including Shatner, but no deal is in place yet.
Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek’s original Uhura, is headed back into space, this time for a sci-fi musical comedy series called "The Cabonauts". DreamWorks is now in talks for the rights to make a film based on the Fisher Price ViewMaster 3D Viewer toy, with Bob and Alex tapped to produce.
Star Trek’s new Scotty is a daddy. Today Simon Pegg confirmed that last week he and his wife Maureen brought a new sci-fi nerd into the world, a girl. The family is keeping more details to themselves, but Pegg says all are fine. The baby, born in Los Angeles, is the couple’s first child.
It appears that another classic TV show starring William Shatner is headed for a big screen reboot, this time it is TJ Hooker…and no that is not a joke. Today Variety reported that the classic 80s cop show is being remade as an action comedy. No word yet on if any of the original show stars will return, but there is a potential part for Shatner.

Today is the 43rd birthday of Star Trek producer/director Jeffrey Jacob ‘JJ’ Abrams. The man behind Lost, Alias, Felicity, Fringe, MI3, Cloverfield and much more joined the Star Trek universe 3 years ago, and he was a welcome addition to the family. So happy birthday JJ, and many more.
