William Shatner’s The Captains is just two days away and in a new interview the original Star Trek captain talks about the journey and surprises from making the documentary. This week the new Star Trek crew have been making news. There is a new TV spot for Fright Night featuring Anton Yelchin, a new trailer for Tintin with Simon Pegg, and a new image of Karl Urban as Dredd. In the last few weeks there has been a lot of talk about the state of the Star Trek sequel. The chances of the film actually being released in 50 weeks is seeming more remote. Today Simon Pegg, Star Trek’s new Scotty, has a message for fans, asking for patience.
Star Trek director JJ Abrams first feature film was Mission: Impossible: III in 2006. For the sequel Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol (due in December) Abrams is back as a producer and he again brought along Simon Pegg as Benji the IMF tech. John Cho is celebrating his birthday today. Star Trek’s new Hikaru Sulu is turning 39 years old. So today TrekMovie wishes John a happy birthday, and we also wish a belated happy birthday to Cho’s Star Trek co-star Karl Urban turned 39 last week.

Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks joined Star Trek’s Simon Pegg on The Graham Norton Show last night where the pair nerded out on their shared love for Trek. Pegg ‘beamed’ Hanks up, Hanks expressed interest in appearing in the next Star Trek movie and he and Pegg even held a mini Star Trek trivia contest. Watch how it all worked out below.

One of the more controversial aspects of the 2009 Star Trek movie was the relationship between Spock and Uhura.
