The Watch was busy watching celebs instead of the clock, so it’s a bit late. Anyway, this week we have Shat making a top celebrity spokesmen list, a new play for Avery Brooks, Takei going to Red Alert 3, an injured Wil Wheaton being named a major internet influence, and more. Shatner’s Raw Nerve To Premiere in December + Exclusive First Look

About a month ago we reported that A&E Networks had picked up William Shatner’s new talk show Raw Nerve and it would premiere August 19th (today) on the Bio Channel. Fans have been asking about the show and so TrekMovie checked in with A&E. Don’t worry the show is still coming, but will now be in December. We have an exclusive first image and more details below.

Shatner, Fuller, BSG, Lost Nominated for Emmys

The nominees for the 2008 Emmy Awards were announced this morning and there are a few Trek alumni on the list with William Shatner at the top of that list. Other Trek alums include Ronald D. Moore, Bryan Fuller, Gary Hutzel, Doug Drexler, and Sarah Silverman. Also Star Trek’s new masters picked up some nods for Lost. Full details below.



Scott Bakula Joins New TNT Drama

Scott Bakula has joined the cast of the new TNT drama Men of a Certain Age, which will be his first time as a TV series regular since the cancellation of Star Trek Enterprise in 2005. Bakula will play Terry, a handsome, intelligent but struggling-to-make-it actor, opposite Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond) and Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street).

Mulgrew To Join Daniel Radcliffe In Equus On Broadway

Exit Patrick Stewart and enter Kate Mulgrew, look out New York another Star Trek captain is headed to Broadway. Today it was announced that Kate Mulgrew (Voyager – Capt. Janeway) has been cast in the Broadway revival of Equus which starts its 22 week run in September. Mulgrew is the first American cast for the US run, joining Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter series) and Richard Griffiths (History Boys) who are reprising their roles from the London run of the play.

Takei Marriage License Big News [UPDATED]

Today was the first day for California to issue marriage licenses for same-sex couples and George Takei, along with his partner Brad Altman, were literally the first in line to pick one up for their September wedding. New Projects From Trek Producers – Past and Present

This week there is a lot of new project news coming from producers who have worked on Trek. Star Trek director/producer JJ Abrams has bought the rights to make a movie about a ‘mysterious’ apartment. Voyager writer/producer Kenneth Biller has signed on to be the showrunner on a new fantasy TV series with Enterprise writer/producer Mike Sussman in talks to help out. And TNG/DS9 writer/producer Hans Beimler’s new show premiered last night.

Star Trek Composer Alexander Courage Dead At 88

Alexander Courage, who wrote the original Star Trek title theme as well as the scores for numerous television shows and movies, died May 15 in Pacific Palisades, California at the age of 88. The Emmy winning and Oscar-nominated composer had over 90 film and television credits and at least one other TV theme (Judd for the Defense), but he was best known for the exotic, bongo-driven siren song he wrote for the original Star Trek TV series.
