LeVar Burton Re-Launches Reading Rainbow As iPad App + Flashback To RR Visit To Star Trek: TNG Set

Star Trek: The Next Generation’s LeVar Burton is also famous for his 21 seasons as the host of the kids show Reading Rainbow. After PBS stopped airing reruns of the series in 2009, Burton was determined to bring it back. Today Reading Rainbow was re-launched as an iPad app. More details and LeVar’s video intro below. Khan30: Harve Bennett, DeForest Kelley & Nick Meyer Talk Star Trek II In Rare BTS Footage

TrekMovie continues to celebrate June as Wrath of Khan month in honor of the 30th anniversary of what we still think of as the best Star Trek feature film. Remembering The Collectibles Of Star Trek: Voyager

It was January 16, 1995 when the premiere episode of Star Trek Voyager, titled “Caretaker,” premiered with nearly 14 million fans tuned to the UPN network’s very first show. From 1995 to 2001, Voyager produced almost 170 episodes and brought new demographics to Star Trek audiences. It also brought a variety of collectibles. Star Trek Loves Lucy

Today, Saturday August 6th, marks what would have been Lucille Ball’s 100th birthday. While best known as the star of the groundbreaking sitcom I Love Lucy, Lucile Ball was also instrumental in getting Star Trek off the ground. If Gene Roddenberry is the father of Star Trek, then Ball is sort of Trek’s godmother.

Four Star Trek captains will be at San Diego Comic Con 2011 with Patrick Stewart and Scott Bakula now confirmed for separate events (in addition to the previously announced The Captains panel with William Shatner & Avery Brooks). And in the week following SDCC William Shatner is hosting outdoor screenings of The Captains in New York and LA, and he and Epix are giving out prizes for fans who show up in costume.
